Thank you for fixing the HTML on the Katara article!

Hi Hammer,

You may not have noticed it, but the edit you just reverted is being discussed on the talk page of the article itself. The sourced info I supposedly removed is present further in the text. As the Israeli-Palestinian articles are subject to Wikipedia:General sanctions, I would ask that you self-revert to avoid anything that looks like an edit-war.

After having a look at your edit history, I am somewhat curious as to how you happened on the Gaza beach blast (2006) article... Could you care to enlighten me?

Cheers and thanks, pedrito - talk - 10.06.2008 15:13

Hi Hammer,
Uhm, no, the sources are the same as those in the article and as stated in talk, the assertions made in the lead are not supported by the sources. The way to go here is discussion -- which was underway -- and not revert-warring.
May I ask who on IRC gave you a tip to the article?
Cheers and thanks, pedrito - talk - 10.06.2008 15:25
Hello again, Hammer,
Well, the discussion will continue on the talk page there. You may be interested to know that I have reported User:Jaakobou for soliciting uninvolved editors to score reverts for him on delicate articles.
Cheers and thanks for your frankness and honesty, pedrito - talk - 11.06.2008 06:38
Hi Hammer,
Just one last quick question: as per the discussion on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Arbitration enforcement#Jaakobou soliciting random editors off-wiki, most notably User:Gatoclass' comments regarding WP:CANVAS, could you comment on how User:Jaakobou approached you? A clarification on your behalf would definitely help close this case.
Cheers and many thanks, pedrito - talk - 12.06.2008 11:03

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Martin4647‎

Where did this user say that they were going to translude their RfA? I can't see any evidence of this, and I'm tempted to remove the RfA before it's closed as a snowball. The candidate may not have forgotten to add it, but rather, was still in the process of finishing it. Where is the indication of wanting to transclude? In addition, since it's a self-nomination, the user is supposed to add it themselves. Thanks. Acalamari 17:18, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Totally agree here 10lb. Where did Martin say he wanted that transcluded? He doesn't even have a nom statement written yet. Without evidence that Martin greenlighted you to "transclude for him", I recommend getting rid of it ASAP out of fairness to the candidate. I know of several "bluelink" rfa's that are not transcluded (and may never be). Keeper | 76 | what's in a name? 17:26, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't believe you did it in bad faith. It's just that self-nominations really should be added by the candidate, and I think that it would have been wiser to have asked the candidate if they knew how to transclude the RfA rather that to go ahead and transclude it. Since the user's RfA is being heavily opposed, it looks like they'll end up with a snowball RfA that could have been avoided. Acalamari 17:29, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
I've told Martin that I would delete the page if he so wishes... I don't think a premature RfA that might not have been intended to go live should count against the candidate in the future.---Balloonman PoppaBalloon 17:34, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Allegations of apartheid deletion notification

Some time ago, you participated in a deletion discussion concerning Allegations of Israeli apartheid. I thought you might like to know that the parent article, Allegations of apartheid, was recently nominated for deletion. Given that many of the issues that have been raised are essentially the same as those on the article on which you commented earlier, you may have a view on whether Allegations of apartheid should be kept or deleted. AfD on Albophobia

Do you know how to do a second deletion nomination for this article on Albophobia please? I tried it but notice the article was nominated for deletion once in 2006 but survived the vote. Nothing has happened since then to improve this article. Someone recently tried to prod it (see the article history) and said on the article's talkpage that it was essentially a half written dead dead end page but his prod was removed. The article doesn't have independent third party sources at present and is not very suitable as is. It has WP:DICT issues. Regards, Artene50 (talk) 05:42, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Dear Bobby, How will you type in the 2nd nomination code? Am I suppose to wipe out the previous archived discussion here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Albophobia? I've done many prods but not a second article deletion nomination. All I know is that to place an article, you first ype in {{subst:afd1}} as you mentioned. Since I then get this page, I think I either have to wipe out the first archived discussion or type in article or type in {{subst:afd2 | pg=PageName | text=Reason for deletion}} (2nd nomination) below the first archived discussion. It sounds awkward since this is my first experience here. Artene50 (talk) 00:01, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry if my user name raised some confusion, I guessed I lacked of imagination. From what I've been able to find, Neilsen BDS launched Canadian charts in 1996. The all-genre top 100 singles were - and still are - published by Canoe. I don't know where their country music singles chart was published, if they kept one at all, prior to 2001, when Canadian Music Network launched a weekly magazine in May. The charts were made available on Radio & Records' website starting in June 2004, and CMN ceased publication in 2006. Eric444 (talk) 18:36, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

BlackHawk (band) vs. BlackHawk

Not a big problem with the tone, just surprised. There is a lot of incivility going around right now and yours was a nit. In any case, I totally dislike the issue of title spelling. This is a long standing problem for me and how to treat it. Over time I have become a fan of dab pages so that users are not directed to wrong pages. When we try to draw distinctions between things like Blackhawk, black hawk, Black hawk and Black Hawk we need to take a conservative approach and make sure that we don't send readers to the wrong place. Minor differences in spelling are confusing. That's my opinion, do with it what you will. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:57, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

TopoSys GmbH

In my opinion, it does not seem to offend no one and to promote any particular product. I guess that the text is rather simple and honest. It is true that I edited a couple of articles to make a connection to my article, but it was just my intention to create links to a page that has no links at all. But I can perfectly understand the reasons why the article has been located into the deletion pages, I just don't seem to see it the same way. The sources are all official, TopoSys GmbH and a couple of scientific articles. It seems enough for me, as I don't want to spam the page with one reference per paragraph referring to the company's website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Piodsys (talkcontribs) 18:16, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

No, sorry, I want to re-target the redirects so that "Paprikash" goes to Goulas instead of Pörkölt.

• [Paprikash turns up as a red link. • • yes, there is no article on Paprikas, but Paprikas is mentioned and described in the Goulash article. But if you type Paprikas you get to Pörkölt, also a stew, but with very little information on the dish. It is a bit complicated. • By the way, this is good too.

In an emergency, this user may be slapped with a trout

There isn't an article on Paprikas because it's similar enough to other dishes.

Yes, and probably there is no need for that either,

Paprikás is a redirect to Pörkölt, and that page has a link pointing to goulash.

Yes, I made that remark.

So technically, there already is a page on it, it's just scattered about.

True. That is what I am trying to solve, this scattering or culinary confusion. People have complained about this... I can't solve this problem.

You saw it here first

Bobby,

This is just a friendly notice since you involved yourself in the discussion of my biography in Wikipedia.

Finding my biography in Wikipedia two years after it existed, was a great and joyous surprise for me. It is in fact my first foray into the Public Domain in 11 years, since my last attempt at elective office. Everything I have contributed to this site, all the discussions with all the Administrators, is self published material in a public forum.

The mainline media, CNN in particular, is portraying the current economic crisis in Apocalyptic terms and totally unexpected. The record bares witness that on July 3, I made this statement in Ground Zero talk:

The global system is just entering the time when this line from Rev.18 will be seen and believed: And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buys their merchandise any more. This is precisely, exactly what the current financial crisis is all about.

Peace

I gotta say I'm not too thrilled with the closure of the CfD either.... I see two supports and two opposes and one comment. How does this become a "keep"? Whether the article is BlackHawk or BlackHawk (band), the categories don't need "(band)". I shoulda jumped on this a little quicker I guess. Erm...I wasn't the creator of that article. If you check the history... not only was it a different name... but none of the words i wrote are present on the current versionOsirisV (talk) 17:49, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

REALLY!!?...hm... If I was warned... It would have been logical to put it on my Usertalk...OsirisV (talk) 17:57, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Have to agree, no one by the name of Twinkle contacted him about it. Ripster40 (talk) 00:53, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Leslie Hindman auction

Please take another look at the AFD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Leslie Hindman Auctioneers. I checkec Google Book search and Google News searsh and there are lots of reliable sources with substantial coverage. Promotional tone of the article is a cause for editing, not deletion, when good sources exist. Edison (talk) 20:10, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Re: Northwest Plaza

Don't know. I have been trying to look into the mall's history. Here is another, more exhaustive list of what is needed.

  • 1) When did Dillard’s become a Clearance Center? I discovered it had been that way since January 2007, but that's it.
  • 2) When did Boyd’s open, close, and what was it? There was an article on Google News that seemed to indicate it was a charter tenant that sold upscale women's apparel.
  • 3) When did Tilt! Family Entertainment Center close?
  • 4) What crime happened at the mall? There was an article from Google News, but the link was broken. We all know about the 1994 Famous-Barr murder, but others happened too. Most of the vandalism on this page involves the mall being full of gangsters and thieves and void of stores.
  • 5) The theater was a Wehrenburg theater, and apparently it briefly closed for a time in 2001.link
  • 6) The same article indicates that the arcade was remodeled in 2001.
  • 7) I need pictures, but stealing them off of Labelscar, while feasible, doesn't sound right.
  • 8) I don't know what OfficeMax used to be.
  • 9) Most of the reference articles are for sale, so a better way for remote research would be to email a St. Louis library.
  • 10) Still looking for the exact opening to Stix. It did open in the 1970s, but that doesn't say much.

Extremely fast AfD closure with just two votes. A new record? Consensus?

Retching Red was put on AfD at 16:42 by Redmarkviolinist, you voted at 16:49 and 17:11, and without any other votes or discussion you closed the AfD at 18:40. I'm glad the two of you are in such fine agreement, but giving the rest of the community just under 2 hours to look into the matter is very short. Do two votes equal "concensus"? I've seen Speedy Delete nominations hang around longer.    SIS  00:18, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

I closed it so fast because I had put the band's article up for speedy deletion. It met speedy criterion A7, so I closed it once the band's article and their albums were deleted. AfD and speedy can overlap if the speedy is valid, and in this case, it was. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 00:19, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
That's the point, I'm not sure I agree that speedy was valid. The band is run by Cinder Block (yes, what's in a name) of the notable Tilt (band) and Danny Cole of equally notable Creepy (band). So we're back to "A musician or ensemble is notable if it contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable". Two members of two bands, in this case. Unfortunately I didn't even get the time to add this to the AfD nomination. A little Google would have gone a long way here.    SIS  00:33, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Otters, if you wouldn't mind mind, could you give TenPoundHammer a note that he might want to amend the closure to explicitly state it was a speedy? Thanks, guys. I'll bring crackers next time. lifebaka++ 15:07, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Theo & the Skyscrapers

"Could you please put a little more info into new articles when you make them, or at least a reference?" Of course sir, but I didn't realize I needed to go into the history of the members other bands in huge detail. I thought simply putting their bands names in parenthesis would be enough. My mistake. Need to say this

Your law rules. :) Exactly right. And yeah I do wonder why people do this over and over again, but they do. It's like people are just dying to see rumors "in print" so to speak. I don't get it. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 11:48, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
