Sleeping Beauty's Magic Castle edit

After looking at the RV in the article, I can see why you would think that I created that edit, but I didn't. Please review the history, and you'll see that there was an intermingling of your edits and someone elses. They have since apologized on my talk page for that particular edit and causing a ruckus here.SpikeJones 14:30, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Disney documentation

One request -- please dial back the snippiness in your talk page commentaries. We're all professionals here. Thanks. ANYWAY, to the subject: it is well documented and common knowledge amongst disneyphiles that Roy purposely renamed WDW from DW in order to maintain the "Walt" portion of the name and maintain Walt's legacy. It's mentioned on Disney tours, by Disney historians and staff, and is mentioned elsewhere in WP (see the Walt Disney World Railroad article, or the Roy O. Disney articles, for example). If you are going to insist that that particular fact be individually cited, please followup and make sure that all other references to that fact are cleared up and cited on WP as well. Otherwise, we'll have inconsistency amonst the articles, and we can't have that. As for physical references to Roy O's renaming WDW, there are countless articles and biographies that include this item. Which one would you like to use? SpikeJones 20:06, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Any one would be fine. I was aware of the Disneyworld/Walt Disney World thing as well, but it seems people love contributing these little snippets of information to the Disneyland page but absolutely no one has yet quoted a proper source, which is making such an important article look quite bad. I don't understand why you didn't just replace the citation tag with a citation if you know so many? That would have been a step in the right direction. SergioGeorgini 20:18, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I see. I commented on that talk page. The Walt Disney World Resort has a more complete paragraph that can be used to find the specific citation you're looking for. (it's hard to cite "Disney staff tour guide's tour information" -- as opposed to random cast member -- as a source.) SpikeJones 22:07, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Disney World Template

You're changing of Template:DWR, does make it look better and more concise on the pages. I just picked green originally for the template to set it apart from the Disneyland one, so it was pretty arbitrary and if you think the color should be different then go ahead and change it. When I first made the template I put a link to it on the talk pages of both Wikipedia:WikiProject Disney and Wikipedia:WikiProject Walt Disney World to ask for people's opinions. I only got one response that time, but I'll try again and see if they want to come to a consensus on the coloring scheme. Right now, although the Template:DLR is blue, the infobox for Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure are both yellow as is Template:DCA. So I'll see if anyone responds so that there is a consensus and everything is uniform.Phydend 16:29, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Linguistic issues concerning the euro

I agree there aren't many sources, and that's a good reason to say the article is unsourced. But I take issue with your criticism of sources in other languages. It's a bit silly to expect to get good information in English about language usage in Danish and Dutch. Most of the information out there is not in our language, and it is our job to bring it to English-speakers who don't speak those languages, not to say that if no-one has said a certain thing in English then it's not worth knowing.

Sources in languages other than English are perfectly acceptable. This is made clear in WP:V. If you don't know how to read them, then what you do is you put a "verify sources" tag on the article, not an "unreferenced" one (although your tag is justified for other reasons). I haven't been very involved with the article, so I hadn't read the sources. But I can confirm that the Dutch source says that the euro sign goes before the number. Joeldl 16:39, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

I see, you're right, it is allowed, but clearly not preferred (I thought it wasn't allowed at all). But I didn't remove them anyway. I do speak enough Dutch to agree that the information was properly translated, but the entire article seems to be based on what people happen to know about their own countries or the ones they visited on holiday. It needs a lot more sources than it currently has, and preferably not just twenty-five in continental-European languages.

The French version of that article seems rather excellent, by the way. SergioGeorgini 18:37, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

I've had a look at the French article. There are certainly lots of footnotes, but not many sources. I think there's more of a French focus there than an English one here. The table is nice, but it seems almost sanitized, not hinting that people sometimes reject the official rules (except for French, where they can feel good about saying centime because the Académie française has recommended it.) Dollar sign

I understand what you mean. However, as the Cifrão is only one of the multiple theories on the origin of the dollar sign, I doubt it would be widely accepted by other wikipedians. I have nothing at all against the Cifrão theory and I provided a valid reference to back it up. Simply, I just do not think that merging Dollar sign to Cifrão would give a balanced picture. And viceversa, I believe Cifrão deserves its own article. The reason why I deleted the merge-to tag was because the request was badly formed, in the sense that there was no explanation about it on any of the talk pages. If you want to reinstate the tag at Dollar sign, please explain your reasons for a merge in the article talk page. Also, can you please clarify if you meant merging Cifrão into Dollar sign or Dollar sign into Cifrão? Regards, --Asterion^talk 10:25, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
