Good morning. I am German and with the help of an English guy I try to bring my article in English Wikipedia. My problem is that I don´t know how to place "References", "Literature" or "Weblinks". The site to explain for example the "References" was cancelled in 2011. In other articles I cannot see examples in the "Edit"-area to learn about signs, abbreviations, etc. Thanks for your help in advance ! --Silberbelagwaren (talk) 9:02, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Silberbelagwaren, and welcome to the English Wikipedia. I take it that you're referring to the draft at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Silveroverlay? All you need to do to add your references is this:
- Go to the sentence in the article that you need to reference.
- Immediately after that sentence, write
<ref>
. This tells the software to treat the text that follows as a reference. - Add the details of your reference.
- After that, close the reference with
</ref>
.
- So, for example, I might cite the sentence "The specific feature with German Silver overlay is the degree of purity" in the article like this:
The specific feature with German Silver overlay is the degree of purity.<ref>Jones, Terry; ''The Big Book of Silver Stuff''; Madeup Publications, 2004</ref>
- The reference that you cite won't appear in the text (all that will appear is a footnote marker) but it will appear at the bottom of the page under the heading "References", transcluded by the
{{reflist}}
code there. - For weblinks, make a new heading at the bottom, ==External links==, and add links in the following format:
[http://www.examplewebsite.com A sample website]
(note the single, rather than double, square brackets). Make sure you check the rules on suitable external links first. - For more help, feel free to ask me, leave a message at the Helpdesk, or check out the Teahouse. Happy editing! Yunshui 雲水 07:35, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
