Thanks for your contributions to subarachnoid hemorrhage. In the future, could you try to provide references in the way that the remainder of the article is using? When I recently worked on the SAH article I used footnotes, and tried to format all the references with the {{cite journal}} template (see the remainder of the article for examples).

If you know the PMID code (PubMed identifier), this online applet will convert it into a fully formatted reference.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage

I have temporarily removed your changes to subarachnoid hemorrhage. Firstly, the article is a featured article, and therefore major changes should ideally be discussed before being implemented. Secondly, I have problems with the style - this article is written for laypeople and they couldn't possibly care less which centre has more experience with coiling etc etc nor the names of the researchers who have performed the studies.

I would suggest that you leave a message on Talk:Subarachnoid hemorrhage stating your intentions and perspectives. Also, could I again encourage you to use the {{cite journal}} template as I explained above? JFW | T@lk 07:43, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. I agree that the article should faithfully reflect the state of knowledge on the condition, so that not just patients but the entire public can learn about the condition.

The problem with your contributions was:

• It was written in rather technical language, making it a bit inaccessible.
• It seemed to offer original interpretation of the data.
• It relied on primary sources, rather than secondary sources.

With regards to the sources, I would recommend having a look at WP:MEDRS, the guideline on sourcing medical articles. It is usually preferable to source medical article content to recent reviews or textbook chapters. If it seems to lag slightly behind the very latest research - so be it. Because often the latest research takes some time to be placed into context. I hope this is helpful. The SAH article was great fun to write and the experience has been very useful for my practice.
