Thanks, Fayenatic. It seems that these articles provide useful information on the local (Bulgarian) ranking, which isn't supported yet by OKBot. I will add this feature soon and the articles you suggested. Thank you!--OsamaK (talk) 08:10, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Does the bot automatically see infoboxes with Alexa ranks?

I recently added an "alexa=#" line to the infobox at the top right of Issuu.

  • "Issuu" issuu.com

If the bot doesn't find the Alexa lines in infoboxes automatically, then would it be possible? Maybe a Google search of Wikipedia would help:

That search currently pulls up 1550 results. Maybe a bot could use those search results to automatically add more entries to User:OsamaK/AlexaBot.js

I added search terms that remove user pages and talk pages. You can remove more stuff from the search results by adding more search terms. --Timeshifter (talk) 08:12, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, Timeshifter. I added the page you suggested. As for automatically finding infoboxes, there are two issues 1) it's difficult to extract URLs, and 2) it could violate WP:CITEVAR.--OsamaK (talk) 22:06, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
I don't think anybody would mind having a bot take over no matter what kind of citation is used. --Timeshifter (talk) 09:32, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

I merging here now all unfulfilled requests (former divided into many sections) with this requests. All pages were rechecked by me and falsepositives were removed (one listed under that request, the second was requested at the wrong page, a third (the /. thing) is a "feature request"):

(Sorry for all that I restructured their comments and removing signatures, but otherwise nobody will show any interest here). mabdul 11:45, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Remove

Please remove Slashdot from this list. The bot is updating the infobox only and not the actual text of the article, thereby inserting an unnecessary citation in the infobox while leaving the old alexa numbers and citation in the article itself, which is conflicting information. WTF? (talk) 20:27, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Because it was never designed to do this! mabdul 11:45, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Once again, please remove Slashdot from this list. If you cannot edit the script to update this correctly, it's best not to update the article at all. Thank you. WTF? (talk) 16:06, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

The script is not designed to do what you think it should be doing. — foxj 18:02, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

MY REQUEST IS TO PLEASE REMOVE SLASHDOT FROM YOUR MAINTENANCE LIST. HOW HARD IS THAT TO UNDERSTAND. IF YOU CAN'T PROGRAM THE SCRIPT TO DO IT CORRECTLY, THEN DON'T DO IT AT ALL. WTF? (talk) 14:39, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Except it is supposed to be in there. Just because it doesn't happen to update a completely separate part of the article doesn't mean it needs to be taken off this list. — foxj 16:14, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
I find it odd and rather wrong that users can request that pages be added to the bot's list, but if someone requests a page be removed, they have to go through hell and high water to do so. What's the big deal with removing the article from the bot's list of articles? WTF? (talk) 18:01, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
Because there is zero need to do so. — foxj 18:38, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
Removed the text which had Alexa rankings. THE END. And Foxj please add the the two new requests of mine. extra999 (talk) 19:09, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Request For Addition to Alexa Auto Update

I did some extensive cleanup on the article GoFundMe and was wondering if it could be added to the list of articles that are updated monthly with Alexa ratings. Please let me know if there is anything that I need to do in order to get included (also if there is something I need to do to update the code in the infobox). Thanks in advance.

Added. — foxj 19:26, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

I have an idea. We can check which article is on this list and match it with this page, add those which aren't on this page. extra999 (talk) 08:46, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
That's not a bad idea, it would simply take an ungodly amount of time ;) — foxj 08:52, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, there are literally thousands of them to do. Not all websites need to be listed here, however, only ones high on the Alexa scale. — foxj 08:55, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
