Hello, Richlawson, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

You may also want to take the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia. You can visit The Teahouse to ask questions or seek help.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! <-- The preceding is a canned message, but I do want to welcome you, and I am inserting this welcome message before the negative messages you've already received, sorry about those!

Hey, I am sorry about the reception you got so far, with your beginning to create an article at Arrow Rock Ferry Landing. It was moved to Draft:Arrow Rock Ferry Landing where I added a bit. I would be very happy if you would edit there and also allow me to edit, so the article can be developed and then moved to "mainspace". I am a long-time editor here with my focus being on National Register of Historic Places-listed places. Somehow I noticed your edit, I don't know how, but I see it is about a valid topic.

Congratulations, you made a first edit, and you chose a valid topic. It is very hard to get started in Wikipedia because there are a zillion rules, written and unwritten, and anyone new is sure to run into opposition for some reason or another. But half the battle is picking a topic that will be seen as "Wikipedia-notable", i.e. valid for an article, and you have done that!

I will "watchlist" here so I probably will see any reply you make here, but please feel free to contact me anytime at my Talk page, especially if i seem not to have noticed something here! Cheers, --doncram 23:40, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Arrow Rock Ferry Landing

Do not put statements about plans to write a future article in article space. Your statement has been moved to draft space, because otherwise it would be deleted. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:02, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hey, don't worry about this. Do let's develop the draft article now at Draft:Arrow Rock Ferry Landing, then it can be moved into "mainspace". --doncram 23:40, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest editing

edit

  Hello, Richlawson. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 06:00, 26 February 2017 (UTC) Reply

Hey, don't worry about this, either, it is overkill. Yes, I assume you are the owner or are related to the owner of the Arrow Rock Ferry Landing site. You are still welcome to edit in Wikipedia, and I would be glad to help you edit the article and get it into mainspace. In Wikipedia there are problems with paid editors working to insert advertising or otherwise push a biased point of view, so Wikipedia has to have policies on conflicts of interest, but it doesn't apply here. The only relevant thing is that if you're associated with a topic, you need to be nice and defer somewhat to non-involved editors if there are disagreements about what should be presented. There have been no disagreements here, there is no issue! --doncram 23:40, 27 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
