Help requests edit

Hi there.

Regarding your help requests on Talk:Ardwick Athletic F.C

 • Firstly, in future, please use helpme here, on your own page - and you only need one of them. Please try to give a specific question.
 • To get you going, I will add a 'welcome' message here, and some other stuff about references.
 • The biggest problem with the article (and the reason it might get deleted) is, it lacks references. In order to have an article on Wikipedia, the subject must meet the notability guidelines. The simplest, most important one is the general notability guideline, which says a subject needs significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. That carefully-worded phrase means that it needs refs to e.g. newspapers, books, or something. I will add help on how to make references on this page.
 • The article also lacks a lead section, called a lede. Please read that link; the first part, before the first section heading, should explain the context of the article - what it is all about. It should start with the article name in bold, ie something like this;
Gorton A.F.C. was an English football team from east Manchester active in the 1880s.
That will look like this;

Gorton A.F.C. was an English football team from east Manchester active in the 1880s.

The stuff in square brackets are wikilinks to other articles, and these need adding throughout the article, to link to other appropriate articles.
 • The following 'welcome' should really help; make the 'test page' and play around there.
For more help, you can either;
 • Leave a message on my own talk page; OR
 • Use a helpme - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put helpme, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end; OR
 • Talk to us live, with this or this.
Best wishes,  Chzz  ►  22:09, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Welcome and introduction edit

Hi, Pabmeista. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  22:09, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

ようこそ
 • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
 • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put helpme and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
 • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
 • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

How references work edit

Simple references edit

These require two parts;

a)
Chzz is 98 years old.

He likes tea.
b) A section called "References" with the special code "reflist";
References
reflist

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Pabmeista/reftest and try it out.

Named references edit

Chzz was born in 1837, in Footown.

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates edit

You can put anything you like between , but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals.

Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.

For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.

Real Madrid Castilla edit

I love all you Wikipedia editors! Why did you changed Real Madrid Castilla? That is the official and legal name for the team because they had played in the Segunda after the edit of banning unique club names for reserve teams. Only three teams have the right to have different name from the parent club: Real Madrid C.F., Sevilla FC and CA Osasuna's reserve teams. The reserve teams of Athletic, Barcelona, Elche, Las Palmas, Malaga, Murcia, Ovideo, Salamanca and Valencia do not have the right, but are allow to use their unique names. I think that if change Madrid, then all should change. Thank you.

September 2009 edit

  Please do not move a page to a title that is harder to follow or move it unilaterally against naming conventions or consensus, as you did to Alfa Romeo MiTo. This includes making page moves while a discussion remains under way. We have some guidelines to help with deciding what title is best for a subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you. Typ932 T·C 20:29, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Cineha.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Cineha.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:30, 6 September 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 14:30, 6 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ardwick Athletic F.C kit edit

adminhelp need help with kits

I'm not sure how you expect an admin to be able to help you with that. --Closedmouth (talk) 14:27, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

REPLY: I Know what they should look like but i cant get them to work User:Pabmeista|Pabsko-One 10:37, 5 September 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pabmeista (talkcontribs)

I have moved this from Talk:Ardwick Athletic F.C.

When you leave messages, please remember to "sign" your name, by putting ~~~~ (four tilde signs) at the end. This will add your name, and the date and time. You can also do this by clicking the 'sign' button, pictured here.

 • Please do not use adminhelp unless you actually require an administrator; in this case, a normal helpme would be fine.

The relevant portion of the code is this;

| kit_alt1 = Red jersey with white sleeves, white shorts, white socks
| pattern_la1= |pattern_b1= |pattern_ra1=
| leftarm1=FFFFFF |body1=DD0000 |rightarm1=FFFFFF |shorts1=FFFFFF |socks1=FFFFFF

The colours are specified using HTML colour-codes, which are in hexadecimal; there are lots of colour-charts on the internet, for example, here.

I hope this helps; if you need more help, please ask again, but please be as specific as possible about your requirements.  Chzz  ►  12:41, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Moving pages without discussion edit

I've explained before why articles are named the way they are, and why they shouldn't be moved without discussing it first. I see this is the second time you've moved Real Madrid Castilla from its proper name. Please stop doing it. Struway2 (talk) 23:43, 26 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

File:Belgium Netherlands 20182022bid.gif edit

Pabmeista, I don't understand why you reverted File:Belgium Netherlands 20182022bid.gif to a smaller, older version. I believe the newer one was still small enough for fair use and all. It's just that on the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup bids article, it becomes noticeably smaller than the other logos, since they're all presented together. Just curious.-- Patrick {oѺ} 01:51, 27 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

a user requested to make it smaller to comply with the copyright rules of belgium, because thats were it was designed

Well, that would surprise me about Beglian law, and I don't see where that request occurred. Moving on, I don't think the version of the Indonesian bid logo you created is legitimate. It appears to take the text of the logo we got from FIFA and use it in this other logo, for which I can't find a source. The one from the FIFA video seems to look like all the other bid logos, with the national federation logo and the bid design side-by-side, so I suspect that is legitimate. The only one were missing in good quality is the South Korean logo, so if you do see on of those please point it out.-- Patrick {oѺ} 19:30, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Paul Louis Paterson edit

A tag has been placed on Paul Louis Paterson, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Proposed deletion of London City F.C edit

The article London City F.C has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No such club in league mentioned. Either a blatant hoax/test page, or a non-notable Sunday League team with ideas above its station.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing dated prod will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Struway2 (talk) 09:42, 15 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nominations for deletion edit

The London City article is up for deletion because the information in it is blatantly false, there is no such team in Conference South as I'm sure you're aware. The Ardwick one is up for deletion because Man City were never known as Ardwick Athletic, they were known as Ardwick, but that is already covered in the main club article and the history of the club article, a separate standalone article is not needed. Plus the content was copied and pasted from our article on Hyde Road, which is not permitted -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:39, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

  Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit that you made to the page Hyde Road has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Orphaned non-free image File:Londoncity.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:Londoncity.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:58, 19 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
