Warning
edit- You should really warn people to put down whatever they're drinking if you're going to say things like this; that's easily the funniest thing I've read this year! — Matt Crypto 20:20, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you
editThe article you created: Fahrenheit (Third Album) may be deleted from Wikipedia.
There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:
The faster you respond, the better chance the article you created can be saved.
Finding sources which mention the topic of your article is the very best way to avoid an article being deleted {{Findsources3}}:
- Find sources for Fahrenheit (Third Album): google news recent, google news old, google books, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.
Also, there are several tools and helpful editors on Wikipedia who can help you:
- List the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
- You can request a mentor to help explain all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
- When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept. - You can vote to merge the article into a larger or better established article on the same topic.
If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 01:07, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Carbon Fibre/Carbon Fiber
editWhat's the wiki regulation on British/US spelling differences, and why didn't you change it to 'fibre' if it pained you do much? It would be great if wiki created a feature that allowed articles to be written in either US or British English (or any English for that matter), and then automatically displayed the page in the spelling of the viewer's choice.Mr Pillows (talk) 00:33, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry I missed this before. Check out Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English for some more information. the wub "?!" 14:40, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi. If you do decide to expand this article with material from An Encyclopedia of Swearing, please expand the matching entry in our sister project Wiktionary too, to keep them in sync. It will just take a minute: Wiktionary uses the same software as Wikipedia, and the format conventions are quite obvious. Any additional information on word origins, changes in meaning, examples of current usage, related terms etc. would help to improve Wiktionary. Thanks, Aymatth2 (talk) 14:06, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Header
editI hope you don't mind (thought I notified you, but apparently not), I borrowed your header for my userpage. I did attribute you as the original creator in the edit summary, and at the bottom of my userpage. Any objections, just tell me and I'll remove it. Thanks, — neuro(talk) 12:42, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- No problem, glad you like it. I actually borrowed the general concept from someone else and heavily modified it, but I'm ashamed to admit I can't remember who it was anymore! the wub "?!" 12:47, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
DELSORT bot request
editI just noticed your bot already does work for WP:DELSORT; if you'd like to take over this bot request feel free to claim it. Anomie⚔ 12:38, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm a little busy at the moment, hence the delayed reply. It looks like you've started already, and my pywikipedia coding is a bit rusty, so it's probably best if you finish it off. Thanks for this, it should be useful. the wub "?!" 13:31, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Provisionally scheduled for February 28. Comments welcome, & seeing you there even better! Dsp13 (talk) 18:21, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Spider-Man
editHello. :) Since you have been involved in editing the article Spider-Man, I wanted to let you know that we have nominated the article for "Good Article" status. You can view the review page, and if there is anything you can do to make the article better, please do so. :) There are a number of concerns to be addressed and some work to be done, so pitch in if you are able, make any suggestions that you think might be helpful, or at least just be there for moral support. :) BOZ (talk) 01:33, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Wubbot archiving...
editI think there may be a problem with the Wubbot. The last edit at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Ice hockey by the Wubbot was Jan 25th, and there are now several articles that are ready for archiving, but none have been archived since that date. I was about to archive them myself, but figured I would shout out letting you know in case there was some sort of a problem. Thanks. -Pparazorback (talk) 04:51, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- Same problem here. Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Wrestling hasn't been archived since January 23, despite several debates being ready for archiving. I hope there's not a problem with the bot. It's very useful for lazy people like me. :) ♥Nici♥Vampire♥Heart♥ 08:00, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
It's been two weeks since the wubbot has cleaned out Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Academics and educators, despite its activity on the other deletion sorting pages. Any chance of finding out why and getting back to this page? —David Eppstein (talk) 18:40, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry about this. It's been crashing halfway through its run and apparently not informing me as it's meant to. I've hopefully sorted it for the short term, and have been working this weekend on rewriting the bot to make it more reliable. the wub "?!" 18:57, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- It has also left a lot of old stuff at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Schools. TerriersFan (talk) 05:16, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing this! Academics and educators has now been successfully archived. —David Eppstein (talk) 06:38, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
- Same with wrestling! Thanks for the help. :) ♥Nici♥Vampire♥Heart♥ 09:33, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks on behalf of WP:HOCKEY, archive successful. Pparazorback (talk) 07:25, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Deletion sorting script
editHey wub, I've recently been working on a general deletion sorting script based on Template:Deltab and implementing improvements and new features from other deletion sorting scripts, with the ultimate goal of getting it included as a component of Twinkle. The script itself (which still has a long way to go) is at User:Dinoguy1000/delsort.js, and discussion for it is at User talk:Ioeth#JS request. I figured you'd be interested in this, since you do lots of work at the opposite end of deletion sorting. =) 「ダイノガイ千?!」(Dinoguy1000) 04:12, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up. I see you found User:Jayvdb/Deletion sorting tool, which I have to admit is my tool of choice. But the code for that is quite incomprehensible to me, yours is far more readable. the wub "?!" 09:25, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yep, I tried to track down and examine as many delsort scripts as I could, to see what might be usable. For one, mine is (currently) far simpler than the deletion sorting tool (and I'm trying to keep it as simple as I can, so I can actually keep track of what's going on (I don't know much Javascript yet =P )), and my script's syntax is highlighted (I think all the user scripts at WP:SCRIPT would benefit from an update to use
<source lang="javascript"/>
, but since they all seem to be protected...). Regardless, though, I intend to borrow stuff from that script (cleaning and optimizing the code to the best of my ability, of course) as I continue to develop my own version. 「ダイノガイ千?!」(Dinoguy1000) 20:47, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Harold Alfred Whistler
editYour almost instant deletion of the stub on Whistler deprived me of a chance to improve it into an article.
I say almost instant, because I was only offline about three hours, only to return and find that the stub disappeared before I could even put a {hangon} while I tried to work it up. By the time I read the warning notice, the stub was already gone. The notice was wasted effort and an empty courtesy.
I was under the impression that time should be allowed for improvement of an article slated for deletion. Certainly, Whistler qualifies as notable, as he was honored with military decorations. A quick Google search shows enough material to at least build a Start Class article. I can usually crank out a Start Class article in a couple of days--though I must admit, my present meat world commitments would slow me to maybe a week at present.
I have become the de facto mainspring of the World War I ace bio effort. I would have appreciated the chance to save the article through expansion. I believe I could have done it.
Georgejdorner (talk) 12:22, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry about that, I should have checked more carefully and if I'd seen your contribution history I might have held off and contacted you first. But the article contained no content for over two weeks and looked to have been abandoned. The speed with which I got to it was just chance, I happened to be working through Category:Candidates for speedy deletion at the time.
- I'm definitely not making any judgement on whether he was notable enough for an article, and in fact suspect that he is. So thank you for your efforts on this. Nevertheless if you want to work on articles like this, it's probably best to either add a bare minimum of information at the start, or to work on it in a subpage of your userspace. Pages that don't contain any information are useless to readers, and I subscribe to the philosophy (although it's probably somewhat less important these days) that leaving articles as redlinks encourages creation by others (perhaps those with more time).
- I have restored the article framework at User:Georgejdorner/Harold Alfred Whistler for you to edit when you have time. When it's ready you can simply move it back into the main article space. I look forward to seeing the results! the wub "?!" 13:02, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you. Though the deleted stub was in what has become my bailiwick, I was not the one who began and abandoned it. But, as I stated, I would have tried to save it.
- At any rate, stuff happens. This stuff is unhappening, with no hard feelings, and that's a good thing all around.
