July 2018 edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at Wikipedia:Teahouse, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

January 2020 edit

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Pakistani hip hop music, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Dl2000 (talk) 03:16, 22 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

I would recommend you to not edit my changes as you have been doing, because your changes are inappropriate as you are overrating a rapper above the more popular ones. If you wish, you can edit and site the sources for me to make the page better. But don't edit the contents and make the article inauthentic.

Thank you. Nayabks (talk) 03:54, 22 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Editing matters edit

  • I see that you have already been told about the need for reliable sources for content you add to articles. Perhaps even more importantly, you should not remove sources for information which is already in an article, unless there are very good reasons why the sources are unsuitable, in which case you need to explain why.
  • If contrent of an article is removed because of a lack of sourcing, Wikipedia policy is that it must not be restored without providing a reliable source.
  • Again, please don't remove maintenance tempaltes without dealing with the issues they refer to.
  • It is probably better if you don't try to correcdt English. You have replaced a perfectly correct use of the possessive "its" with a mistaken use of "it's", which is not a possessive, but an abbreviation of "it is".
  • All content of Wikipedia articles needs to be written from a neutral point of view, and there should be no expression of opinions or judgements. An article should not say that someone is "of the finest caliber", that their work is "positive", that they have "lyrical talent", that something is "irrelevant", and so on and so on.
  • At Pakistani hip hop music you have three times made substantially the same edit, in the face of your changes having been reverted. Wikipeida works by collaboration, and when editors disagree about contnt they should discuss the issues involved, with a view to trying to freach agreeement, not simply keep reverting to their preferred version, presumably in the hope that eventually other editors will give up. If we adopted that method to resolve disagreements, the result would simply be that the most stubborn editors would always eventually get their way, which would not be beneficial. This kind of repeated restoration of one's own preferred version of an article, known as "edit-warring", is considered disruptive, and if it continues an administrator may block teh editors involved from editing, to prevent further disruption. If you wish to read furtehr detail on this, please see the Wikipedia policy on edit-warring.
  • At Pakistani hip hop music you replaced a list of subgenres with a link to the article Genre. Was that a mistake? I can't see any conceivable reason why anyone would do that deliberately. Assuming it was a mistake, you should reverse your change. JBW (talk) 11:06, 22 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi JBW,

  • I have only been replacing the inauthentic facts with the authentic ones. Because I am aware that an editor here has an interest (that I can prove). Can you please point out which facts require sourcing? I will do my best to cite the best sources available.
  • Can you point out the maintenance template I have removed? I will resolve the issue it was about if I haven't.
  • It must be a typo, my bad. I'll be more careful about this one.
  • Noted, I was only stating the public opinion. Is that allowed or do we have to be 100% objective?
  • I have been edit-warring in reaction because there is a group of Pakistani rappers that is constantly changing this page in its interest, they are not known but are constantly putting their names at the top of the mentioned lists. Honestly, I am all for collaborations but in such situations, there is really no other choice but to enforce the just edits. I had sought an administrator's attention for this matter but it was not responded to. So this was my last resort.
  • I don't get this point about the genre/sub-genre and can't find the edit in the article. If it is inappropriate can you please edit that for me, I will be grateful.
