Re:Beowulf
editI think some of the quotations in the article could easily be summed up just as much in a few words and would give the article a lot more quality. What do you think? —Mizu onna sango15Hello! 21:25, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- I've been looking over the article for the past week or so; I think it looks good to go. They're going to ask you to make a lot of tweaks, so I don't know how much you'll have to change from there (and they may pick a bone with you for having the soundtrack on the same page), but as far as general content, Beowulf is ready. Happy Thanksgiving! —Mizu onna sango15Hello! 15:05, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
You got most of the system articles to GA. I suggest you check wp:GT and wp:GTC. Nergaal (talk) 05:17, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Cleaned up HD 40307 and its planets
editI cleaned up HD 40307 and its planets b, c, and d, so you can see my differences. BlueEarth (talk) 21:38, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Expanding other star/planet articles
editIn addition for expanding HD 40307 and their planet articles, you should expand other host stars and their planet articles (like HD 181433 and its planets, and HD 47186 and its planets, also discovered with HD 40307 planets). You could look at the list in list of stars with extrasolar planets to pick. BlueEarth (talk) 21:38, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Jerry Bruckheimer filming Deja Vu.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Jerry Bruckheimer filming Deja Vu.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:14, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Hi, I used some of the suggestions you gave me on improving the article and tried to make some of the necessary minor edits. Also, you said I should maybe expand on information about the "ATL production notes" link at the bottom of the page. I wasn't sure exactly what you meant by that, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks. GAN Review: Beowulf (2007 film) on hold
editHi! I was looking at the article you submitted for GAN, Beowulf (2007 film), and I noticed that it still has cleanup templates. This is a quick-fail criterion for GAN, and so I have to put the article on hold for Good Article status until these issues are resolved. Once all the cleanup template issues are fixed, and the templates removed, notify me on my talk page and I will lift the hold on the article's candidacy and continue the review. (I'll look in on it now and then, but notifying me on my talk page is a sure-fire way to let me know that the issue is fixed.) Good luck, and happy editing! ~SunDragon34 (talk) 03:27, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Re:Infobox Dilemma
editHi, I've expanded the infobox on the HD 2039 article to use the full starbox. Sorry about the delay but I had to take a short break from the Wikipedia. Icalanise (talk) 18:05, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Del Mus
editThanks for the grammar check. I went over it a few times, but I fully admit I am terrible at proofing my own work. I might look into finding some extra catalogues or articles for a Nomen. section. Originally I did have one, but ended up deciding it was rather futile since Delta Muscae really is more or less unknown, but deserving of a page in my opinion since it has been at the very least catalogued since 1603. I just wanted to work on something myself without stepping on others' toes. Now that Del Mus is awaiting a GA review I'll see what more important articles I can work on. I'm thinking Regulus or Castor. Castor is a 6 star system which is pretty impressive. Alas, I am rambling on your talk page. Haha. Anyway, thanks again! SkarmCA (talk) 14:25, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- I read over the article again now that I'm home for work and I'm quite pleased with the copyedits you did. The wording is much improved in several instances. Kudos! I decided more or less on doing Regulus next and posted on the talk page to see if anyone is interested in collaboration. I'd love to have you help if you're interested. There's so few FA/GA star articles and so many important stars to choose from I almost had to choose randomly.
- Since you mentioned it, here's what I did before writing Del Mus: I looked at Sirius and Vega originally and knew there was no chance of getting that much material (by a long shot, sadly) for Del Mus. However, I referenced Mu Arae, another GA, and checked out your current GA nominee as well for reference. The only thing short of Mu Arae, my main comparison, was that it has extrasolar planets and gave it a whole new section. SkarmCA (talk) 23:59, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Lincolnshire PR
editFinetooth comments: I copyedited the lead and the first section and then turned to more general things. I have a few suggestions for improvement, and I'll just post them here as I would if this had gone into the PR system.
- You are right in thinking that a top-to-bottom copyedit would help. I wasn't finding big problems, but I found quite a few little ones in those opening sections.
- I began to get bogged down in the "Incorporation and post-incorporation" subsection. I wasn't sure what "ceded" meant in phrases like "... organized a residential subdivision out of the ceded town of Half Day... ". I wondered who ceded it. Perhaps this means that Half Day ceded the land to developers, who then created Lincolnshire.
- I wasn't sure what police coverage had to do with "livelihoods", which usually refers to incomes. Maybe "lives" would be better or "safety".
- I was confused also by the long sentence: "Lincolnshire's government initially supported a conservative and cautious approach, and refused the annexations of two corporate park divisions in the 1980s; however, opposition to the village government's methods, which supported a quick growth to rival the increasing affluence of surrounding villages, won out in later years, overseeing the cessions of the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort and Lincolnshire Corporate Center over a period of years starting in 1983". I would suggest breaking this into pieces. Something like this might be better: "Lincolnshire's government, initially cautious, refused to annex two corporate park divisions in the 1980s. However, villagers who favored rapid growth aimed at keeping up with surrounding villages, pushed the government into overseeing the cessions of the... ". I'm not sure what "overseeing the cessions" means, so I can't quite complete this sentence. I stopped copyediting partly because I didn't dare guess at meanings. The next sentence in this paragraph is also too complex. I'd use a period in the middle instead of a semicolon. The next sentence is also too complex. Because they are so complex, you can split them without creating the opposite problem of one short sentence after another. I'd aim for the middle ground.
- Numbers from one to nine get written out, but bigger ones are usually written as digits. This also applies to constructions like "19th century".
- Precipitation figures for rain are generally given in mm rather than cm. It should be easy to change these in the precipitation chart.
- I'd suggest replacing "eponymous" each time it appears in the article. A lot of readers won't know what eponymous means. For example, you might say said something like "the proximity to the metra station in the village of Prairie View, an unincorporated community near Lincolnshire's western borders... "
- The article seems almost but not quite comprehensive. Geography might include at least a mention of geology (rock types, soil types, geological history), and the village's elevation above sea level might fit in here somewhere. The Climate section might include something about snow and wind and might mention locally famous storms such as tornadoes, if any. The Economy section might include statistics about employment and income.
- Sourcing generally looks OK, but claims such as "districts that are academically advanced compared to the majority of American schools" need to be sourced.
- I think the lead should probably be three or four paragraphs long for this particular article. It should summarize the main ideas in the text sections below, and it shouldn't introduce ideas not developed in the text sections. Thus, for example, the claim about the "academically advanced" schools belongs in the Education section, with reference to a source, and might or might not also fit into the lead.
- The phrase "retrieves its water" is unusual. I assume that the village buys its water and that the water arrives in a pipe. "Retrieves" usually means "goes and gets it".
I hope you find this partial copyedit and brief review to be helpful. The article is interesting and gives a fairly complete and clear picture of the village. If you can find the time, please consider reviewing another article, especially one from the PR backlog. Finetooth (talk) 04:46, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Starstriker, thank you for your note. I hate to say this, but I don't have much free time at the moment, and so I'm not able to review your article right now. After the first of the year, my schedule should free up some, and I may have some free time before then, so when I get a few minutes your article will be second on my review list (someone posted just before you on my talk page with a similar request, so they'll be first). I hope for you that someone grabs the article before I get to it, but if not, I'll be there as quick as I can.
Just as a note after taking a quick look over the article, though. It looks really short and crowded with all of the graphics/boxes and so little text. I would suggest looking for ways to expand the text or shrink the boxes. Dana boomer (talk) 18:37, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- I've opened a review at Talk:HD 40307/GA1. Please comment there. I'm satisfied enough to pass it but want to make sure you're okay with the (minor) changes I made; if not, you can undo them. Icalanise was also concerned about the short text, but I don't see what could be usefully added, unless you wish to dump some content from the planet articles into the star article. editExcellent work! I removed two stub templates that were still on the article for you. Also, I'll GA review it this evening or tomorrow if someone else hasn't picked it up by then. Regards, SkarmCA (talk) 17:40, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).
I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.
If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!
If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.
Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 00:27, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
GA review for Eps Aurigae
editI am in the process of reviewing the article. It looks quite good but needed a copyedit so I'm in the process of doing one on this subpage of the talk page. Let me know when you're finished making the changes and I'll pass the article. Currently I've only done the first few sections, but will finish it up as time allows. Hey!
editWow, you've done quite a lot on Wikipedia! What I do is mainly fix grammar mistakes, but in the future I would like to translate articles into minority languages, such as Nahuatl and Inuktitut. But first I have to learn those languages, of course. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Supernaturalist (talk • contribs) 02:29, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
