Speedy deletion nomination of Sumit Rathi

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sumit Rathi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Proposed deletion of Aveka Singh

edit

The article Aveka Singh has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NFOOTY, hasn't played for the senior national teambut only for the U17 so far.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. • I am going to take the liberty of offering you some general advice for reacting to a {{prod}}. Don't remove the {{prod}}, right away.
  1. It is pretty common to see an article that had a {{prod}} placed on it, have someone, often the person who first placed the prod, the nominate it for deletion under AFD. AFD is harder to deal with. Articles deleted by a prod are easier to get userified, if they are deleted.
  2. Instead ask the prod placer questions. Are you familiar with the WP:ATA essay? It is not a policy, but it is one of the most respected essays, so it is often treated as if it has as much authority as if it were a policy or guideline.
  3. You will find that some {{prod}} placers haven't thought very deeply about placing the prod, haven't read the article very well, haven't made a sufficient effort to comply with WP:BEFORE.
  4. Be polite, but try to ask the {{prod}} placer why they placed the prod.
    • If they can't really explain their reasoning, they may remove the prod themselves, rather than go to the effort of explaining themselves. This is more likely if you are super polite.
    • If it turns out they can actually explain their prod, give their explanation fair consideration. (1) they may have a very good reason for the prod, and if you can't come up with a counter-argument, accept the prod with good grace, and let the article go, or move it to draft space; (2) they may make some good points, to which you don't have an immediate answer. If they say something like "XYZ is a problem. I wouldn't feel comfortable with this remaining in article space so long as XYZ holds true." Okay, look into how you can address their concern. If they raised XYZ during a prod discussion you can be sure multiple people will raise it during the AFD.
  5. Set your calendar for six days. If you think you have addressed the prod concerns, remove the prod on the sixth day. Leave a polite explanation on the talk page, saying why you removed the prod.

If you think you have not fully addressed the prod concern consider moving the article to draft space or userspace.

That is my general advice. I don't work on sports topics, so I won't weigh in at the AFD.
Good luck! Geo Swan (talk) 23:51, 26 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
