February 2011 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Human Blockhead has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.youtube.com/user/RoslynWalker#p/a/u/1/wRJU7KYae1g. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 15:24, 26 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Roslyn walker escape artist suspended straitjacket.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Roslyn walker escape artist suspended straitjacket.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Eeekster (talk) 23:26, 3 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

MfD nomination of User:Rustymagic/Roslyn Walker edit

User:Rustymagic/Roslyn Walker, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Rustymagic/Roslyn Walker and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Rustymagic/Roslyn Walker during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Charles (talk) 09:47, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Support - please see my reasons for support on the talk page of the article.Robynthehode (talk) 11:42, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Support for keeping Roslyn Walker page - I am not Roslyn Walker. I am a fan and follower of his. I have an interest in escapology, magic, circus and other variety arts. Walker has given much of his time to developing and pushing the variety arts forward. There are other performers listed within Wikipedia. People like Jonathan Goodwin, Penn and Teller etc... etc... These people have furthered the variety arts no more or less than Walker. He just doesn't do it on TV. Being on TV shouldn't automatically make a person notable. It seems with wikipedia that this is often the case. Other performer's pages are not as in depth as Walker's page. I don't think that having an informative page on a person should be automatically deemed as advertising. I am certainly not advertising him. But I do like to keep the page updated, as I would want with other notable person's pages. Rustymagic (talk) 12:44, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
The place to discuss this is at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Rustymagic/Roslyn Walker. An unwanted user sub-page can be removed by adding the speedy deletion template {{db-author}} to the page.Charles (talk) 13:57, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Although I will have to take your statement that you are not Roslyn Walker on face value it does seem strange that the only articles you have edited (or at least edited frequently) are those to do with Roslyn Walker. This type of editing often points to the editor contravening WP:NPOV. Your view of notability may be one that can be argued for but it is not the way notability is assessed for Wikipedia. Please read WP:N for how Wikipedia views notability. Lots of pages on Wikipedia lack the required citations to justify notability but this does not mean more articles and edits should be done to add to the problem. Try extending your editing to other articles related to your interests and it may then become clearer that you are not closely linked to Roslyn Walker and therefore are not making edits from a biased position.Robynthehode (talk) 16:24, 8 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Reversion of your Edits edit

I have reverted many of your edits on Edwrd le Fol (if I not spelt that correctly please forgive me). None of the edits fulfill the guidelines for notability WP:Notability. Whether you think a person, skill or event is notable does not make it notable for the purposes of Wikipedia. Please read the guidelines to prevent your future edits being reverted. Also I believe (and correct me if I am wrong) that you are person in question that the edits are about. Wikipedia is not a place for self promotion and attempts to advertise yourself. See WP:Conflict of Interest. I have left your edit on 'List of Jesters' (but removed the self promotional material) because there are other such members of the list which have the same issues. Please do not edit any of the pages already reverted without first discussing why you think your material should be included.Robynthehode (talk) 11:25, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Thank you for your explanation. I will include citation next time I edit anything. The reason I did not this time is because I was merely adding someone to a list within a larger article and had linked to that person's own Wikipedia article. I thought that since Erwyd Le Fol (the jester name of Roslyn Walker) was already deemed notable that I did not have to prove notability a second time. This is my mistake. Also, please stand corrected that I am not Roslyn Walker. I am meerly a follower of his and other variety performer's work. I love the variety arts and enjoy writing about it. If I've not quite got to grips with the way Wikipedia works then that too is something I will continue to work on.
  • Please see above for a further explanation of editing from a non point of view position. In your comments above you are misunderstanding notability. Inter wikipedia linking does not confer notability. The notability attached to Erdwyd Le Fol is that was the name of an historical jester not a modern jester using that name. Please read carefully WP:Notability. It will help prevent your edits being reverted due to them not following Wikipedia policy or guidelinesRobynthehode (talk) 21:48, 18 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
