California dairy industry
editThank you very much for your additions to California dairy industry! Do you plan to expand the article further? One of the ways for an article to qualify for Did You Know on the front page is a 5x expansion over a seven day period. That would be a fair amount of writing but I just wanted you to be aware. I saw your excellent Feedback (pork industry) which would have been a great article for Did You Know! It’s well worth the small effort, particularly for fairly little known topics like that. Best, Thriley (talk) 21:28, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't know that was one of the criteria for that. Would have loved to put it on there. It definitely took a lot of work to research[aside 1]
- I'll probably add a bit more to California dairy industry (not sure if 5x), but I've also been wanting to start another page about foam depopulation[aside 2] after doing some work expanding the Ventilation shutdown article and reading about that more. Does the 5x expansion include from the start of any article's draft pages? Couldn't quite figure that out from Wikipedia:Did you know/Guidelines. Regardless, I tend to edit in a way that fits well with that 5x figure, so I suspect I'll run into that somewhere, so thank you for letting me know about that
- Also thank you for taking the time to reach out to me! I really appreciate that, and greatly respect anyone who goes out of there way to show appreciation to others.

- ^ Trying to avoid matching any websites asking for feedback was a pain.
- ^ There's even some good and striking photos for foam depopulation on Wiki Commons in Category:Foam-based_animal_depopulation, but no English Wikipedia article about it as far as I can find

- 5x improvement doesn’t matter in drafts. If a draft is accepted as an article, you have seven days to nominate it for DYK. This is usually the easiest way to reach DYK. 5x expansion of an existing article can be a lot of work unless you’ve started with a stub. Thriley (talk) 19:33, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
- Ah I see, thank! TB5ivVaO1y55FkAogw1X (talk) 19:55, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
DYK for Foam depopulation
editOn 28 March 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Foam depopulation, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that foam has been used to kill farm animals en masse in a process called foam depopulation? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Foam depopulation. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Foam depopulation), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi, I just saw your article for hock burns. Great work! Thought you might be interested in Chicken of Tomorrow Contest- I created it recently. It’s a big topic- basically created the modern broiler industry from what I understand. Thriley (talk) 04:21, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, that does sound interesting. Will take a look into that! TB5ivVaO1y55FkAogw1X (talk) 16:33, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
