Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline edit

  Hello, RAOeser. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Vincent Illuzzi, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. BlackcurrantTea (talk) 05:10, 5 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

(copying RAOeser's response from the 14:28, 5 November 2020 edit summary here in order to keep the conversation in one place):

I did receive an email from Vincent Illuzzi containing the eulogy he delivered for his father, but do not have a source I can quote. Regarding possible COI, I do know Sen. Illuzzi, worked with him on his campaign for State Auditor, and attended the Committee Meeting in Brattleboro, but otherwise I have no on going business or political relationship. I have tried to verify all statements by posting independent citations,

RAOeser, it appears that your statement there was cut off at the end. Please post the rest of what you meant to say on here on your talk page. Thanks, BlackcurrantTea (talk) 10:13, 7 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

COI - continued discussion ... edit

To: BlackcurrantTea: (I don't think I intended to say anything else. The final "," should have been a "."  ;-) --RAOeser (talk) 14:02, 7 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ok. Make sure you back up statements with citations to independent reliable sources, avoid original research, and always strive for a neutral point of view. If there's anything you have questions about, ask at the Teahouse or the help desk. I encourage you to edit other articles as well. Wikipedia's huge, and you're sure to find something to interest you. Happy editing! BlackcurrantTea (talk) 02:39, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
