Thanks for uploading Image:ASU college seal.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Edits to Albany State alumni table

I think the changes I just added on your references will stand up a little stronger. The google search references tend to be shot down more often than not. If a google book is found on google, that isn't necessarily a google search reference. It is a book accessible through their database correct? It is a book no less..an e-book. Thanks Absolon, I uploaded that image with the intent of using it on the asu page. I changed my mind and of course had no way of deleting it. lol Maybe it can be used on the page in the future in some way. Is the athletic logo necessary? Maybe it can take the place of that as an official brand logo of the university. similarly Emory University has an official brand logo on its page in that area.Scotcra1 (talk) 20:29, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Images and logos

Oh ok..I didn't realize it linked to a search page. That was incorrect. Thanks. I just saw the resized logo on the page and the offficial logo. The athletic logo is huge on the clark page too. is that a new wiki standard or something? for the logos to be very large? I noticed on the morehouse college page that their college seal is blown up to the point that the resolution is bad same for clark atlanta university seal. The images can be resized by adding a pix count in the code. I went with 100px originally, but it seemed really small (on both Clark Atlanta and Albany State). I was going to play with the sizing later when I got a little free time. (I decided to go ahead and make them all 200 px. The Morehouse logo is a mess because the originally loaded file is tiny, so to make it visable (150px) it had to be stretched. That large you can see all the distortion. The edits I've made have been in line with wikiprojects. I have put logos in appropriate areas and corrected incorrect information. logos at the top and bottom of infoboxes do not have to be seal then athletic logo. Absolon: Please take a closer look at the guidelines. It does not necessitate use of an athletic logo in the infobox. the logo option at the bottom of the infobox is optional as many schools have more recognizable secondary logos other than their colleges seals. It asks for athletics information and the name of the mascot. An illustration of the mascot is useful in the athletic section of an article. Thanks Scotcra1 (talk) 18:52, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm not looking to get into some lame edit war over the issue with you. If you look at the Template usage guidance you can clearly see that the WP:UNI members have made a specific agreement on the issue. I had already decided to forget about this issue and leave wikipedia alone all together. I definitely don't want to get into a lame edit war either. It's not that serious. I did get rather confused by the insistence of having the athletic logo be the logo of choice when I have looked through so many colleges pages, hbcu and predominantly white, and found that there were different logos or secondary logos or emblems at the bottom. some of them were athletic but most were secondary school logos or none at all. the athletic logos tended to be in the athletics section. I could kinda tell that you enjoy sports and that is fine. It just looked like the sports aspect was being bit blown up, literally.(oversized sport logos) Well, anyway, I'm not an official wiki editor or administrator like you, I'm a lay person on wiki who decided to try to make some good faith unbiased contributions.

Misunderstandings like this do happen online unfortunately. I'm gonna take wiki for what it is. It's a publicly edited online encyclopedia that is more similar to an internet search engine than an encyclopedia in a lot of ways. Take care and I wish you the best also. I'm not an admin, and I've had my share of disputes with other Wikipedia editors. I simply see Wikipedia for what it is. I would encourage you not to give up. I've found it's better to look at the various WikiProjects and templates because they can give you a better perspective on how most articles should be formatted. You might also want to take a break from major content changes and volunteer for less controversial edits.

You are correct that many articles are currently out of format. That's one reason why I volunteered to work on the Georgia HBCUs as a part of WikiProject Georgia. I am currently working to standardize and expand them. Eventually, hopefully I can move on to other HBCUs. I agree the logos would be better place in the athletic section, but the Wikipedia consenus was to put it in the infobox, so that's where I'm placing them.
