It's raining thanks spam!
edit- Please pardon the intrusion. This tin of thanks spam is offered to everyone who commented or !voted (Support, Oppose or Neutral) on my recent RfA. I appreciate the fact that you care enough about the encyclopedia and its community to participate in this forum.
- There are a host of processes that further need community support, including content review (WP:GAN, WP:PR, WP:FAC, and WP:FAR). You can also consider becoming a Wikipedia Ambassador. If you have the requisite experience and knowledge, consider running for admin yourself!
- If you have any further comments, input or questions, please do feel free to drop a line to me on my talk page. I am open to all discussion. Thanks • Ling.Nut (talk) 02:29, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
I declined to block this IP. This does not look like simple vandalism -- in fact, it's likely that this IP is editing his own article. If that's the case, I think it's a bad idea to throw lots of warnings at him; instead, I suggest you get some help at Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard with sorting this situation out. --A. - The same applies to Limforgey. See WP:BLPEDIT.--A. B. (talk • contribs) 02:22, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for your message the reason for the Warning was the user was removing the deletion tag when an AFD is on and was blanking the article and had previously warned by other users.IO did not see any constructive editing Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 03:13, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
- You should still independently size up a situation for yourself before adding another warning on top of someone else's. In this case, the people before you were also wrong. Especially when a BLP is involved, you must tread carefully. If there's any possibility you're dealing with an article's subject, be especially tactful and point them towards resources for getting help. --A. B. (talk • contribs) 03:22, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

My RfA
editCroydon's Future - The Big Debate
editHello
Sorry - I should have contacted you first before making my posting - I'm new to this.
As background, Croydon has 10 Neighbourhood Partnerships that are community groups charged with promoting "grass roots democracy". I'm a Vice-Chair of one of the Partnerships.
Over the last 2 years, Croydon Council has been crafting a 20 year regeneration plan. The planning process is now in its final stages of public consultation. Unfortunately, despite the plan being really important for Croydon, ordinary residents have been very apathetic about it.
The Chairs and Vice-Chairs of the Neighbourhood Partnerships therefore stripped the plan down to its 10 basic topics and created a user friendly website. We're a non-political organisation that has no commercial agenda. We put in the (unpaid!) time because we care about Croydon. Our website is completely apolitical - we haven't received a penny from either the Council, or any commercial organisation or political party to create it. Our sole desire is to get ordinary Croydon residents thinking about the plan and commenting on it. As you can see, the main feature of the website is the public discussion forums.
I wanted to make a link to this website on 3 relevant Wikipedia pages: Croydon The London Borough of Croydon Croydon 2020
Unfortunately, as it was my first posts, Wlkipedia feared that I might be a spammer or a commercail organisation. If you examine the website, you'll see that it attempts to be factual and impartial. The goal is to get ordinary Croydon people to have their say on the forums.
If you enter "neighbourhood partnerships, croydon" into Google, there are pages on the Council's website that explains what they do. The Chairs and Vice-Chairs include many eminent community minded figures from across Croydon.
Let me know if there's anything else that you need to allow this external link to the website to be made.
Apologies again for my rashness! I should have contacted you first.
Kind regards

Thanks for signing up!
editHullo PotW, thanks for signing up to be an election coordinator, we are in need of help! There may be a lot of candidates declaring in the next few days, and there are a few tasks that need to be done, especially making sure new candidates are eligible, updating the guide, adding them to the Discussion page. There is a full list of things to help out with in this post, so take a look and see if it's something you would be interested in. Thanks again, and welcome, Skomorokh 12:57, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

2000 edits?
editI was just curious about the 2000 edits number in the voter log. I'm assuming it's to identify possible sockpuppets, but I thought it was quite a high number. Are there many sockpuppets that get that high? I'm just curious as to the decision behind the figure, I only edit WP when I can, so I know I'm not the highest contributor and have no problem being identified as such, though I'm a little unimpressed that the number of people voting with lower edit counts is so low. --Worm 10:40, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for your Message.I agree with you and have removed the edits marking for less than 2000.I agree it is too high.My apologies and I checked with the Election Coordinator It is not for every case Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 03:11, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for having a look into that for me. Like I say, I was just curious, I'd rather the elections weren't thrown off and would happily submit myself for any testing to make sure that's the case. Cheers Worm 07:33, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Just information, PotW. Non-English articles are not candidates for speedy deletion. The "notenglish" template is the way to go on these. See ya 'round Tiderolls 08:39, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information,I do not mark Non English for speedy but did not think it contained any anything useful in this case.Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 17:12, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of User talk:HopeRun Technology Corp.
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User talk:HopeRun Technology Corp., requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. WuhWuzDat 16:15, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- I did not create the page .Think the message was given by error.anyway Thanks.Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 16:54, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Concerning the article on Igor Morozov (singer) and your message from February
Thank you, dear Pharaoh of the Wizards, for your suggestions how to improve my article. Actually I always try to sign my changes but sometimes I'm really puzzled with all the different rules of Wikipedia in the different languages. So I'm sorry for having forgotten! I've a question: how can I improve the article on the international opera singer Igor Morozov. The articles in Russian, German and French are okay, but the one in English has been tagged since February and June 2010. The external biographies has been added a long time ago, but nothing has changed. I also can't understand how the biography of one of the leading baritones of Russia and the former Soviet Union as well as on the international world level can be discussed as "importance in question". He's even mentioned in serval other articles, but usually linked by mistake to the homonyme Estonian football player. I fully understand that there are plenty of different users with different interests and not everybody is a specialist on opera but I had hoped that there was somebody in the English wikipedia forum who would help me as my mothertongue isn't English and I've got problems in understanding the wikipedia rules (not only in English, but in general). Could you tell me how to get into contact with a user who understands the importance of the singer Igor Morozov and improves the article? Thanks a lot for helping, Angelika-DithaAngelika-Ditha (talk) 07:36, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

editHello Pharaoh of the Wizards. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know however, regarding ONICRA, that tagging articles for speedy deletion moments after creation as lacking context (CSD A1), content (CSD A3) and articles created through the Article Wizard, is too fast. It's best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), pure vandalism (G3), and copyright violations (G12) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. →Στc. 07:40, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your message which I appreciate very much.Onicra Credit Rating Agency has its own page and further if there was a disamg it should be Onicra as it known [1] as it is referred rather than a capitalized ONICRA. Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 14:15, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- Fair point. I'll create a redirect from Onicra and put {{R from capitalisation}} on ONICRA. If you want you can RfD it. →Στc. 00:32, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Hello, thanks for your message to me. I actually do need a little help. I created a page that I was sure was in my sandbox but when I finished it, it said it would be seen by everyone. Well that's ok, but I don't want it to be called PDXFulham. That's my username. I want the page to be called Glenn_Crytzer as that is who I have written the page about (Bio - musician). Please can you advise me what to do. The page itself is fine except for this. I also then created a page from the wikipedia home area called Glenn_Crytzer and it did it ok. I then tried to copy and paste the entire code from the first page I'd created into this but when I saved it, the infobox wouldn't render properly.. the image wouldn't show up at all and only 2 lines of info would print in the box instead of about 10. Thanks!

Thanks for your message. I have moved Glenn Crytzer from the your sandbox to mainspace.Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 14:23, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Owari no Chronicle
editHello Pharaoh of the Wizards, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Owari no Chronicle to a proposed deletion tag. The speedy deletion criteria are extremely narrow to protect the encyclopedia, and do not fit the page in question. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Kangaroopowah 02:07, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

A tool for your!
editHi Pharaoh of the Wizards! I've just come across one of your edits (or that you have been patrolling new pages), and noticed that you might appreciate some help with references.
I case you're not aware, you might consider using this tool – it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script:
// Add [[WP:Reflinks]] launcher in the toolbox on left addOnloadHook(function () { addPortletLink( "p-tb", // toolbox portlet "http://toolserver.org/~dispenser/cgi-bin/webreflinks.py/" + wgPageName + "?client=script&citeweb=on&overwrite=&limit=30&lang=" + wgContentLanguage, "Reflinks" // link label )});
onto Special:MyPage/skin.js, then paste the bare URL between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for PDF documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. You may consider taking on Category:Articles needing link rot cleanup. So long! --Sp33dyphil ©hatontributions 03:04, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
