Hello, Newchaz64, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions so far. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

If you need help, post a question at the Help Desk or ask me on my talk page.

It is always wise to read the talk page of an existing article before making major changes on it, to see if your idea has already been discussed. Even then, it is often helpful to suggest a major change before making it, to see if anyone objects or wants to discuss it. Please do not delete materials on other people's talk pages or on the talk pages of articles.

When you contribute to a talk page, please sign your name using four tildes: ~ ~ ~ ~ but without the spaces.

Your edit to Johnny Appleweed edit

Message posted on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 edit

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Johnny Appleweed. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.Appleweed.com in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Johnny Appleweed with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Johnny Appleweed with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Johnny Appleweed saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

The Nervous Set edit

The Nervous Set is very far from an encyclopedic article. IN particular is is not written from a neutral point of view - it has an opinion, and wikipedia articles should not have opinions. It's also badly organised and overlong. Simply dumping great screeds of other people's text does not an article make. And if you have got permission to use this text, you urgently need to follow the instructions above, about mailing "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org" or the whole article will likely be deleted as a copyright violation.

Please spend some time getting your head around what an encyclopedia article is, and try to get this one to a more reasonable standard. --Tagishsimon (talk) 00:24, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of The Nervous Set edit

I have nominated The Nervous Set, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Nervous Set. Wikipedia:Conflict of interest edit

Could I draw your attention to Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. You clearly[1] have a conflict of interest in all of the work you have to date done on wikipedia. I should be grateful if you would now abide by wikipedia's guidelines on conflict of interest and, in particular, refrain from editing articles for which a conflict of interest arises. --Tagishsimon (talk) 20:53, 22 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I note that you added the article some 5 days after I advised you of COI policy. That's a very arrogant & misguided action on your part. --Tagishsimon (talk) 01:50, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Continued COI edit

Scott, why do you consider that WP:COI does not apply to you? have the common courtesy to abide by our guidelines, please. --Tagishsimon (talk) 22:00, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

The article comes entireloy from objective third-party sources, all noted. Newchaz64 (talk) 16:55, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
You are so missing the point that I'm amazed you can cross the road without being knocked down. Go and read my most recent comments on talk:New Line Theatre. If you cannot understand that cherrypicking favourable comment does not a balanced article make, then there really is no future for you on wikipedia. This is elementary stuff; it is surely well within your capacity to read WP:COI, understand it, and abide by it. So tell me again, Scott: why do you think that WP:COI does not apply to you? --Tagishsimon (talk) 16:59, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mr. Miller, or whoever you are, I would love for there to be articles in Wikipedia about these musicals, but you cannot just cut and paste from your website. A wikipedia article about a musical should be written and organized following the Wikipedia Manual of Style: See WP:MOS and following the WP:MUSICALS guidelines: Wikipedia:WikiProject Musical Theatre/Article Structure. In brief, there should be a short introduction stating who the author and composer are and giving a sentence or two about the story and major productions. Then there should be a background section explaining the genesis of the musical and its history prior to its major productions. Then a plot summary. Then a more detailed description of the major productions, including information about directors, choreographers and notable performers. Then critical reception and analysis sections. Then a list of awards. All of this, except the plot summary, should be supported with references to published secondary sources, not just the playwright's own website. See Hair (musical) for an example. I hope you decide to rewrite the article into an acceptable encyclopedia article. Best regards, -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:40, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification edit

Hi. When you recently edited Cry-Baby (musical), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hairspray (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I uploaded this image of the show poster because the article had only the CD cover, but someone has undone my change, not sure why -- and that's why the image is currently being unused... Newchaz64 (talk) 21:02, 10 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Sunday in the Park original poster art.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Sunday in the Park original poster art.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. WP:CRYSTAL edit

Please see WP:CRYSTAL. Readings of new shows and adaptations are rarely of encyclopedic interest. Generally, you should wait until the show is produced in a fully-staged production by a professional theatre company before writing about it. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:06, 16 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

I am baffled by this -- a professional theatre company has announced both a reading AND a fully staged production of this new adaptation of Pirates of Penzance -- announced in local AND national press -- but this can't be listed in the Adaptations section of the Pirates of Penzance wiki page...??? First I was told by an editor that it needed an "independent source," so I provided that. Now I'm told only fully staged productions by professional theatre companies are able to be listed, but this will be a fully staged production by a professional theatre company. I don't see the problem. Can you help me with this? -- Newchaz64 (talk) 21:04, 16 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
