Multilingual films edit

Did Kaikala Satyanarayana and Mohan Babu act in Guru (1980)? In Telugu version, they appear. Did Rallapalli act in Shankar Guru (1987)? In Telugu version he appears. In Super (2010), Ali appears. Why are not they multilingual? — Preceding unsigned comment added by PhysicsScientist (talkcontribs)

Okay if this is true, then you can add it because I was under the impression they were only dubbed rather than made simultaneously. Jolly edit

Hai Srivin. Did the Telugu actors I mentioned act in the Tamil version of Jolly?

Never knew that this film had Telugu version, if Telugu version has filmed, i dont think they would have shot scenes with different actors. Sadly youtube doesn't have the link atleast it could have been used as source, please do check the film in television if it is true and also don't forget to include more films reshot with diff. actors under "Partially reshot films". When I watched Arjunpandit I had notice there was similarities from om Kannada film . It turn out that director copied the story and didn't take credit from upenda . I watch Telugu remake of om there was female journalist who learns about satya and madhuri's story from madhuhi's sister and Arjun pandit where a dying gangster told the male commiseratr about Arjun being teacher turned gangster by love. Kannada audience noticed Arjun pandit similarities with om which lead upendra filed lawsuit against makers of Arjun pandit after the film was flopped.--Sunuraju (talk) 07:37, 11 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Screenplay edit

Does screenplay mean story? Main Sunder Hoon was directed by Krishnan-Panju but had screenplay by Balachander as it was remake of his own film Server Sundaram. Leta Manasulu, the Telugu remake of Kuzhandaiyum Deivamum was directed by Krishnan-Panju. The latter had screenplay by Javar Seetharaman. Does it mean the former also had screenplay by him?PhysicsScientist (talk) 11:03, 23 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Story means concept, screenplay means plot written in a scene by scene order. Yes, Javar Seetharaman wrote the script. Srivin (talk) 11:08, 23 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Gross edit

What it gross - money earned by a film or profit ?PhysicsScientist (talk) 06:49, 22 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Don't you know?PhysicsScientist (talk) 13:50, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I don't know about this. Srivin (talk) 14:06, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
PhysicsScientist, "gross" is a basic accounting term that represents all the money brought in by a venture. Let's say you run a restaurant that collects 2 million Euros from customers per year. That's your gross. When you subtract your expenses like employee wages, the amount you spent on lettuce and other ingredients, your rent, you're left with a "net" (or "nett" as they say in India). If you did well, your net will be your profit, but your net may also be a loss. In Indian cinema articles, gross is all the money that was collected for a film. Nett gross is all the money collected minus entertainment taxes, and nett, I believe, is all the money left over. In Wikipedia film articles, we typically only care about two values: the film's budget, and the film's gross. Let the trade papers be obsessive about the microfinancial details. Hope that helps even though the answer is late. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:41, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

WP:PEACOCK at Vijay (actor) edit

C'mon, Srivin... with 11,000 edits under your belt, you should not be submitting gloriously fluffy content like this. "Huge" is subjective, and is certainly not the tone expected of an encyclopedia. "The Earth is a huge 93 million miles from the sun." No.

"Second most popular" is obviously an opinion and should be presented as such, by attributing the opinion to a specific reliable voice, ex: "Forbes described Vijay as the second most popular actor in South India according to their XYZ poll released in DD MONTH YYYY" or whatever.

"Despite his adulation"? "Prestigious Rs.100 crore club"? "Remarkable feat"? If you intend to continue editing here, you need to be aware that your personal editorials are inappropriate in an academic resource. If you haven't already, please read WP:NPOV and live by it. Oh, and "one of the most searched actors" is glaringly misleading if the source says Kollywood, which only represents a tiny niche of the world's population or interest. I implore you to please avoid these mistakes in the future. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:24, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

I also find it very odd that I find the same content about the 100 crore club written verbatim in this cached version of an Indiaglitz article, or in this blog post. This would tend to suggest that the content was copied from one of these sources, which would be a violation of our copyright policy and would constitute plagiarism, which is a serious breach of academic integrity. It's also possible that one of these sources copied content from Wikipedia, so I'm not accusing you of it, but if you did copy content, do not do this again, please. Prose must be written from scratch in your own words unless you are directly quoting and citing. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:32, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your suggestions, my intention was to expand the article as everyone knows that he is one of the successful stars in Tamil cinema and also considering that June 22 is his birthday, I updated information regarding his popularity. I do not know whether the information I updated is wrong or the references used is wrong. Maybe you can do something to make it precise without making it appear trivial. Remakes of Telugu films edit

Prequel edit

I believe that you are incorrectly adding films to the category "Indian prequel films". According to Prequel, it is an earlier time frame of a previously released work. The first film of a series does not qualify as a prequel. Only if it came out after one of the others. For example: "Billa II: The Beginning is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language gangster film directed by Chakri Toleti. It is a prequel to Billa (2007) and focuses on how David, an ordinary man from the coastal regions of South Tamil Nadu, becomes Billa." BollyJeff | talk 01:05, 17 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the explanation, I got the word "Prequel" wrong, I thought first part is a prequel. Srivin (talk) 02:49, 17 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

WP:CRYSTAL edit

Hi Srivin, sourcing is the only thing that makes Wikipedia even remotely believable as an academic resource. When you add content with no sources as you did here, you do not improve Wikipedia's strength. There are very obvious embedded notes in the cast section which you somehow ignored, but even if there weren't notes there, you should know by now that any claim about a future event needs to be sourced per WP:CRYSTAL. We're not here to make unfounded predictions about the future. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:50, 3 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the late reply, I updated the cast after watching theatrical trailer of the film, I dont know whether trailer is reliable enough to be believed in. Srivin (talk) 13:10, 4 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, trailers aren't always the best sources to believe as many scenes in them may not always make the final cut of the film. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:27, 4 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Unexplained reordering of cast edit

Hi Srivin, I'd appreciate if you'd please not reorder cast as you did here without providing a rational explanation consistent with existing guidelines. Per Template:Infobox film, we derive the |starring= contents of the infobox from a film poster's billing block (the printed text that typically appears at the bottom). Obviously the Raaz Reboot poster doesn't have a billing block, (like many Indian films) so that raises the question of where you got this order. The film hasn't been released, so you didn't get it from the official onscreen credits. We have an ongoing problem with people reordering cast based on arbitrary personal preference, which is disruptive. There was a whole thing a while back, where two editors were idiotically battling over whether Mammootty or Mohanlal should be listed first. The fight began at Twenty:20 and carried over into numerous film articles. It was ridiculous. Since film posters and onscreen credits are pretty much set in stone because they're widely published, and they are primary sources, we use these resources rather than newspapers and typical online sources. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:33, 18 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
