Referencing

edit

Hi Proudsalopian, yes I am a Salop fan, I try and help keep a lot of the players pages as up to date as possible, as well as doing the "current season" page!

I normally reference by inserting the following code whilst editing:

<ref>{{cite web |url= PUT THE WEB LINK IN HERE (IE: http://www.shrewsburytown.com/thisishowyoureference.html) |title= PUT THE WEB PAGE TITLE IN HERE (ie: Woods signs new contract) |publisher=WHO WROTE/PUBLISHED THE ARTICLE? EG: SHREWSWEB, BBC SPORT, SHROPSHIRE STAR, STUART DUNN ETC |accessdate=WHAT DATE YOU ACCESSED THE PAGE (IE: TODAY)}}</ref>

The reference will then automatically number itself and add itself to the bottom of the page.

I hope this helps. If you can't see what I mean, have a look on Ryan Woods wiki and click the edit tab at the top of the page. You will then be able to see how I added references to his page.

All the best, Jake

Updating players pages

edit

Hi there Proudsalopian,

I've seen you've been updating some of the players pages. Just a friendly reminder not to add your own research when editing - ie: "Style of play" section for Bradshaw (even though I do essentially agree with it!). Unless you can find an approved reference that you can cite, it is best practice to leave it out!

Thanks for finding the reference for the fee to Aberystwyth Town. I've just slightly rewritten this so it fits better into the article, I hope you approve.

Cheers

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Jayson Leutwiler, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please refer to WP:ENDASH. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:52, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Alright, no need for the hissy fit... Mattythewhite (talk) 16:35, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, no need to go OTT and start spouting crap about concentration camps. Please be more mindful of your comments in future. Same goes for your user page which I have edited to be less offensive/trolling. GiantSnowman 10:49, 13 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately your comments - both here (since deleted) and at my talk page - do appear like trolling. If you continue then it just lends further creedence to the argument that you might be WP:NOTHERE to build an encyclopedia. GiantSnowman 12:49, 13 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Michael Jackson (footballer), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Gillingham and Paul Simpson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Scott Vernon, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Removal of content (e.g. division) and removal of reference. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:31, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

The passage was cited by the official STFC website and mentioned the club plays in League Two. Not suggesting the removal of these was done in bad faith, but wanted you to know they should be included. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:14, 18 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Proudsalopian,

Please see link below. Despite representing Wales as a youth player, he was later found to be ineligible, so should be designated as English nationality. Thanks
