Notability of Rick Moffat

edit

A tag has been placed on Rick Moffat requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 19:38, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Office of Consumer Affairs (Canada)

edit

A tag has been placed on Office of Consumer Affairs (Canada), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 17:06, 5 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Stile Project

edit

I dunno if Category:Canadian websites is an applicable category for this article. The webmaster himself is Canadian, but the site's IP address links to a host named Your.Org that has addresses in Chicago, Singapore, and Paris, and it points to a server farm in the Netherlands. The address on the site's WHOIS says it's in Cyprus. 70.22.154.184 (talk) 22:34, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:RueMorgue 62.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Hockey Hall of Fame

edit

I note that you added a cleanup tag here; it has since been removed. This is a featured article, and a cleanup tag right at the top of the page is quite exceptional, particularly as you do not seem to have mentioned on the talk page of the article what your concerns are. Please do so; your concerns cannot be addressed unless you identify them. Thanks. Risker (talk) 22:59, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Risker beat me to it. I removed your tag, something I don't like doing, but a generic clean up tag doesn't help us much in identifying specifics, so please post your concerns on the talk page and I'll address them as best as I can. -- Scorpion0422 23:03, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Seven Pounds

edit

Hello, I removed the {{update section}} template from Seven Pounds because there was not really any new information about the film's production. A drama film like this tends to be pretty straightforward in shooting and editing, so any useful information will probably be related to writing. That kind of information will probably surface in the next month or so. In the meantime, I added a "Release" section with some detail about a five-city tour with charity screenings of the film. —Erik (talkcontrib) 22:43, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Dominion-Provincial_Conference.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Dominion-Provincial_Conference.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:54, 2 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fred Dickson

edit

You're misunderstanding what happened. The title "Fred Dickson" was referring to a different person altogether, who ran as an NDP candidate in one provincial election in Ontario in 1977, and was in place as a redirect to a "New Democratic Party candidates in X election" page — with the result that the new senator was consequently being disambiguated. My point wasn't that the senator isn't notable enough for an article; it was that the senator is significantly more notable than the other guy. I deleted the redirect so that the senator could have the primary title. Bearcat (talk) 06:46, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you

edit

The article you created: Dense (film) may be deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:

The faster you respond, the better chance the article you created can be saved.

Finding sources which mention the topic of your article is the very best way to avoid an article being deleted {{Findsources3}}:

Find sources for Dense (film): google news recent, google news old, google books, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.

Also, there are several tools and helpful editors on Wikipedia who can help you:

  1. List the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
  2. You can request a mentor to help explain all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
  3. When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept.
  4. You can vote to merge the article into a larger or better established article on the same topic.

If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 01:09, 13 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Paula Shaw

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Paula Shaw, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Unremarkable minor actor (see WP:NOTABILITY)

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion nomination of Chris Murphy (Canadian broadcaster)

A tag has been placed on Chris Murphy (Canadian broadcaster) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia.
