Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen, "Ovariancancerresearchfund", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website which relates to the entity in question, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or accounts that are shared. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our Conflict of interest guideline and Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. January (talk) 12:11, 14 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you - did not realize this was an issue. I've filled out a request for username change. Thanks! Ovariancancerresearchfund (talk) 18:04, 17 December 2013 (UTC)OvariancancerresearchfundReply

Orphaned non-free image File:Ocrflogowiki.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Ocrflogowiki.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. SuperMarioMan 20:21, 15 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks very much for this information. I attempted to follow the rules for uploading images but it looks like I was confused. Can you please tell me the preferred way to upload an image that is copyrighted? Or alternately would it be better to upload an images that is not copyrighted at all? Thanks! Conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Lindseyreneew. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. 69.181.253.230 (talk) 04:54, 20 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Lindseyreneew/sandbox

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Lindseyreneew/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Stormmeteo Message 22:16, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for this - the tag is appreciated, as I would like for the eventual published article to be as clean and neutral as possible, and it appears that I may have some more editing to do. I intended to contest the speedy deletion via the button referenced above, but no longer see it on the page. I'm unsure if this means that the draft article is no longer being considered for speedy deletion, or if it has been deemed acceptable. Either way, there is still more editing to be done to make the article more concise and a revision is in the works. Thank you, --Lindseyreneew (talk) 21:02, 31 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Article submission

edit

Hi, Upon receiving feedback that the original article submitted on 1/3/14 read like an advertisement and was lacking neutral tone, I made major edits to remove what I believe could have been construed as unnecessary detail and promotional language before resubmitting on 2/10/14. I'm very happy to make further edits even if it means greatly reducing the amount of information presented, as I completely understand the need for all articles to remain objective. I would very much appreciate any specific feedback about any issues with the article (sourcing, length, finance-based details, etc.) because ultimately I think the community would be better served to have a much shorter article than no article at all. Prior to submitting the article in question myself, I was surprised to learn that one did not already exist, as its topic focuses on a well-known organization with great significance in the field of cancer research, and has an additional cultural significance as it is closely tied with breast cancer. Any feedback will be taken very seriously. Thank you, Lindseyreneew (talk) 22:34, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I am requesting to be unblocked. The original reason for the block has already been addressed and I am, to my knowledge, completely in compliance with Wikipedia's guidelines for posting. I initially was blocked because it was clear that I am closely affiliated with the organization for which I created an article. I disclosed my affiliation, submitted the article, carefully edited to remove any details that could read as biased or promotional, and the article was accepted. I have not edited any articles since. I only need to edit the same article again because the details of the organization have changed - there was, most importantly, a merge with another organization, and a name change. I do not intend to create a biased article; I only need to update the information because there is no one else who appears able or willing to correct the currently extremely outdated information attached to the article. I would very much appreciate being unblocked. If there are additional steps I need to take, please let me know and I will be sure to comply. Thanks very much.

Decline reason:

This account was blocked under its original name of User:Ovariancancerresearchfund. However, since you never actually appealed the block on that account - the username was changed, but the other reasons for the block remain - it remains blocked. I will copy the original block message below to explain how you can appeal the block. Yunshui  07:46, 12 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Yunshui  07:47, 12 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
