Geocoding edit

Hi there. As the admin who closed the deletion discussion on Geocoding, I was referred to you with regards to this discussion. I'm willing to restore the page to your userspace for you to work on and improve it, addressing the issues that caused the page to be deleted so that it might be able to be restored to articlespace, provided that there is a reasonable chance that notability can be established for the term? (Note that patent and trademark grantings, SMPTE, WIPO and USPTO data does not necessarily establish notability - mentions in secondary, reliable sources that are independent of the subject and discuss the subject in detail are needed). - The Bushranger One ping only 16:30, 24 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Bushranger,

I cannot be a Wikipedia editor according to Wikipedia policies because I’m considered an editor with COI. I would therefore not be inclined to edit any information regarding the article on Geocode.

My main reason for contacting John and you was to provide you the references that were missing from the article. This was the primary and only reasons cited by the two individuals in the deletion discussion regarding this article. It was deleted due to lack of citations to the intellectual property cited in the article and therefore redirected to the Geocoding article.

I provided in my discussion to John, and is listed below, the requisite online references to overcome the issues identified in the deletion discussion. I am hoping, based on these new references, the verification requested in the deletion discussion has been provided to overcome the objections noted and therefore reinstate the Geocode article and discontinue linking it to the Geocoding page.

If the references provided are not sufficient to overcome the state objections in the deletion discussion, could an editor who does not have COI please add a reference to the Geocoding page under the “List of Geocoding system” because our patented Geocode process is a different geocoding system for representing location.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

User name edit

If you wish to change your username to "New Media", you can do that by applying at WP:CHU - read down to the bottom of that page and click on "Simple." But until you do that, it is confusing to file your mediation request in the name of a non-existent account.

Having a COI does not prohibit you from editing, especially if it is declared - see WP:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest for advice. JohnCD (talk) 14:14, 30 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Request for mediation rejected edit

The request for formal mediation concerning Geocode, to which you were listed as a party, has been declined. To read an explanation by the Mediation Committee for the rejection of this request, see the mediation request page, which will be deleted by an administrator after a reasonable time. Please direct questions relating to this request to the Chairman of the Committee, or to the mailing list. For more information on forms of dispute resolution, other than formal mediation, that are available, see Wikipedia:Dispute resolution.

Also, if you don't mind, could you please shorten your most recent post to that thread? It's kinda really long, and the Teahouse, one way or another, can't help you directly, so there's no real reason for all of it to be there. You don't have to if you don't want to, but I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Writ Keeper 13:12, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   or   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 14:51, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom edit

Hello. I have removed your case from the ArbCom page as ArbCom does not rule on notability or content issues. Wikipedia:Arbitration clearly states that "(ArbCom) ... will not make editorial statements or decisions about how articles should read ("content decisions"), so users should not ask the Committee to make these kinds of decisions. It will not do so.". I would suggest deletion review as your next step. Thanks, Black Kite (talk) 14:46, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Geocode article edit

Hi! Just for your information - Arbcom will decline to take the case you have entered because it relates to a content dispute. However I took a look at the matter. The article was deleted because it failed to meet notability guidelines (see WP:GNG). These guidelines require an independent reliably published source (i.e. academic, news, magazine article or a book, etc.). You can find out more about reliable sources here: WP:RS. Until notability can be shown then the article will not be restored; the onus is on you to demonstrate notability at this point. --Errant (chat!) 15:14, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Please stop restoring the case to the ArbCom page. The case will not be accepted and you are wasting your time and that of editors you are notifying. Such editing may be determined to be disruptive. Black Kite (talk) 15:17, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • Please, New Media, just...just drop it. Starting an ArbCom case request about Black Kite (rightly) removing your other ArbCom case request will get you nowhere but blocked indefinitely for disruption. That's not a threat at all (I'm not an admin, so I couldn't do it even if I wanted to); it's the natural conclusion of wasting everyone time tilting at windmills and trying to start pointless ArbCom cases. This has gotten way out of hand. Please. Just stop. Writ Keeper 15:42, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

August 2012 edit

You have been blocked from editing for a period of Indefinite for persistent disruptive editing. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Errant (chat!) 15:59, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
See? I didn't want it to come to this, but you didn't really leave anyone a choice. Writ Keeper 16:01, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Same here.. but this seems the only way :( --Errant (chat!) 16:02, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict)I've suspended your editing privileges for the time being; you need to engage on this talk page. Multiple editors have explained what you need to address to get the article undeleted and that your (two) filed Arbcom request is *not* going to be accepted. You've made no attempt to engage over any of these issues and you need to do so before being unblocked. --Errant (chat!) 16:02, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

you seem to be having a few issues with this process. Open this page to edit, add your reason in the template below where it says "Your reason here" (you will see that when you open to edit), remove the X from before the "unblock" and then save. -- The Red Pen of Doom 16:37, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
