More FLC business edit

Dispute on WT:FLC#During a recent spat regarding the 4 supports that each nomination must receive in order to pass, and a proposal to implement a featured list director. Thought you'd might be interested considering you close a hell of a lot of FLCs. Thanks, Spebi 08:52, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Page move edit

FYI, moved page to Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming Less Than One Hour), as per official capitalization/wording at www.emmys.org. I'd like to work on getting this article up to WP:FL status, and as I've never done that before, your help would be appreciated. I will work on sourcing. Cirt 14:45, 3 December 2007 (UTC).Reply

Annies edit

That is a suprise, you'd think it'd be nominated in a few of them I mean the animation was brilliant for a 2D film. Ah well, 4 noms isn't bad - Julie should win and it may get writing, but Brad Bird will get the other two categories its in... Gran2 15:25, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure, its possible, but its still an image of Homer... Better check with someone at the Commons. Gran2 07:19, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
The Independent is a reliable source, but that's definitly a joke article. Funny though, I'd love more British references in the show, but it'll never happen. Gran2 18:56, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh God... She was terrible first time out... but again? Although I don't know its that's really accurate, Digital Spy is useable and reliable source, but they aren't always right. I mean yeah they got the fact that the Bob episode was Funeral for a Fiend right, but that isn't always the case. Plus the article doesn't actually mention anything about here previous appearance. Gran2 19:11, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

RR 2008 edit

Maybe I was a little harsh in my wording. However, this match will be Orton or Jericho vs. Triple H or Hardy. At Vengeance, none of the wrestlers were known. I don't think it should be listed as TBD vs. TBD (I think it should be Orton vs. TBD since Orton is the current champ), but I can't revert it again. I can see where you are coming from though. TJ Spyke 03:34, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Try to ignore TJ. He loves to throw around the word "vandalism", even if it's not vandalism. His opinion on what the word means is a bit broad. RobJ1981 07:38, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

inductees of Canada's Walk of Fame edit

It is difficult to judge given that your table is currently quite mangled. However, given its size of without images, I'm not sure including as many image as possible in the table is such a good idea. Although I'm not sure it would integrate that well here, I've always favored stringing a selection of the best images on the right side of the table (cf. in List of recordings preserved in the United States National Recording Registry or Grade I listed buildings in Bristol). It's also more practical, as you don't have to go through the trouble of adding a column to the table. Circeus 19:20, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The notes are, to me, interesting comment about the subject's specific notability. As such I'm more inclined to say let's keep the notes if adding images means dropping them. But I wouldn't revert if you disagree. In either case, I don't think images in the table would work that well. Circeus 19:33, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Text align edit

I'm trying to make a list using the # format, but the list is way too long down the left side of the page. I need to know the code for making text align to the right side of the page. I tried something like this <font align = left> Text </font> <font align = right> Text </font> but it didn't work. Any ideas? --Simpsons fan 66 21:12, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I tried your method, but it makes the text move down. Check your reply on my page and note the difference between theme song and reply. --Simpsons fan 66 23:15, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok, that works great, thanks! BTW, I'm watching El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer) Great episode. --Simpsons fan 66 00:00, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
The code works great, but I'm wondering about the arrangment of the list. Its got 33 entries. Should I put all the list in order down the left side then down the right side, or should it go in order from left to right? BTW, why are all the awards on your page hidden? --Simpsons fan 66 06:55, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Archive edit

Reason I picked 30 days as prior to our archiving last night the oldest article was from 6 weeks ago and our typical talk page covers atleast a month worth of topics. 15 days is in my opinion still too short because conversations need to stay around awhile for people to see them before they are archived. -Djsasso (talk) 03:58, 5 December 2007 (UTC) Hi, this is Supermario65. I was wondering how I could make a user file like this where I could put things like, for example, my info and sticker things like: This user is a Super Smash brother. TV.com edit

At bare minimum, I'll give you the TV.com credibility, but something as obvious as the link between the episode name and the old Delta motto is hardly something that would be rationally challenged. WP:V and WP:CITE give guidance that contested information or that which is likely to be challenged need be referenced. I don't think this qualifies by any stretch. Perhaps the best solution is to keep the statement and remove only the reference tag? VigilancePrime (talk) 03:54, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I can understand the GA angle. Still, it doesn't need a source; much of Wikipedia is not directly referenced for the same reason. (Some articles are hyper-sourced for the opposite reason!) Anyway, I'll leave it to you and/or others post-this-conversation as I think we're on the same page overall. VigilancePrime (talk) 04:20, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merging edit

Hi Scorpion0422, I've perceived you've added the mergeto-tag at least to these articles: Maude Flanders, Sideshow Mel, Rod and Todd Flanders, Jacqueline Bouvier (The Simpsons) and Bumblebee Man and merged them away a little later. In my opinion, this is not a good way. The articles haven't been got out with "lawful" method (=a deletion discussion). Articles aren't should redirect and merge if deletion of the article haven't been decided with a deletion discussion. All these articles are certainly more notable than any of them over 400 articles about Simpsons episodes in English Wikipedia, and no one hasn't been going to redirect and merge them to nowhere. For example, Maude Flanders has article in 11 other language versions. --Movedgood (talk) 14:50, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey Scorpion0422, I just wanted to let you know that I answered your question about the above FLC if you hadn't noticed, here is the version with your suggestion about highlighting current players. I don't know if it adds much due to the fact that a very small percentage of the players are active members of the Packers, but its not a big deal for me. Any extra comments you had would be great! How about the {{subst:The Special Barnstar|message ~~~~}} Special Barnstar? The Special Barnstar may be awarded to a user as a gesture of appreciation for a specific reason, when there is no other barnstar which would feel as appropriate. Its either that or the working mans barnstar, but he already has two of them. --Simpsons fan 66 05:40, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Simpsons recurring characters images edit

I see you had to get rid of many images on the recurring characters page again. It was interesting to see them all come back since the last time you did it. Anyway, I was wondering if you would be against including the images removed in some other article, such as the characters first appearances episode, an episode they are featured in, etc. Because they images are still available for use, and they should be somewhere, so this is a good way to do it. It think the images add a little something to the articles. What do you think about this idea? Rhino131 (talk) 22:53, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thats probably true, but when I have the opportunity I will try it out and see what happens. Hopefully they will stay, but I won't put up a fight if they are removed. Thanks for your input. Rhino131 (talk) 01:06, 11 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

DVDVDVD edit

I've only listened to the main commentary, not the director's one, which will be separate citation. But its easier to have each commentary as just one citation. Anyway the DVDs pretty good, commentaries are great, deleted scenes are good but there arn't many, film quality is good, but it is letterbox format, but you can't them all. So its pretty good. WP:FL edit

You seem to handle many of the FLC closes. Would you like them partially automated like the FAC process? Gimmetrow 18:29, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I run it semi-automated. It looks for new tranclusion in the pass/fail logs, tags them as closed, moves the page if it's a fail (to make room for a later nomination), and updates the article/list talk page. You would still edit the log to add the transclusion, and put the article on the WP:FL list. Here is an example set of bot edits for a former FA. Gimmetrow 18:38, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I had asked at WP:FL. Point is it's easy to do this at FL based on what's been done at FA for months. I already routinely convert the talk pages of FLs to {{ArticleHistory}}. Gimmetrow 18:42, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
At FAC Raul doesn't add the close boxes; the bot does that. However, Raul also doesn't add a vote count. And yes, there is a potential lag time between a discussion being added to an archive, and the bot dealing with it. Typically its an hour or so but has run as long as 24 hours before. Gimmetrow 18:49, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Here's how the FAC archive log looks. Gimmetrow 18:53, 12 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

To close, you would add the discussion transclusion to the monthly log page. If you want to add the vote count, you could do that without adding the close tags. The bot uses the close tags to determine which articles it's worked over already. I'll have to create the FL close templates since it uses a different background color. Thanks for the kudos, I think.... :-) I like to think that I'm being given a little slack as a relatively new admin. This is one of those articles that probably needs more than 5 or 7 days' work, which is the time alloted for WP:AFD, but could be a Good Article some day. I'm not a stereotypical cashmere-wearing gay man, but I know quite a few, and this is one of those articles that they would read for information. I'm also certain that quite a few college and high school students would also want to look at it while making reports. But I'll be the first to vote delete if it is not cleaned up with reliable cites soon. Bearian (talk) 16:57, 14 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Portal:The Simpsons/Did you know‎ edit

  • It's okay if you want to add entries to Portal:The Simpsons/Did you know‎, but both for formatting on the main portal page, and for uniformity with other standards on Wikipedia, it would be best to conform with the rules set out at WP:DYK for T:DYK. That is - hooks should be no longer than 200 characters, should be phrased in the form of a question, and the information should be sourced in the original article, which should be bolded in the hook itself. Barring citations included in the articles themselves, a citation could be included on the hook's individual page. I will set the seed back to 5 until these requirements are met. Cirt (talk) 20:11, 14 December 2007 (UTC).Reply

"alternatively" vs."on the other hand" edit

I have no idea what makes "on the other hand" unprofessional (!?!), but one thing I am absolutely certain of: "alternatively" certainly does not express the meaning wanted here, as there is no alternative involved on any semantic level whatsoever that can justify it, whereas "on the other hand" carries exactly the meaning we want. If the word suits the sentence, use it. Circeus (talk) 06:21, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Portal:The Simpsons/Character quote edit

  • Portal:The Simpsons/Character quote -- Two things: Would you perhaps consider waiting on adding more until the Featured Portal discussion has completed, or at least gotten some traction? Also, if you are adding new entries, just be mindful of the precedent we've set up at Portal talk:The Simpsons/Character quote - where we try to have some variety of where the quotes come from, not repeating a quote from a character or episode until others have also been repeated, and some already have duplicates, per the list. • Okay, as long as we try to keep it dynamic and with as much variety in which characters/episodes we use as possible, which it looks like you are doing - then that's great. As for the FLC canvassing issue, I think if a user asks for my input, if I do provide it, I'll probably do so in the form of Comment, instead of Support. Cirt (talk) 18:14, 18 December 2007 (UTC).Reply
  • Looks like your quote additions overweighted a few Seasons, but as no particular character has more than 2 quotes, I think that's still okay. Thanks for the work! Cirt (talk) 19:02, 18 December 2007 (UTC).Reply
    • I agree for the most part. Though perhaps we should avoid duplicate quotes from the same episode, and should list episodes used next to each season at Portal talk:The Simpsons/Character quote ? That might be more helpful. Cirt (talk) 19:09, 18 December 2007 (UTC).Reply

Rv on The Simpsons edit

Hi, this is Nazamo here. Regarding your reverting of the added content to The Simpsons, I wanted to just cut and paste what the Wikipedia guide says about reverting. I made a good faith edit, and added comments that a notable, reputable scholar made about the show. The guide says "Do not revert good faith edits. In other words, try to consider the editor "on the other end." If what one is attempting is a positive contribution to Wikipedia, a revert of those contributions is inappropriate unless, and only unless, you as an editor possess firm, substantive, and objective proof to the contrary. Mere disagreement is not such proof. See also Wikipedia:Assume good faith." As well, the section says "If you feel the edit is unsatisfactory, improve it rather than simply reverting or deleting it." The section says "Reverting is used primarily for fighting vandalism, or anything very similar to the effects of vandalism."Nazamo (talk) 02:50, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Emmys edit

When I saw that Cirt had started work on the Animated Emmy page, I decided to improve one of the principal awards as well. So, basing it on the Golden Globes FL: Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. Its nothing really special, but have you got any suggestions as to how to improve it further? Gran2 14:05, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'll take a look at some of the other FLs. As for the dispute, I kinda don't really care whether it is or isn't included (although it does seem a bit like advertising), so I'll probably stay out of the discussion for now. Additionally, an IP just added notability tags to several episode pages, all of which I removed. As it was an IP - who used the films notability tag anyway and some of the episodes were GAs - I think its was more likely vandilism than a real cause for concern, but there you go. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Lisa and Snowball V.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Lisa and Snowball V.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 14:53, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

It isn't worth expressing your dissatisfaction at Betacommand, since it doesn't work. I got blocked for 48 hours for telling him what I think about it him, and so has Ceoil. Ceoil initially got blocked indefinitely. Really, Betacommand isn't worth the effort. You get more hassle than the worth of it, despite the fact you're really active in contributing content. Seems Wikipedia values image tagging more than writing articles, even though Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia. Strange mathematics, if you ask me. Season 4 edit

Sorry, but all I have are seasons 3 and 5, not 4. I would help out if I had it, but I don't. But if you guys ever decide to do 3 or 5 for a FT, than please tell me and I could probably help out. I do have The Simpsons: A Complete Guide to Our Favorite Family, which I thought I heard was useful, so I can give you information from it if you need it. Season 4 does look like a good choice, though, since you already have a few GAs and one FA. Again, sorry Rhino131 (talk) 02:34, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wow, a featured list. I would be delighted to help. Season 4 already has 1 FA (all credit to you and gran2), and 6 GAs which leaves 15 articles to get to GA. I think I should do that, since I don't feel confident enough to get an episode to FA. Unfortunately I'm about to go on holiday until the 19th January. When I get back I will start work on a new GA. However my next school year is going to be quite hectic since I'm taking some advanced subjects, so I don't know how much wikiwork I'll be able to fit in. Still, count me in! --Simpsons fan 66 04:13, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re:Harry and the Potters discography edit

You cannot oppose an feature list status to a list merely because it "doesn't have enough content". Please see, Wikipedia:Featured list criteria it is not a requirement. The closest requirement is "comprehensive" which the article is, as it lists all releases from Harry and the Potters. If you can find a release, unreleased song or complication appearance, e.t.c. by Harry and the Potters, then that is reason enough to fail it, however if you believe it is "doesn't have enough content" that is not a valid reason. Could you please change your vote to Support or find requirements, before allowing it to receive your positive vote. Hpfan9374 (talk) 23:17, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

do you think i should go through and delete where the episodes say "the # Christmas episode" Ctjf83 talk 01:49, 24 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
well in that case, do I delete all that say Christmas, or just the ones that aren't 100% Christmas..such as Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire, Marge Be Not Proud, Miracle on Evergreen Terrace, 'Tis the Fifteenth Season, and Simpsons Christmas Stories...and then how do u decide Kill Gil...it is mostly Christmas, but then they go through the whole year, so I wouldn't consider it Christmas Ctjf83 talk 01:55, 24 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you want something reviewed faster, why not try to take on reviewing some of the other GACs within the section where your GAC is? That would help clear the backlog and speed up the chances that someone will review your GAC next. Cirt (talk) 20:10, 26 December 2007 (UTC).Reply

Dave Gahan discography promotion edit

At the risk of being a negative Nancy, why was Dave Gahan discography promoted? I stand by my Oppose vote, and also point out that my vote was entirely actionable. I realize the FLC was open for quite some time, but the nominator didn't even make any attempt to address my concerns since I made them out: not even to argue them. Obviously, not only do I think the list is not FL quality, mainly due to some unreliable sources, but I also don't think it was a wise decision to close the FLC, much less promote it. Drewcifer (talk) 10:25, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wrestlemania III edit

Not to make a big fuss about it, but I don't think that the DVD release is notable. Every single WWE PPV has been released on DVD, and none of the PPV articles include anything about DVD releases. The fact is that sporting events are produced mainly for the live audience, and are taped additionally for people who couldn't be there. Obviously, because of this fact, the DVD releases of many live events of every other sport are not covered in their articles. However, I will alsotake the issue to WT:PW. Help! edit

In Dumbbell Indemnity, M3tal H3ad and Equazcion murdered my article. First, M3tal H3ad does his horrible review, obviously unaware of the way Simpsons episodes are like, and then Equazcion comes in, before I even know the article was reviewed, and absolutely kills the article, removing things he thinks should not be there. The two then decide to FAIL the article, without me every even knowing that the article was reviewed. As I mentioned before, neither of them know what the typical Simpsons GA episode is like, and I am furious. Please help me do something. I wish to bring back all the information I had before except perhaps the plot. Again, please help me. xihix(talk) 18:56, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
