DYKHousekeepingBot Good

Shub - Thanks for the reminder.[1] Keep up the good work. -- Jreferee (talk) 07:50, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Glad you like it :) Shubinator (talk) 18:56, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

16:00, 11 Nov. 2013 update was not performed by DYKUpdateBot

FYI,

DYKUpdateBot failed to perform the scheduled update at 16:00, 11 November 2013 (UTC). Prior to the update there was an edit by an anonymous user to User:DYKUpdateBot/Errors([2]). Looks like the bot lost its session data or was otherwise logged out before the update was attempted. Will be watching to see if the recovery code kicks in for the update at midnight (UTC). --Allen3 talk 16:17, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Recovery code kicked in for the 00:00 (UTC) update, so DYKUpdateBot is back in business. --Allen3 talk 00:07, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for keeping an eye on this. When I get some more spare time, I'll try to look into why the bot didn't notice it was logged out - I thought I'd protected it against that sort of thing. Migration to Tool Labs will likely take higher priority though. Shubinator (talk) 07:21, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
Should be fixed with this change. Shubinator (talk) 21:10, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

DYKHousekeepingBot appears to need a restart

Looks like DYKHousekeepingBot has experienced a logout/loss of session data problem. Last edit to Wikipedia:Did you know/DYK hook count was several hours ago and was performed by an IP[3]. A restart of the bot would be appreciated. --Allen3 talk 10:02, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Done :) Thanks! Shubinator (talk) 04:44, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

DYKcheck Feature Request

This is just to let you know that I left a note for a feature request at User:Shubinator/DYKcheck#Ideas for development about showing the original prose size with the 5x expansion statistics. It seemed easy to implement. If you don't want to, would you mind if I implemented it? Thanks! APerson (talk!) 03:25, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

I'm fine with you implementing it as long as it doesn't slow down the script too much. I'm curious how you would detect original prose size - currently the script doesn't know the "original" date. Shubinator (talk) 06:01, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Request for DYKHousekeepingBot

When it is editing the list of approved hooks, can the bot please now say approved instead of verified because the new word explains it better. [4] Rcsprinter (cackle) @ 09:50, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

I personally like "verified" better, but I'm open to changing it. Why "approved"? Shubinator (talk) 16:01, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
"Verified" doesn't really mean anything in terms of a review. It's not clear that it means "reviewed and approved for promotion", which is what it needs to convey. Rcsprinter (parlez) @ 19:32, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
"Approved" seems too rigid though, and presumes that the nomination cannot be unapproved. I don't see a clear-cut case for "approved" over "verified", but if you feel strongly about it, feel free to start a thread on WT:DYK to gauge consensus. Shubinator (talk) 04:41, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

DYKUpdateBot

failed to update around 1:44 AM 12 December. Please have a look. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 05:27, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Network connectivity issues again, the bot's auto-recover code kicked in and it looks like it's back to normal. Thanks! Shubinator (talk) 16:12, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

DYKHousekeepingBot taking an unannounced holiday

Shubinator, I don't know whether it got caught at a gigantic 48-hour sale or stuck somewhere in inclement weather, but the last update was over 39 hours ago, at 05:22, December 16, 2013 (UTC). If you can get it back in gear, that would be great. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:38, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

It was playing with cyber reindeer, I've brought it back to reality. Thanks! (Maile as well.) Shubinator (talk) 19:18, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Many thanks, Shubinator. I won't ask whether it now has a red nose... BlueMoonset (talk) 06:16, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

DYKcheck and Drafts

Hi, This is part three in my apparently ongoing series of related requests, the previous ones being in March and April 2012. This time I'm asking you to modify DYKcheck to recognize moves from the new Draft namespace. (Example move.) There's certainly no hurry to get this done. Thanks, MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 09:09, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

I happened to have made this request just before a flurry of activity requesting your assistance below and on WT:DYK, so I suspect it may have gotten overlooked. As I said, there's no hurry, so I'm not nagging you, but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't missed. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 21:29, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, haven't missed it :) There are a few things that will take higher priority, for example moving the bots over to Labs, but this is on the list. Shubinator (talk) 07:01, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
For the record, this was implemented as indicated here. Shubinator (talk) 04:53, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Help!

The DYK bot got stuck on my page! Thanks for all your amazing work :) [5] Gareth E Kegg (talk) 10:33, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

DYK Update bot malfunctioning on user talk pages

Shubinator, the DYKUpdate bot has been malfunctioning since the DYK sets that began about 24 hours ago. It mal-forms the template notification on the user's talk page. — Maile (talk) 13:05, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

Some users have noted that User:Ameliorate!/DYKmake has recently been deleted, could that be the problem? Gatoclass (talk) 07:13, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
See also this thread. Gatoclass (talk) 07:50, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

It appears that the relevant pages in Ameliorate's user space have been undeleted, but at some point they should probably be moved to formal wikispace. Gatoclass (talk) 05:26, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, looks like the crisis has been averted. Long-term we should remove the references to Ameliorate!'s space, specifically these:
I can take a crack at cleaning this up tomorrow. Did I miss any pages? Shubinator (talk) 07:18, 21 December 2013 (UTC)
Too sleepy to go after this tonight, and I'm traveling tomorrow, but it'll happen in the next few days. Shubinator (talk) 07:28, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Done. Shubinator (talk) 17:29, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

A problem from DYKcheck?

Hello! I've created an article named Basketball at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games – Men's tournament, I used the DYKcheck on how many characters it has. It seems the DYKcheck didn't counted some words in the statistical leaders and medal winners section of the article even though they are not in a table or in a template. Does the words count? btw, I'm currently nominating it for WP:DYK. Cheers! FairyTailRocks (talk) 08:43, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

It is working by now. FairyTailRocks (talk) 17:17, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
