This block likely is not addressed directly at you. Open, anonymizing proxies like, and including he's service have historically been heavily abused per the checkuser logs. Socking / undeclared paid editing rings / serial harassers / etc, while logged in, and logged out. Literally anyone with administrative access to a pc can set up a tunnel, and use it to change their IP at will, ad infinitum. ^{!ɘM γɿɘυϘ}⅃ϘƧ 07:01, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Moving Puriri

Hi PatricKiwi; I was just wondering why you chose to move Puriri to its Latin name. FLORATITLES says to use scientific names "except when a plant has an agricultural, horticultural, economic or cultural role or use that makes it more prominent in some other field than in botany" which surely applies with pūriri, a popular garden/timber tree and most-commonly known by its Māori name (as it is throughout the article). All NZ native trees should probably be moved to their Māori names, by this criterion. (And if they do they should use macrons too, since that's what reliable sources seem to have switched to.) —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 21:59, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

The exceptions listed are plants that are very well known in the English-speaking world outside botany: "apple, flax, rose". This doesn't come close. As far as I can tell, the page for every other New Zealand native tree/plant in Wikipedia is titled with its scientific name, including several (e.g., Agathis australis, Podocarpus totara) that are far more well known. Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
