July 2014

Welcome to Wikipedia. I have noticed that some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to Donald Fagen, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 02:58, 15 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from changing genres, as you did to Kamakiriad, without providing a source or establishing a consensus on the article's talk page first. Genre changes to suit your own point of view are considered disruptive. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 03:29, 15 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to change genres without discussion or sources, as you did at Morph the Cat, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 03:31, 15 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I'll be more careful, but why did you send me three different messages for just one batch of edits? TheamDreaterxXx2334 (talk) 10:20, 15 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

I saw two different days of you changing editing, not one "batch".
You'll notice I gave you three notices instead of the full four. I give lots of notices when there are lots of violations, as a matter of course. I want to get a person's attention quickly and strongly, and I am fed up with unreferenced changes to genres, with various people warring with various others about whether it's glam or prog or metal or punk. Binksternet (talk) 18:33, 15 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes but you have to give me chance to see the first warning and to respond to it before adding more warnings! TheamDreaterxXx2334 (talk) 18:50, 15 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Where did you hear that? I get the feeling you are not a new editor, despite this account being six days old. Binksternet (talk) 19:26, 15 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
What do you mean? I made an extremely basic observation... It just doesn't make sense to add more warnings before I've even had chance to see the previous one... TheamDreaterxXx2334 (talk) 23:50, 15 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
At the instruction page Wikipedia:WikiProject_user_warnings/Usage_and_layout#Levels, it says that I could have jumped straight to a Level 3 warning, without issuing a Level 1 or Level 2. I could even have jumped straight to Level 4. Blocked editors who are using sockpuppets don't get a pass. Binksternet (talk) 02:33, 17 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your edit here has been reverted. Changes to music genre's require reliable sources, discussion and consensus before any changes are allowed. You may start a discussion about your purposed changes on the article's talk page to establish consensus for your changes. Mlpearc (open channel) 03:57, 22 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dream theater

edit

Hi, I respect you as an editor as I can see you want/are trying to improve the DT articles, I am willing to make a deal on what's best for the genres on the article page, I agree that hard rock should be added back, if you agree art rock shouldn't because unlike hard rock non of their albums are labelled art rock and rather just have minor styles/influences of art rock, Lukejordan02 (talk) 13:46, 15 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I agree. I had another look at the two references for art rock, and they do indeed imply that Dream Theater incorporated the genre into their overall sound, rather than that they WERE art rock. TheamDreaterxXx2334 (talk) 00:05, 17 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

This is the final warning that you will receive regarding continued genre changing without discussion or sources. If you choose to continue, as you did at Brown Album, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Binksternet (talk) 02:35, 17 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
