A tag has been placed on DOT.TUNES, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Finngall talk 19:12, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

How Can I Create an Entry for a Product that Doesn't smell like Spam?

edit

{{help me}} I am trying to create an entry complying with Wiki's protocols for posting, and I'm curious if you offer any editorial assistance (aside from the tips offered throughout the site), as I have posted an entry for DOT.TUNES that was removed once immediately, and a second time under speedy deletion.

I didn't think it was particularly partial, and it was certainly not intended as advertising, but it was flagged as spam twice.

My question really goes to how to make a product or service non-advertising or spam-like.

I am a former attorney, and thought that this would be a cinch. It most certainly is not.

Hi Schukumba, you can post your article in your userspace while you develop it, eg. at User:Schukumba/Sandbox and transfer the material to article space after it is complete. As to making it compliant with policies, you'll have to make it NPOV, provide references, etc. I'll give you a bunch of links that are relevant. - TwoOars 21:03, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

You needed to tell the reader why DOT.TUNES is notable, that is, notable enough for Wikipedia. Also, articles need to be written from a neutral point of view. :-) Stwalkerster talk 21:06, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hello, Schukumba. In this case, you'd want to start with Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) and Wikipedia:Notability (web). I'm not familiar with the company, but I'll note that a good place to start establishing notability is by locating third party verification through reliable sources, like news media. If these do not exist, even if the article survived the spam test, it might be deleted as non-notable anyway. It's probably also a good idea to seek out articles on similar services to see how theirs differ from yours in terms of sourcing and information. Good luck. --Moonriddengirl 21:10, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have restored the article and nominated it for regular deletion; you may contribute to its deletion vote/discussion here. - Mike Rosoft 21:17, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have edited the article a bit; added a ref and fixed the formatting; but it is still iffy. Please add any other references that you can get. Note that the references should be third party ones in reliable sources (eg. magazines, newspaper articles, etc.). Please ask me on my talk page or use the helpme template if you have any other doubts. - TwoOars 22:16, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
