Retlend

edit

The canned "test" message is designed to be polite and relatively neutral. I'm sorry that you were upset that I referred to your creation as a mere "test".

However.

If you're going to submit lengthy detailed articles on complete bullshit that you just made up off the top of your head, here is what will happen:

  1. the garbage articles will be deleted. Each and every one of them.
  2. every edit you have made to a pre-existing article will be scrutinized to see if it, too, is garbage; if so, it will be removed.
  3. you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

This is not a threat or a warning. It is a statement of consequences.

You have no idea how much total garbage gets submitted to Wikipedia each day, and how much time and effort is spent removing it.

Weirdness and Wisconsin aside, Wikipedia is neither a playground nor a dumping ground. If (as you claim) you feel it is a "great place", then treat it as one. DS 14:04, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Feel free to delete. You are quite strange indeed. Nice page.

[Fleetwood Mac#Fleetwood Mac (white album)]]

edit

Hey there... Just so you know, your link to The Beatles white album was deleted by another user. I saw the deletion and thought that you were right in linking to it, however, the link was not quite clear and, well, ambiguous, so I suppose that's why the other editor removed it. I replaced it with clearer context. I hope you will find it okay. Thanks for your attention to wikipedia. Just thought I'd let you know that wikilinks are good, but sometimes we need to make it clear(er) for others, or they may see our efforts as unnecessary and revert otherwise good contributions. Hey - I'm new here and don't know if I worded this correctly, but I hope you get my point. Thx again. SteinAlive | | 08:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Edits to global warming

Your edits to global warming have been wholly negative and I have reverted them. Do not restore them. Raul654 15:28, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Doubt it. Looks to be about garbage not about control. --BozMo talk 15:34, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, I didn't see where there was a citation for the temperature change statistic. Silly me. I guess I'm insane and the rest of you see it. And also, does that consensus on the talk page mean something. I thought it said there should be a consensus, and there was a consensus on the talk page that global warming was a theory in the "Global Warming Theory" section on the talk page... guess I'm hallucinating... The Person Who Is Strange 16:15, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
For the moment, the question is probably "do you want to be taken seriously"? You're not talking like someone who does. As for the talk page... measuring consensus there can be rather misleading; when people re-open old old debates few bother comment. THe consensus on the page itself is more meaningful William M. Connolley 16:38, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and wrt the talk page, please remember WP:CIVIL William M. Connolley 16:40, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

And as for the above:

edit

I have been wanting to say this for a very long time but didn't want that pesky "New messages- last change"thing to show up on those peoples'screens. Id rather they not see this:

Now I get it! The consensus on THAT page is much more meaningful because YOU AGREE WITH IT! Now I understand, but please, can you give me a list of statements Your Holiness agrees with for future reference, so I know which consensuses are valid? Thanks SOOOOOOOOO much. Bullshit always! YCAGWYW Lennon quote

edit

I also know there's a quote out there by Jagger saying how he admired the Beatle's use of the choir and how he would like to try something like that. I'll have a look, but cite that Lennon quote soon. Stan weller 21:58, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I noticed that removed my tag for the speedy deletion of Gleeking by reverting it and calling it vandalism. Instead, next time please place the hang on tag and write why the article should be kept. Cutno (talk) 01:12, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:23, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
