Content removal

edit

Hi - I removed your content at Bride scam for a couple of reasons - the main one is that we are not a How-to guide - in our articles we explain what something is (be it a person, event or criminal activity) but we don't get into explanations of *how* an individual should deal with those problems. Tied to that, we never directly address the reader in our articles, so when writing, you should never use "You" - as in "if you find you have been the victim of such a scam, you should..."

Does that make sense, drop me a line if it doesn't. --Cameron Scott (talk) 17:21, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Was my previous explanation difficult to understand in some way? The content you are trying to add is completely unacceptable and cannot be used in it's current form, there is no point simply re-adding it as it will be removed. --Cameron Scott (talk) 19:04, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Am I speaking dutch or something? I'm trying to think (outside of drawing a picture) how much clearer I can make this - you cannot directly address the reader, IT IS NOT PERMITTED. Writing things such as you will be asked to send money to this person is directly addressing the reader, IT IS NOT PERMITTED.

Do you speak english as a second language? Is that the problem - if so, let me know what your host language is and I'll get someone to translate. --Cameron Scott (talk) 17:02, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

You refuse to communicate, you keep adding in unreliable content from dubious sources, I think it's time you were blocked. --Cameron Scott (talk) 17:04, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Plagiarism issues

edit

I have addressed this numerous times in class: WP:PLAGIARISM and WP:COPYVIO is not acceptable. You have taken content verbatim from other places:

  • "This is why many men turn to overseas mail-order bride services. These services, which have been around for decades, if not centuries, today take the form of websites." comes from www.ehow.com/way_5752210_precautions-getting-mail_order-brides.html
  • "The sex trade is one of the few avenues available to poor, uneducated women who strive for economic advancements" comes straight from [1]

This is unacceptable. Please rewrite your content into good English, neutral (encyclopedic, impersonal) style, and using your own words before readding it. The following guides may be of help: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Second-person_pronouns (Do not use the second person (you, your); it is often ambiguous and contrary to the tone of an encyclopedia), Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Instructional_and_presumptuous_language, Wikipedia:Copy-paste (you may not copy-paste text from other sources into Wikipedia), Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk to me 18:49, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
