Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Kolar Gold Fields. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.  Abhishek  Talk 15:31, 1 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello Abhishek,

I added this external link to mitigate a gap on the KGF page. The gap is that the page does not say anything significant about the Anglo-Indian community or culture prevalent in KGF in the 1950s. I wonder how we can get that information included. Possibly Bridget (the author of the page I linked to) and I could write a para or two, and provide a reference to some of the material that Bridget and I have created. In any case, the link was not commercial or advertising because the website linked to follows a zero-revenue model (no ads, no subscription). subodh6417Subodh6417 (talk) 13:46, 3 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

External link in Independence Day (India) article

edit

Thanks for adding the external link in the article. The collection of personal memories of the day is a nice addition. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:41, 10 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Reply: The links I have added are not spam - not even close. They are not linked to any commercial website or product, so there is no question of advertising or promotion. The Indiaofthepast website gets no monetary benefits from more traffic, and the purpose is not to alter search engine rankings. The links are to external articles that truly add value to the Wikipedia articles, without disturbing the Wikipedia text in any way. Please visit the indiaofthepast website, and reconsider your views. Subodh6417 (talk) 20:00, 13 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Your site does not meet WP:RS. Please also see our conflict of interest policy and our page regarding single-purpose accounts. If you continue to add the links, your account will be blocked. OhNoitsJamie Talk 20:19, 13 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
