Montenegro referendum map edit

Hey - thanks for your comments. I honestly had no idea regarding which colours to use, therefore just picked the two most recognisable ones in a fairly arbitary way. I'll post an updated version of the map soonish. -Neo 22:49, 26 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello, nice map! Could you share the source of info? i.e. how did you get that this country is parliamentarism and that one is monarchy? Thanks! Renata 15:21, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Kosovo edit

I noticed you edited this article while still being under full-protection to change the wording Serbia and Montenegro to Serbia. Please note that though I morally support this, I think it is not the right thing to do, given the fact that the article was protected because ongoing edit-warring by Albanian users who oppose to it. If you had referred to the talk page, you would have realised about this.

Just want to that add that I second this opinion by Asterion. It looks like we are finally making some progress in solving the dispute, and this edit, although fully understandable, is therefore unwanted because it will only encourage some users to take a harder stand in the discussions. If I might a allow a temporary compromise to prohibit this, it would be the following wording: "...the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (later Serbia and Montenegro, which now dissolved in Serbia and Montenegro)". It is not pretty, but will make it easier to reach a compromise in the dispute, which I am trying to negotiate.Cpt. Morgan 20:48, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

On a completely different subject, please make sure than replacing {{SerbiaMontenegro-stub}} to {{Yugoslavia-stub}} is the best thing to do. This is because {{Yugoslavia-stub}} does refer only to Pre-1992 Yugoslavia (Socialist Yugoslavia and Kingdom of Yugoslavia). I noticed you used it here where it is not the right option as this entity was formed after the SFRY had dissolved. Therefore, I suggest in future you use {{Serbia-stub}} or both {{Serbia-stub}} and {{Montenegro-stub}} to replace the deprecrated stub.

I appreciate your note on the Kovoso talk page. I hope you will not mind to express your opinion at a later stage too. I personally agree with what you said but this is very hard to accept by some wikipedians, unfortunately. Best wishes, E Asterion u talking to me? 23:56, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dear Tom, thank you for your comments on the Kosovo talk page. I hope you can bring some additional views or possibilites into this heated debate. I would really appreciate it if you could try to help us out here a bit. I've been trying to negotiate a compromise for some time now, but it has been rather difficult (and thats an understatement), so we could use some 'fresh', neutral editors in the discussion. Cpt. Dear Tom, Asterion and I have proposed a version for the Kosovo text. See the Kosovo talk page. Are you in charge of coordinating the alternative version (together with Ilir)? Regards, Osli73 15:58, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Kosovo talk page edit

Hi The Tom, I just replied to your comments in the talk page. Indeed you chose a wrong time to "correct" the article, which had started a heated debate, but I guess you understand now. Regards, ilir_pz 23:50, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

European politics edit

Hi!

I'm looking very much forward to see what changes you have in mind for the table. :) Also, I've just created European Parliament election, 2009 -- be sure to add whatever information you have to it! —Nightstallion (?) 20:09, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

One final issue, though: Are you certain it's a good idea to have the Movement for European Reform in the table, when it has not even been formed yet and its membership is speculative? I'd advocate keeping the European Democrats for now. The other changes should be implemented ASAP, though. :)Nightstallion (?) 00:26, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Say, what happened to your plans for re-formatting the table? —Nightstallion (?) 22:56, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I hope I'm not getting on your nerves here, but I'd truly be interested in hearing your current plans... —Nightstallion (?) 08:24, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Adding Image:2006-16-d-print.jpg to ITN/Main page edit

Thank you for adding Image:2006-16-d-print.jpg to WP:ITN. However, please remember next time to protect any image that will appear on the main page. As per WP:PPOL#Uses protection should be used for "high visibility pages such as the Main Page from vandalism."

The {{Mprotected}} template should be applied to images in English Wikipedia.

For images from Wikimedia Commons, there are two options:

  1. Copy the image, upload it locally, and add {{C-uploaded}}. Or,
  2. If you are an admin at the Commons, protect the version at the Commons, and add Commons:Template:En main page. Then put {{Mprotected}} in the image description page here and protect the image to keep a local image from being uploaded here.

European Council standings edit

I thought you were the one who usually updated these? As you didn't for Topolanek (I just now noticed), I've done it now, hope I haven't introduced any mistakes into the tables... Could you cross-check, just to be sure? Thanks! Hope to see you be more active in European politics articles again, soon (though I also greatly appreciate your work on astronomical articles :)). —Nightstallion (?) 08:00, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'd prefer to leave it to you to update the template and the two articles this time around for Fredrik Reinfeldt, to prevent me from making mistakes yet again. ;)Nightstallion (?) 19:13, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Peasants edit

Hi, Tom,

"Lithuanian Peasant Popular Union" seems to be the best English translation of "Lietuvos valstiečių liaudininkų sąjunga". "Valstietis liaudininkas" (singular nominative) means, roughly, "a peasant and supporter of common people". "Liaudis" is "people" in the socialist meaning, as in "People's Republic of China". Orphaned fair use image (Image:Dion.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Dion.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Mistake edit

Don't know where you got the idea that Romania is a presidential republic; it's *not*. The tables should list the National Liberal Party instead of the Democrats, the next election is in 2008, and the prime minister is Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu. Cheers! —Nightstallion (?) 11:51, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

New ultra-right EU party edit

Hi!

Say, can you make heads or tails of this? A report in the Austrian Presse states that "the five MEPs of the Greater Romania Party will go together with 15 MEPs from France [Front National?], Belgium [Vlaams Belang?], Italy [Social Alternative? Tricolour Flame? Lega Nord?], the United Kingdom [no clue] and Bulgaria [Attack?]; one Austrian will also join them [Freedom Party]."

There's a few problems I have with this: I thought that the Greater Romania Party only had four MEPs, I don't know which party from the UK will join this group, and I don't know which parties from Italy will join... Can you help? —Nightstallion (?) 08:38, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've got a master list now, I think: Freedom Party from Austria (1), National Front from France (7), National Union Attack from Bulgaria (1), Vlaams Belang from Belgium (3), Ashley Mote from the UK (1), Social Alternative and Tricolour Flame (likely at least, I don't think the Ulivo or the PSI will join them) from Italy (1+1), which leaves another five seats which must be the Greater Romania Party from Romania. It seems the list at non-Inscrits is wrong and the Greater Romania Party really does have five MEPs, could that be possible?[2] Anyway, the name of the new fraction will be Identity/Sovereignty/Transparence or something like that, and it will likely come into being on 15 January.[3] Cheers! —Nightstallion (?) 14:53, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I've checked it now. Greater Romania Party has five MEPs, the count seems complete. The only problem is: I haven't been able to find an English-language source on IST up to now -- have you seen one? —Nightstallion (?) 18:42, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
If you do find out anything, the draft is here. —Nightstallion (?) 18:56, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Wonderful catch. I've been following this for a while, but in the English-language press thus far it's only merited sideways murmurs, such as in this article a few weeks ago. A quick news scan now shows nothing in the English media yet, but that Der Standard article seems pretty conclusive that the deal has been done. The one deviation that comes to mind is that a news story a while back speculated Jana Bobošíková would be in the far-right group. Mote's going to be crucified in the English press... ironic, really, as pretty much the only thing they hate more than the EU are Le Pen et al. Anyway, I say we move it into the encyclopedia proper.
Aye, indeed. I'll do it. —Nightstallion (?) 02:07, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Rex reagan.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Rex reagan.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 21:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
