Thank you on Namibian content

Hi. I seen you have added content to both articles I created Dimbulukeni Nauyoma and George Kambala. On both, you have removed the information of the two being listed as activists. On Nauyoma, you left you left him as being Secretary General. I am wondering can, I remove the office holder infoboxes on the two altogether and replace them with person infoboxes Loved150 (talk) 12:44, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Loved150! The 'office' parameter of the infobox is something people get elected to do. That's why I left 'secretary-general' but I removed 'activist', assuming that AR elects their leadership positions. If you think another infobox makes more sense, please go ahead. Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 21:15, 20 January 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, I will try to improve them Loved150 (talk) 00:42, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi Loved150! The article is good the way it is. Just needs expansion, but that will come with the elections. Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 06:29, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Thank you Pgallert, i will see to expand it after the november elrctoons. Apologies for the many enquiries, I will be dropping by on here more often for advise on the created and yet to create nam content listed on my userspace Loved150 (talk) 07:13, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Yes, sure, and no need to apologise. I'm happy to help. Pgallert (talk) 09:16, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Pgallert can you help check through my recent Namibian created content on my userspace Loved150 (talk) 16:47, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
Hi Loved150! I checked through a few of your creations, they are all good. You might want to check those 'People from...' categories, they are normally categorising where they were born, not where they are now. So for instance Sisa Namandje would be Category:People from Oshana Region for whence he came, and Category:Windhoek lawyers (once we have this cat) for what he is now. No major issue, though. Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 06:09, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
Pgallert, thanks you I will do that. Thank you for the many countless advises Loved150 (talk) 09:52, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Wikimania 2020 Bangkok

Hi Peter. I don't think our paths have crossed again since Hong Kong. I won't be going to Stockholm most unfortunately, because I really can't afford $3,000 just for 5 days in the far north of Europe. I'll leave that trip to the Europeans and the 70-strong WMF junket. But next year Wikimania is right on my doorstep. I hope you will be able to come. I will be making absolutely sure that my friends who are able to come will have a great time. Regards, Chris. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:17, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi Chris, I thought we met in London? Weren't you playing the piano there? Bangkok is high on my list; apart from Hong Kong I have been nowhere else in Asia yet. I tend not to see the scholarship announcements these days, have missed them for both Cape Town and Stockholm. Won't go this year, although this might become a really interesting Wikimania. Track 1: How and when to fork? ;) I'll try to pay attention end of this year to save at least the registration fee. Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 09:29, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
Yes, Peter, you're right. I hope you'll be able to make it to Bangkok. Your experience in sub-equatorial regions is important. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 21:56, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 04:01, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi Ssilvers! I'm sorry, I have to pass this time. I'm in bed with the flu, and not yet ready for the inevitable fight at DYK (not about your article but the one I would have to review). Next time I'll be happy to help again. Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 10:40, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
Feel better soon! -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:22, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Diversity winner
  • Gender-gap fillers

For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Itah Kandjii-Murangi

I was about to create Itah Kandjii-Murangi when I noticed that what I roughly wanted to write already sits on a Wikipedia mirror [1] but was deleted here. Could an admin please restore this version, to my user space or to main space, as there seems to be nothing wrong except that the creator was a sock. Thanks, Pgallert (talk) 05:31, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

I will do so at your request, but you will need to completely rewrite it, as attribution to blocked or banned users is quite problematic (and is the reason for CSD G5 in the first place). Improving and moving this version back to article space will almost certainly result in another G5 deletion. I suggest creating a draft in the Draft: namespace and rewriting there, using the undeleted version as inspiration. I've placed it at User:Pgallert/Itah Kandjii-Murangi. –Darkwind (talk) 19:52, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
And please tag for CSD G6 deletion as soon as you're done with it. –Darkwind (talk) 19:53, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
OK, thanks, will do that. --Pgallert (talk) 06:35, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
Done @Darkwind: Considering the circumstances, and that none of the sources was live I couldn't take over most of the basic information. So now it is only a very small stub but hopefully better than before. Thanks again, Pgallert (talk) 09:41, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
