Re: your message on User talk:Falcon8765 about User talk:96.253.179.2

Hi. When you copied that message over to Falcon's talk page, you copied the part saying, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page - which means it alerted a helper and...here I am! So...

For the past five years, this has been a static IP address used by me and my family. There are only three of us here, and a few guests; I can't imagine any of us has edited anything on Wikipedia, let alone maliciously. After looking around I couldn't find a way to locate the unhelpful edit that came from my IP address; perhaps it's not archived that far back? I do see from this message that it was reverted on or about 10 January 2010.

Could you let me know if it's still possible, and if so - how?

Thanks for your help. I know it's not a huge deal, but for my part I certainly want to make sure none of MY family or friends has ANY hand in polluting something as awesome as Wikipedia.

You can see their contribs by clicking 'user contributions' in the toolbox on the left, when on their user talk page, which takes you to Special:Contributions/96.253.179.2.

By clicking on the '(diff)' part you see the DIFFerence between the edited texts - so the edit mentioned is this one.

However, I wouldn't worry overly; IPs change and are used by many, and sometimes there are 'false positives' - which is why it's always best to log in use an account, etc.

All edits are remembered, forever - except deleted pages, which can only been seen by administrators, and rare cases removed for legal reasons and so on.

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!
