Espirito Santo Tr

Creating the women's worlds t'ments has raised questions conc. female players names. Early t'ment results sometimes states "Mrs" followed by husbands first and last name. Some players are named their birth last name and in later t'ments their married last name. (For example Anne Quast played under four diff. names.)

I think; players with a link to an own article, no problem, use the name used at the time (like Liv Forsell 1964-1970, Liv Wollin 1972-1980).

Players without a link; Avoid "Mrs" and husbands first name if possible. Note both last names, before and after marriage, to make it possible to follow it's the same player in diff. years. Ok? EEJB (talk) 16:02, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

And what about Korean and Chinese names? Ryu So-yeon or So Yeon Ryu or something else? Sometimes they want to be known as I.K. Kim, Grace Park or Amy Yang, then it's easy. But the others? Result reports are not always consequent.

• I just came to this talk page out of curiosity, noticing the recent edit to Poppy Wingate, and saw this item about women's names: I'd remind everyone concerned that with all biographical articles, but especially women, it's important to provide a redirect from every name by which they were ever known and all reasonable variations! So we have redirects from Hannah Sophia Wingate, Poppy Eadie, Poppy Hinchcliffe and Lady Hinchcliffe for this twice-married lady known by a nickname, just to be on the safe side. Tiger Woods/ General Reults in Majors

Two things, first for early golfers, the order of these changed often. Results are still reported by year by "decades." Having early 21st century golfers listed reults with 2019 "out of order" would not be inconsistent.

Regardless, you treat 2020 differently as the order was not normal anyway.

European Challenge Tour

As far as I've found, the Challenge Tour started in 1989 with its Order of Merit. In 1986 the national tours of Sweden, France and Italy became open to foreign players, ( https://alpstourgolf.com/about-us/ ) but it became a tour in 1989, covering several countries, and it was called the Challenge Tour at the beginning of 1989, but maybe officially named the Challenge Tour in late 1989 ( http://www.e-magin.se/paper/08tbtd6q/paper/123#/paper/08tbtd6q/122 ) ( http://www.e-magin.se/paper/08tbtd6q/paper/159#/paper/08tbtd6q/159 ) ( http://www.e-magin.se/paper/j0btbf03/paper/1#/paper/pr35c39r/70 )

centering rows for q-school info

I just created a bunch of pages for all of the q-schools between 1965 and 1989. It sounds simple but I am having much trouble centering information in the first column (where the players' placing is). Other than the first row it is left-indented. Do you know how to change the indent?

Michael Campbell PGA Tour

If Campbell was never a member of the PGA Tour, then why is (n/a) not a factor on the 2005 PGA Tour page? Surely it's standard procedure and consistent when non-European Tour members win on the ET on their season pages? Jimmymci234 (talk) 16:47, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Yeah true, but I would say that's probably because every player who's won the PGA Tour has either been a member or became a member soon after their win e.g. Garrick Higgo of recent. Just came across this... Just wondering, how do you know Campbell never became a member? The PGA Tour has a whole site for him. Not saying this guarantees he was a member but maybe. In addition, he played at least 10 events a year on the PGA Tour several times...

But if Campbell never became a member I think we should be consistent just include the (n/a) next to his win total. Thank you for spotting this.

Hi Oog, I suppose it would be hard to find something that says in black and white that Campbell was never a PGA Tour member. Although, when I went through his results on his PGA Tour profile, the only events he played were the majors, WGCs and invitational events i.e The Players, Bay Hill (which are open to non-PGA Tour members as long as they are eligible). Even after 2005 it was a very seldom amount of events he played in USA. If he was a member there would definitely have been more regular tour events he would have played in, in order to keep his card. Hopefully that makes some sort of sense. Thanks. Thank you for the response. Yes, it looks like Campbell was never a PGA Tour member. I think we should just put (n/a) next to his name in the 2005 PGA Tour calendar.

In addition, I think there are other golfers like this. Ian Woosnam comes to mind. He won two events on the 1991 PGA Tour however I don't think he ever became a member. He never played more than eight events a year. Also, I think I noticed on someone's sandbox page that even a couple years after winning the 1991 Masters Tournament (which then gave a ten-year-exemption) he still refused membership. I think it was on the page of Jopal22 or Wjemather. Any clarification would be helpful.

Yeah you’re probably right Oogly. I think it may be the same case for Seve Ballesteros. Back then it was not very common for Europeans to play more of their golf in the States, they all played full time on the ET, so subsequently would’ve never taken up PGA Tour membership (how times have changed!) Even Martin Kaymer didn’t take up PGA Tour membership when he originally won the 2010 PGA, it was only a number of years later when he decided to move across to the States. Hey, I wanted to respond to this. Ballesteros briefly did join the PGA Tour. I actually put this information on his PGA Tour page a couple years ago. He joined for the the 1984 and 1985 seasons. I am almost positive that the other three guys (Faldo, Lyle, Langer) from Europe's "Big 5" of the era joined the PGA Tour, at least briefly.

Otherwise, I can't think of any other international players who won on tour and never joined. Can you?

If it is mentioned in an article by a reliable third-party source (e.g. Sports Illustrated) then can we use it? And if it is mentioned exclusively in DonorsLookup is that not ok? Just looking for some clarification.

Small font re no. of wins

I noticed that you undid the small font text on my Japan Golf Tour edits. I suppose it is within MOS:SMALLFONT, which is fair enough even though I would argue that it makes the tables look less neat. But my question is, are you willing to change this so that every golf page on here is reflective of that, rather than have some pages that are and some that aren't, which is ultimately inconsistent. Tour column

I can see where you're coming from re PGA Tour Latinoamerica abbreviation use in the tour column. However per discussion last year at WT:GOLF [1] we decided that relpicating OWGR abbreviations made the most sense in relation to this. The abbreviation 'SAM' is also explained in the notes as well. Aye very good. Those tours didn’t feature on the OWGR so some abbreviation has to be used (happy to discuss those if you think something else would be better.) Don’t think it makes more sense to change to PTLA. More people will be familiar with SAM abbreviation as they would have seen it on the OWGR pages and it has simply been replicated here.
