Speedy deletion nomination of Redcar Past & Present

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Redcar Past & Present requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Your username

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Redcardotorg", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because Wikipedia accounts must be for individuals only, who are personally responsible for them, and accounts whose usernames are the names of groups, organizations or websites are not permitted.

Also, Wikipedia is not a place for promotion, or for people or organizations to "tell the world" about themselves. Even with an individual username, in editing about Redcar you would have, from our point of view, a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and should read that page and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide.

If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Your username may be related to your real name, or not, as you choose (see WP:REALNAME for some considerations), but it should not be the name of any other living person. A username of the form "Jack at Redcar.org" would be acceptable and would serve to declare your interest. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:11, 8 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

How to make a draft article

edit

That was a very fast rename: congratulations!

Your page was deleted because after fifteen minutes it contained no more than a repeat of the title. We do not want readers of the encyclopedia to come upon blank or "watch-this space" articles, and many new users put in a word or two and then abandon the article; so pages like that are speedily deleted.

If you want to take time over making an article, the best way is to click on Help:Userspace draft and fill in the title. That will make you a draft page where you can develop the article, with a link to send it, when it is ready, to WP:Articles for creation where an experienced user will review it and either accept it or give you feedback. You should in any case take the Articles for creation routs for articles on any subject where you have a COI.

There is good advice at WP:Your first article. Please note that Wikipedia is not for promotion of any kind: articles require a WP:Neutral point of view. Also, among the long list of things which, as an encyclopedia, WWikipedia is not, it is not a tourist guide. Having said all that, I hope there will be much that you can contribute to Redcar and articles about its neighbourhood.
