New York, New York

Null, my thinking is that people from Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island receive mail addressed to those cities, not New York, New York. While I won't actively dispute your reversion, I do think that Bronx, New York would be acceptable and more accurate. New York, New York has always meant Manhattan to me. To most users, "New York, New York" is clear enough. Also, to maintain consistencies between all WS/LCS/LDS articles, a "(city name), (state name)" format is preferred. Since the Cubs-Dodgers series was completed in three games, MLB said that if a fifth game in the Phillies-Brewers series is necessary on October 7th, the start time was changed to 8:37 PM from its' original 6:07 PM. Note on Bottom of Ninth Not Needed

For what it's worth 2004 ALCS

Here is the game summary from Dan Shaughnessy: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2004/10/19/two_wins_in_hand_two_to_go/ . I have a hard time remembering the start and end time, it is still hard to fathom what Ortiz did during those 23 hours. Brackets on 2009 World Baseball Classic

This has been discussed on Talk:2009 World Baseball Classic#Brackets and common sense dictates that the team on the upper part of the bracket goes to the upper half, and the lower team on the lower half, basically allowing the lines trace where they came from. It's like the 2007 postseason where the bracket leading to the LCS shows Boston rightfully on top since it is on the upper half of the bracket despite being at the bottom part of the box score for majority of the games. –Howard the Duck 18:32, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

MLB Playoff Summary template

Would you object if I edited the MLB Playoff Summary template so that the "Date" field appears after the "Game" field? It just seems more logical to place it there as opposed to in the middle of the table, and that is generally the order in which such charts in other sources appear (Game, Date, Score, Location, etc.).-PassionoftheDamon (talk) 20:08, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

I noticed you've had a fair amount of contact with the above article, so I wanted to ask someone before wasting my time. A local bar that I frequent has a framed original 1903 World Series poster hanging on its wall. If I could get a good quality picture of it, would it be worth including in that article? Minor edit on 1989 world series

NullSpace, I noticed that you changed the link to Jose Canseco's page, adding the accent. I'm not sure what the standard practice is with regards to baseball players, but I know that for hockey players we try to write the link as it appears at the top of the page which the link directs you to. I'd also point out that when you search josé canseco, you get redirected to jose canseco. What confuses me is that in the article, canseco is introduced using the accent. I didn't find any Wikipedia guideline, either. Based on my observation, those born outside USA has accents while those who born as an American does not. I guess the one who created the original Canseco page thought since Canseco born in Cuba, the page should be named with accents and through the article. No, unfortunately, you can't edit the edit summaries, not even your own. Many's the time I made some kind of error in the edit summary and only observed it after it was "set in concrete". If you've got a ballpark concern about the 1932 Series, that article would be a good place to raise it. One thing worth pointing out is that sources for intra-city World Series will typically list the ballparks, since "at New York" is insufficient; and then the home team can be determined by who batted last. ←Baseball Bugs ^{What's up, Doc?} carrots→ 13:23, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

I accidentally copy/pasted some stuff and got a little twisted up in the edit window dealing with the cites. I thought I had it good to go, but it was still screwed up. Sorry about that. You beat me to the fix. I started out just fixing the consecutive hit innings fact and found a bunch of other stuff to improve in the game summary. What I added about the 1969 World Series was true. That World Series was the first one since 1954 to involve a team from New York other than the Yankees, not 1956. The matchup for the that World Series was between the Cleveland Indians and the New York Giants, get your facts right.

Frank White and Game Six of the 1985 World Series

You wanted a citation[2] for his being CS when he was really safe at 2nd base. I found one and put it in the article[en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=1985_World_Series&diff=next&=498907038] also slightly re-writing that section of the article. The source- Bill James 1986 Baseball Abstract. James wrote- "White then bunted for a single, but was called out at second base trying to steal. The call at second was questionable,". That was all James said on the play but he is a RS. Bleacher Report is the only other source I can find for it and BR isn't a good source. 1985 news articles available via Google news archive search make no mention of the play. Youtube has zilch. BR has nothing. They even[3] have Steve Balboni playing 1st base for the Cardinals. BR reads "In the bottom of the 4th inning, second baseman Frank White got a one-out single. White then attempted to steal second base, and was called out when replays showed he was clearly safe. Rightfielder Pat Sheridan then singled which possibly costed the Royals a run after Cox pitched his way out of the inning." When replays showed....thats where the "Replays showed bit I edited is probably coming from. James is a better source than BR....William 10:17, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

1956 World Series

I noted that you reverted one of my edits that replaced "{{!-}}" with "|-". Just letting you know that the template is generally supposed to be for templates with conditions (e.g. rows that appear only if a condition in "#if:" is met), not general articles that certainly cannot be transcluded into another. "It supposed to be" does not mean "It cannot be used". I reverted your edit because it changed (broke) the appearance of the article. The attendance and the players' share information were gone. At least you should use {{!}}- instead of |-. Of course, since Frietjes has modified the "linescore" template and related articles. 1988 World Series, Game 1

The entire Game 1 is posted on YouTube. If you watch, you will see Belcher hit Canseco on the right bicep and Doug Harvey did not call a foul tip strike, but awarded Canseco first base. Lasorda was the one who disputed that the ball hit his bat because of the sound and because the ball rolled all the way to the back fence in foul territory. Usually, if someone is hit with a pitch, it doesn't cause a ball to roll so far. Replays showed the ball hit Canseco in his bicep.

The McGwire quote can probably be removed; I remember reading it in either Inside Sports or Sport Magazine, but I can't quite pin it down.
