Ra, Isis, and Bastet edit

Hello, Obeyel. I saw your edits to Isis and Ra and wanted to ask if you know of any reliable sources for the claim that Isis and Ra were considered Bastet's parents. Ra was often said to be Bastet's father, of course, but I've researched Isis extensively and don't recall seeing any sign that Isis was Bastet's mother. Wikipedia is supposed to be based on what reliable sources say, so if there isn't a source for the claim, it can't be included in our articles. A. Parrot (talk) 05:54, 14 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello yes Bastet is said to be the daughter of Isis in many sources. Just google "bastet daughter of isis" and here is a links to a website https://www.pinterest.com/pin/476677941789655116/ https://inanna.virtualave.net/bastet.html And by the way, what sources do you have that Isis is the mother of the four sons of horus? I have ne ver heard that before, and thats some gross mother son incest dude...

It even says on the Bastet page that Isis was believed by some in ancient times to by the mother of Bastet. This is a quote from the Bastet page which I did not write "Thus, to fit their own mythology, Bastet was thought of as the sister of Horus, whom they identified as Apollo (Artemis' brother), and consequently, the daughter of the later emerging deities, Isis and Ra"

Sorry I didn't see your reply for a few days. First, Wikipedia is not a reliable source for itself, because its articles are of such variable quality and can change at any time. That particular passage of the Bastet article isn't sourced; although I cut out some unsourced and dubious claims from that article in December, I missed that one.
There are very few websites that are reliable sources on ancient Egypt, and the ones you cite aren't among them. Looking through Google Books, I don't see any Egyptological works that mention Bastet as Isis' daughter, nor do I see references to specific Egyptian texts in the works that do claim Bastet was Isis' daughter. The Egyptological sources do say Bastet was equated with Isis in the late first millennium BC, and the linkage of Artemis with Bastet and Bastet with Isis was one of the reasons for Isis' equation with Artemis. I left that fact out of the Isis article when rewriting it, considering that nearly every Egyptian goddess was linked with Isis in some way during that period, but because it's significant to the Artemis connection, I suppose I should add it.
As for the Four Sons of Horus, it's cited in the body of the article, in Isis#Mother goddess. The source is Egyptian Mythology by Geraldine Pinch, which refers to a particular passage of the Coffin Texts that states the relationship. Apparently that passage regards Horus the Elder—a different form of Horus who is the brother and not the son of Isis—as the father of the four sons. When you're dealing with Egyptian mythology, you'll have to grow accustomed to relationships with creepy implications. The Egyptian gods were forces of nature more than they were like fictional characters in modern stories, so relationships that seem bizarre at first glance often have a deeper meaning. The relationship between Ra and the Eye of Ra is a prime example. In other cases, deities seem to have been plugged in at random to fit a missing slot in another deity's family tree, as seems to be the case with Anubis, who had at least four fathers and four mothers in different sources. It's all very complicated, and when we on Wikipedia write about these relationships, we have to use sources carefully so as not to introduce further confusion. A. Obeyel, further to your Isis additions, and my reversion of the same, I should apologise for my incorrect linking; I meant the author Gerald Massey; he was a largely self-trained enthusiast, and none of his works qualifies as a reliable, scholarly source. He had no formal training in history, and his work contains abundant errors. Haploidavey (talk) 14:57, 4 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Kifi (god) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

Speedy deletion nomination of Ian Ravi Landeck (Kalki Avatar) edit

Hello Obeyel,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ian Ravi Landeck (Kalki Avatar) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Blocked edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Ian.thomson (talk) 21:32, 14 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Almost all of of your activity has been to promote yourself as Kalki. While you are welcome to believe you are whatever deity you so wish, promoting yourself for any reason is not welcome. Between that and using this account to evade a block made on your IP (made because you were making personal attacks and looking ready to edit war), WP:NOTHERE seems to apply. Ian.thomson (talk) 21:32, 14 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
And I see that you decided to lie when posting a reference. Ian Ravi Landeck is not mentioned anywhere in the Oxford Handbook of Global Religions. Ian.thomson (talk) 21:36, 14 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
