An exchange about photo postings on Wikipedia edit
I do think the gentleman named Rob McAlear who keeps on posting his not so flattering photo of Isabel Bayrakdarian is trying to discredit her. I do ask that the photo not be used. And it is very easy to ask her agent or her webmaster permission for one her numerous publicity shots to be posted on her wikipedia page. Hello, Pashabaran. This is Rob McAlear, and I have just read your comment on kleinzach's page. I'm delighted you consider me a gentleman, but dismayed by your malicious speculation regarding my motives for posting the photo I took of Ms Bayrakdarian in 2006. Might I ask why you have not attempted the easy task of asking her agent, or her webmaster, or the person who holds copyright the photo of Ms Bayrakdarian that you most admire for permission to post it on her Wikipedia page? Why have you not made the effort of doing the requisite research, contacting the appropriate party, making your case for relief from copyright limitations, and then simply uploading your favorite photo? Why do you choose the easy route of subjective censorship of my photo, and where do you get the gall to subsequently muse that I wish to "discredit" Ms Bayrakdarian? You write, "I do ask that it not be used" -- do you consider yourself the owner of this particular page? I'm not certain you understand the nature of Wikipedia, nor the sort of candid photos that are often posted on the site.
When you have done all the things I have suggested, I'm sure we'll all be delighted with the results. Until then, it appears to me that the Isabel Bayrakdarian Wikipedia page has become your (and kleinzach's) personal crusade; I wish you luck in obtaining permission so that it might be adorned by the photo of your dreams. Hello Mr McAlear, I think being civil is also part of being a wikipedian. I don't own this page, but being a fan of Isabel's art I truly think that there are much better photos out there. Yours is simply a bad photo of hers. I'm sorry if I gave you the impression that I'm being malicious, but your insistence on putting a not so flattering photo after it was removed so many times, made me say what I said. You obviously know much better than me, how to get one of her photos. Please go ahead and obtain a photo from her organizer and let it grace this page. With absolutely no malicious intent, Pashabaran

Hello again, I'm afraid it's not that simple. If you want another photo of Ms Bayrakdarian posted on Wikipedia, then it's up to you to do the work, not me. Instructions on how to do this are easily available on the site, and others will help you. You have made it clear that you know where publicity photos exist elsewhere on the web, and who to contact in order to obtain permission to post them here. Go to work. Accomplish your goal. Don't presume to think that others (including me) will serve your astonishing sense of entitlement. I have already posted a photo, which you decided to eliminate - at least until I decide to reinstate it - for purely subjective reasons.
I'm curious: "Being a fan of Isabel's art" provides you with exactly what sort of privileges that others among us lack? I do not wish to post any other photo of Ms Bayrakdarian on Wikipedia other than the one I myself took - the one that kleinzach says is "rather ugly" and that you say so "unflattering" that I must be trying to "discredit" her. What utter rubbish!

Your first comment is clumsy, non sequitur obfuscation. Your sudden desire to collaborate - on the results but not on the work - is naïve and amusing ("I encourage YOU to find a good photo WE can use for this page"). It occurs to me that you are unwilling or unable to fulfill the requirements of your own convictions, which is the classic definition of a kibitzer. You also don't understand the nature of Wikipedia. The photos that you believe should be posted (the same photos that appear on commercial websites) are expensive to produce. Make up, costumes, lighting, professional equipment, expertise, the choice of one among a thousand photos, retouching - all of this costs a lot of money. These photos are owned by the people who paid that money, and protected from being shared or posted on a site like Wikipedia by copyright restrictions. Wikipedia is full of candid, non-professional photos like mine, which are shared by individuals who waive copyright protection. And unless you are Isabel Bayrakdarian, your impressions of my photo are not really germane.
And so it is frustrating to be confronted with an individual who doesn't seem to really "get it", but yet wishes to impose his/her opinions and preferences on others using as justification the fact that you are "a fan of Isabel's art". I have not chosen to adjust a single comma of your contributions to Wikipedia. But then I'm not a censor.
