The King's School, Ely Assesment edit

(B/Mid) This article looks solid so far. Quite a few references. Is there a disambigious page you can link to for all schools called The King's School? That goes at the top in a hatbox. The references should be put into proper {{Template:Citation}} format for GA requirement. See Requirements for good articles for more infomation. If possible, increase the number of cited alums and more third-party references. Calebrw (talk) 02:18, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I did a overview edit of the history section, and I may have erased some of the edits you were just working on. Will have a better review done soon. Calebrw (talk) 18:16, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I highly doubt you would have done any damage to my haphazard editing! :D rocketman89 (talk) 18:27, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Complete. See: Talk:The_King's_School,_Ely#Pre-GA_Assessment for the review. Calebrw (talk) 18:51, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Are you a student then? Don't worry, there is no hurry, from my end anyway. Calebrw (talk) 19:52, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Not at King's, Ely, no, for NPOV lets say not anymore rocketman89 (talk) 19:57, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's not a problem, if you edit in a neutral method, which you have clearly done. You can be a student and not have an NPOV issue. Calebrw (talk) 20:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey Rocketman, I think we should keep the peer review tag on the King's School, Ely talk page, just so we have a link to the peer review and any suggestions that come up. Also, I changed the project banners to a nested state. If you don't like it, feel free to change it back. Good luck,--Jh12 (talk) 19:08, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm no writer/copy-editor, so I can't really comment very much on the quality of the prose. But in terms of referencing (the main obstacle for school articles passing GA), this article has done well. I am slightly concerned about "The Hoop Trundle" picture. A free version should be found if possible. Alternatively, if the school has an e-mail address consider asking the school to release the image under the GFDL: see Wikipedia:Example requests for permission. I can assist with such a request. Double check to see if any more automated review issues can be addressed. Pending the peer review and with no other issues withstanding, the article should pass GA. --Jh12 (talk) 01:29, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
note, the school has an e-mail address listed here: [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jh12 (talkcontribs) 01:34, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Just wanted to follow up. Did you ever send in the e-mail requests for the cathedral picture and/or the hoop trundle? Also, you will definitely want to address the History section per the peer review. Typically, histories should be in chronological order, although I am unsure if this would bar the article from passing criterion 1 of Good article criteria --Jh12 (talk) 16:11, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey Rocketman! edit

The capitalization issue is so minor...even long-standing articles have similar issues, so do your best (See WP:Name#Lowercase). This is a very well-written and solid article and the fact that you started it from bare bones makes it even more impressive.

As for moving it, at the top of the page is a tab that says "move". Click on it and in the screen that comes up, put "King's School, Ely" in the "new title" box (the current title will already be displayed there by default). In the "reason" box, simply put a brief sentence about being more in line with Wikipedia naming conventions (WP:NAME#Avoid "the"). You won't need to change anything in the article itself or the infobox, just the article title. Happy editing! --JonRidinger (talk) 19:03, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: King's School, Ely edit

You can renominate the article immediately. I suggest a few more things, though, like expanding the lead per WP:LEAD and perhaps converting bulleted points to prose where applicable. Gary King (talk) 19:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sure, I can do that Gary King (talk) 19:30, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I almost always prefer prose. In this case, it can probably be done. Perhaps you could mention them all at the beginning, but only talk about the more important ones in detail. Gary King (talk) 21:20, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Article looks a lot better now. I suggest using {{cite web}} for references. Gary King (talk) 01:14, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Looks a lot better now. Some references still not formatted though. Gary King (talk) 22:13, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Looks good. Just format the refs and I'd say GA. As long as everything I listed in my Pre-GA review (I haven't checked) has been addressed, You should be good. Calebrw (talk) 23:26, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'll have a look within the next 24 hours. At a quick glance, it looks pretty good, but I noticed a couple of MoS/grammar issues. jimfbleak (talk) 09:54, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've done a partial ce - can't believe you put "center" what do they teach there. Watch for odd sentence construction, too mant sentences starting with adverbial clauses. I'll complete ce if i get time, please check the diffs to make sure you're happy with what I've done. jimfbleak (talk) 10:16, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
It was me and my American English that put "center" in there. I do try to use British English for UK schools, but it's hard to reverse 20 years of American English. That was from a sentence I rewrote. Calebrw (talk) 15:10, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

King's School, Ely edit

I, SilkTork, hereby award you The Exceptional Newcomer Award for your work on King's School, Ely 11:10, 25 September 2008 (UTC) (KC)Reply

Hi Rocketman! I have done a GA assessment of King's School, which can be found here. It is a very decent article, though there are some areas which need a bit of attention before gaining GA status. Look to the overall structure, particularly the History section. Tidy up the lead section slightly, and ensure it contains what is in the main body and vice versa. Look to the two slightly problematic images. I don't think you'd need do much more really. Good luck! Oh, if you need any help in doing any of the work, let me know and I'll lend a hand. Regards SilkTork *YES! 11:10, 25 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

It has been almost seven days with no progress on the article and no response to the Review. I have tried emailing you, but you have not enabled your email. If there is no movement on this issue by tomorrow I will close the Review as Failed. If I have time I may work on the minor improvements myself, and nominate the article again for someone else to look at. Regards SilkTork *YES! 20:44, 1 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
