We've had a problem with an editor using multiple IPs and usernames using those identities to abuse consensus. Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Socks of Shran/CantStandYa. Rather than blocking the IP addresses an ArbCom member sugested it'd be better to sprotect the articles that he edits. The intent is to get him to stick with one identity. It's not an ideal soultion, but the best I know of. We should keep the semi-protection on for only short times, but hopefully it'll help. -Will Beback 17:34, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Mecha_symbolsmall.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

You are invited to vote at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rationales to impeach George W. Bush (2nd nomination). All this is is ramblings/blog/rants about Bush. Not encyclopedic, should've been deleted long ago. Happy editing! Morton devonshire 21:33, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think the one Bfraga uploaded (and that currently appears on the article) is fine, although one common aspect that is missing is the three vertical stripes on either side of the águila. If I remember correctly, they are green, red, and blue, in that order, to symbolize both Mexico and the United States. I remember reading about this somewhere. But failing a new image, the current one is acceptable.--Rockero 15:10, 13 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

naming immigrants

edit

If you have a strong view on the subject please read and then change or comment on the proposals and arguments at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (immigration). Please don´t revert to an alleged 'standard' which does not exist while neglecting to contribute to the creation of such a standard. Kalkin 23:50, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re Plyler v. Doe, there was a revert war a while back on the issue of "illegal" vs. "undocumented" immigrants. It seemed to die down after the June 26 edits. I'm concerned that your most recent work may open up old wounds. Please check Wikipedia:Naming conventions (immigration). A simple appeal to the AP style book, without regard for the larger overall discussion, doesn't seem appropriate here. Richwales 18:06, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks much for your contribution to the standards debate. I responded there yesterday - forgot to leave a note on your talk page, making up for it now. (Don't get misled by this. I will not be checking Wikipedia more than twice a week for another month at least.) Kalkin 23:52, 2 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Violation of 3RR rule

edit

You are either dangerously close or have violated the 3RR rule on the Reconquista article. Please be aware of it. This is just a warning.Mosquito-001 12:54, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Note to all who might view this: I never was even close to commiting the above violation, and the record reflects that. TheKaplan 04:14, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Category:American liberals

edit
  • Looking on your userpage I see that you are somewhat conservative in your views. Even though there is a category labeling "American conservatives", the category labeling "American liberals" is up for deletion. This is obviously by liberals who don't want the bias pov of liberal celebrities and public figures to be known. So they don't want them categorized as what they are...liberals. I'm asking you to go to "Category:American liberals" follow the link to the nomination page and please vote to keep the category. -- AmeriCan 18:00, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hezbollah Userbox

edit

Hello, would you kindly remove your Hezbollah Userbox. There have been discussions about tsuch a userbox. is a link to such a discussion. If you choose not to remove it, I will kindly assist you in such an action. Thanks for your help. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 20:50, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

On a random note, I just noticed this ("And I probably would have cleaned this one out with all the other superfluous ones, but since someone tried to remove it"). above the userbox. It appears as though the only reason you have left the box there is to Make a point, which is not a good idea. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 20:53, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

WP:CVU status

edit

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! Help at two three articles

edit

Hi, I read your user page and we share an interest in metal music and in support of the USA. Saw some of your edits and would like to invite you to Anchor baby, Elvis Presley, and Electronic Voice Phenomenon to offer assitance with wording and editing overall. The later two are trying to achieve 'featured' and 'good' status respectively. Keep up the good work. --Northmeister 23:24, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Mecha_symbol.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Mecha_symbol.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:38, 10 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jusjih 00:38, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
