VANDALISM?

I would have thought that there would be an 'intuitive', i.e. simple way of communicating to someone who was threatening one with retribution.

I have never attempted an edit of a Wikipedia page before today and I am straightforwardly offended that you should accuse me of vandalism, particularly in relation to Kieron Dyer, whose home I used to look at from my Season Ticket seat (before a new stand was erected.) Dyer was, in my 40 years of attendance at Portman Road, the best young player we have had and I am disappointed that he has turned into a scumbag. I made three changes to his entry: to talk of him being 'Antiguan' in descent is wrong, plain wrong, so accusing me of vandalism in relation to that fact is actionable, i.e. I could sue you! His mother is very very blonde and Ipswichy; how does that constitute Antiguan? I suggested, as part of the same point, that he was 'morphing into Maradona': look at their pictures, as it's true. Both are bums: does anyone dispute that? The Dyer entry as constituted confirms pretty fully that Dyer has become a bum. I added the detail of his sister escaping prison for 'possessing heroin with intent to supply': that's merely an update of the truth. Why didn't she go to prison? What have you got to do to go to prison...heroin...supply? She admitted having her knickers stuffed with heroin.

And another thing! Dyer 'famously' crashed his Ferrari; in Ipswich, his father is famous for crashing his son's NUFC Rover. Where do the lines of fame merge into mere facts? Why would you not wish to add the info about his dad ALSO being a car crasher? And the hilarity of NUFC issuing all their players with 'club Rovers'?

I perfectly well understand the idea of citation but where does one draw the line? Kieron Dyer's mother is very blonde, Suffolk born and bred. I cite the 2001 census! How on earth does one quote a source for that? I gave the date of Dyer's sister's conviction for possessing heroin with intent to supply. I gave no evidence about his father's car crash, yet you are allowed to use the adjective 'famous' in relation to Dyer's accident. I repeat, Dyer's father accident is 'famous' in Ipswich. I'll look up some sources for your totally wrong 'Antiguan' fact, Dyer's mother's antecedents, and his dad's crash. Then it will be time to start apologising, Nooooiey.

We are urged to 'be bold' in our postings. How does one reconcile that with your wet, pompous accusation of 'vandalism'?

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
