September 2014 edit

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Adnan Sami. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism. Thank you. Please do not use the {{editprotected}} template on articles which are not protected. Thanks — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:17, 5 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have the authority from Mr. Adnan Sami himself as I work in his office & so none of you speak with the authenticity as I am entrusted with. What you have ended reverting to is GROSSLY inaccurate!! You may verify this by sending him a direct message on his 'verified' Face Book inbox. Thank you.

Disambiguation link notification for September 5 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Arshad Sami Khan, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages National Hero and Ayub Khan. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Blanking others' comments at Talk:Adnan Sami edit

Hi. I appreciate you feel that some of the Adnan Sami article is inaccurate, but the solution to this is not blanking sections of the talk page - it is finding reliable secondary sources to support your case, and getting consensus for including them in the article. It is not enough to simply assert that you know Mr Sami personally and therefore know the truth of his biography. That may well be so, but what is required here are sources, not personal experience. The talkpage is full of unsourced assertions - whoever can bring reliable sources to this conversation is quite likely to succeed in the debate.

I hope the above is helpful in explaining why I reverted the talkpage blanking, and what can be done to advance the article. Please let me know if I haven't explained myself properly, or if there's anything I can do to assist. -- Euryalus (talk) 00:22, 16 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I respect your view immensely. However, kindly understand the long standing frustration of Mr. Sami who has been seeing false inputs about his career & life being written in the most bogus fashion by anyone whomsoever. For example, please see the history & you will see that on one hand the discography stated that his 1st album was released in 1990 (incorrect!) and then above it states that he is active from 2006 till present!!! They wipe out more than a decade of a man's hard work. In yet another instance, someone wrote that he learned music from a "Maharaj Kathak"... For the record, "Maharaj Kathkak was a Kathak dancer & could not sing or play a musical instrument thus had nothing to do with "teaching" music!! Also please note that this is a living Legend we are talking about! The record HAS to be set straight by someone who has access to him to get the facts right. A;so, please note that this is a man who shifted to India, considered to be an enemy country of Pakistan & many Pakistanis resent him for it since they feel he shifted so called 'loyalties' by shifting to Mumbai & also, many Indians out of jealousy feel the same way about a Pakistani coming to their home & literally becoming a sensation in their land!! Therefore, many who contribute to his page are driven by personal animosity which we must protect him from as he is just an Artiste who loves his Art and has nothing to do with politics.. That is why, you will see the ridiculous discussion regarding his "Nationality".. In the talk comments, there was a person who claimed that he was in the same boarding house as Mr. Sami at Rugby School... Complete fiction as when Mr. Sami was at Rugby, he was the ONLY Asian in his boarding house!! Everyone is either trying to own him or condemn him at times.. So, I need your help to clean up this mess on behalf of Mr. Sami. I will be most grateful if you can help in this as here we are talking about a man who's contribution to Asian Music has been phenomenal & due to his lack of attention to Wikipedia, his page has been grossly abused. Even the pics I posted were provided to me by Mr. Sami personally thus I posted them for him & yet people just chose to have them deleted! Why?? If HE is in the pic & has asked me to post them, then why should anyone object & have them deleted?? He is in those pics and he has no objections!! Please do understand & help.. Many Thanks.. Peter Downings.

Please don't edit

Hello Peter Downings, please do not edit articles related to Adnan Sami. By your comment on Talk:Adnan Sami and here on your talk page it's clear that you are closely related to the subject. We discourage editing of articles about subjects you know in real life. Your additions to articles like Adnan Sami and Arshad Sami Khan are disruptive as you have added lots of unsourced materials which is against our policy. Although Arshad Sami Khan is not a BLP but still we don't accept unsourced materials. Beside this, your additions contains lots of WP:PEACOCK terms which is also against our policy. As you said that the subject, Adnan Sami, has told you to do this changes. That means it is also a case of WP:Advocacy which is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia. As I said, please refrain from editing those two articles, Adnan Sami and Arshad Sami Khan. I have reverted your recent changes to those articles. Please read WP:NPOV, WP:COI and WP:BLP carefully. Along with this it appears that you haven't edited anything other than those two articles, please see this too.

You might think that your changes are true but here we don't add things which are not covered in reliable independent sources. Anyway, this is a warning that you should not edit those two articles and if you continue then you will lose your editing privileges or will be topic banned. Consider this warning is from an admin. Thank you for your understanding. Jim Carter (from public cyber) 19:55, 6 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Non-neutral editing edit

Please refrain from adding promotional material and peacock wording to the Adnan Sami article. As you have admitted, you have a conflict of interest in this matter and you should refrain from directly editing the article, instead requesting any changes at the article's talk page. Note that this also applies to the associated article Arshad Sami Khan. Thank you for your attention.  Philg88 talk 05:17, 8 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

October 2014 edit

This is the only warning you will receive about ownership of articles. The next time you continue to disruptively edit Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Any further editing of the two biographies in the manner you have been doing will almost certainly result in a block from editing. DGG ( talk ) 13:43, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Explanation: One last try edit

Mr. Downings, let me explain what the problem is with your edits. The main problem is that you want to insist on your own version. That's called "trying to WP:OWN the article". You can't do that here. You don't own the article. Mr. Sami does not own the article. The article is in an encyclopedia, so it must be written in a neutral way and verified by outside sources. Things that are not verified will be deleted. Even though you or Mr. Sami know them to be true, or want them to be in the article. The fact that you are writing for Mr. Sami means that you should NOT be editing the article. You have a conflict of interest, trying to promote him.
But if there are errors in the article, they should be corrected. We WANT them to be corrected. You can help with that. Here's how: On the article's talk page Talk:Adnan Sami, post a note about the errors, one at a time. For example "The date of his first recording in the infobox is wrong, it should be such-and-such." Then people will look at what you say, and if it can be proven by reliable sources, someone else will make the correction in the article for you. That's how it is supposed to be done when you have a conflict of interest. The problem with the way you have been doing it is, you keep pasting a whole new version into the article - a version which is full of bragging language and unsourced claims and grammatical errors. The only way for us to deal with that is to revert your entire entry.
The warning above means that what you are doing- pasting your own version into the article - is disruptive. Wikipedia will not allow you to keep disrupting the encyclopedia like that. If you do it again you will be blocked from editing. So let me suggest you read the links WP:OWN and WP:COI and then do what I have suggested. Post a note on the article's talk page, saying "this and this and this need to be corrected." And let us reach agreement about what needs to be corrected and then fix the article, one little bit at a time. --MelanieN (talk) 14:00, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
