slightly disturbing... edit

Jó napot kivánok, NCurse,

I was just wandering around the wiki and came across this: [1] which I must admit I find rather disturbing. It's easy to see that as almost a veiled threat; i.e. "slant the article to the interpretation I want, or some Hungarians are going to get hurt." I don't believe that P. is saying that he himself will hurt anyone, but I still find it troubling, especially the more I learn about recent events in Vojvodina. Is this something we should be concerned about, or am I just over-reacting again? K. Lásztocska 17:19, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Köszönöm. (Sajnos én nagyon rosszul beszelék magyarul, és nehéz megérteni nekem!) I think I understand--you think it isn't really a big problem, but we should take notice if the situation changes for the worse? K. Lásztocska 23:14, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

No big problem, "Pusztalakó." :) (I've just noticed that's Alensha's nickname for you, it's pretty funny! Is there a similar word for someone from Miskolc?!) It gave me a chance to practice my translating! :) K. Lásztocska 15:45, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

WP:ADOPT edit

Hi there,

As a current Adopter with the Adopt-a-User program there has been some ongoing developments that we would like to bring to your attention.

A new Adopter's Area has been created where you can find useful resources and other Adopter's experiences. Please feel free to add any resources you may have found useful as an Adopter, as well as recount any experiences that you think may help others. If you know of any useful resources for new users / Adoptees then you can add them here.

Also the way the adoption process works has changed slightly. To decrease workload at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user, on offering adoption please change the {{Adoptme}} template to {{Adoptoffer}} on the user's user page, and this will add the user to Category:Wikipedians having been offered adoption. Users that have already been offered adoption can always have a second or third offer, but by separating out those users that have not had an adoption offer yet, it is hoped that no one will go lacking.

Furthermore numerous Adopters have been adding their details to a list of users available for adopting, to offer a more personalised service and allow new users to browse through and pick their own Adopter. The quickest way to adopt though, is still to contact users at the Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user.

Finally - thanks for all your hard work, keep it up - and if you have any general questions or suggestions about the further development of Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User please bring them to our talk page. Cheers Lethaniol 13:57, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Work edit

Great! Hope the exams went well. I'm on service this week, but I'll find time to work on things. Why don't you start with a relevant lit search? -- Samir धर्म 00:30, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi NCurse, I ran a quick lit search today, and there's not much at all (6 papers, none of which is relevant). This is a good sign -- Samir धर्म 20:27, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Whacking Promopeddler article edit

I noticed you CSD A7'd the article... was being on Inc.'s Top 500 not an assertion of notability (is Inc. Magazine just a stateside thing)? That's WP:CORP 2, plus I had included one WP:CORP 1 reference, with a talk page note on digging through the rest (WP:CORP allows any one criteria, but WP:CORP 1 requires multiple sources). Anyways, I'll look deeper into putting up a better article with more external sources in the next week or so, and (as the others have said), good luck on the exams! Could you please check something? edit

Hello NCurse, I hope you came through your exams with all your neurons intact. Let us know when its now "Dr. NCurse". Could I ask a favour - to check my account? I seem to have lost the ability to make reverts. Could you tell me if there is something wrong? Ive not broken 3RR, or any other policy (that I know of) and except for one contentious exchange (Vajdaság), things have been relatively peaceful. Sorry for the bother - I just want to make sure nothing stealthily untoward is going on in adminland. István 20:21, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Release version work edit

Hi, how did the exams go? Thanks for getting in touch - are you able to work on Version 0.7 now? There are lots of nominations to review, including loads of set nominations. I have been pretty tied up with Version 0.5 (now beta testing :)) and eyu100 has been very quiet too. Please try and help reduce the backlog! I'm working tonight on organising the 1.0 infrastructure - a lot of changes are happening and I'm hoping for/expecting an influx of new people once Version 0.5 comes out (later this month, I think). why delete the page chitrakot edit

could not understand why you deleted the page chitrakot? the photos were uploaded with such trouble on a slow server and was given copy left cant figure out how to do this sounds like a travelbook become a reason. then why did you not ask for the clean up of language? nothing in that page was taken from any site or so. if there is a way in which you can get it back please do it. the author and his friend used the took those photos and want them to be useful in wiki. this place is in one of the poorest regions in the world. called bastar in india. there are currently very few articles in wiki about the region, i was hoping to build upon from here. its so unfortunate that you decided to delete them

Author of the photograph has also given the photos in the following link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_of_Rice_Intensification

Szia NCurse,

What do you know about Hungarian copyright law? There's another storm brewing on Commons about our 1956 pictures, and specifically the Stalin-boots one (my favorite!). Super League Dream Team edit

This is an officially sanctioned award, that was fully sourced, catergorised and explained. Can you please run through the reasons for deleting documentation of sporting awards. Many thanks for your attention to the matter? Londo06 13:57, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Can you please reinstate this article. 194.75.128.200 17:00, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes it is specific to rugby league. It is not connected with associated football or linked to any other sport. There is evidence of the award on more websites beyond the BBC. As per previous offer by yourself, I can clean it up and source it more fully. Londo06 17:05, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Concerning your Admin Coaching assignments edit

Your name is still listed at Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Volunteers. The department is heavily backlogged with student's requests for coaches, and we need your help!

Note that the instructions may have changed since the last time you checked, and the department now follows a self-help process...

If you don't currently have a student, or if you believe you can handle another one, please select a student from the request list at Wikipedia:Admin coaching/Requests and contact them. See the instructions on Wikipedia:Admin coaching. Good luck.

If you are no longer available to coach, , please remove yourself from the volunteers list.

Thank you.

AITO - why deleted? edit

Hi, I was just wondering why the entry for the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) has been deleted. If you see Great Rail Journeys (one of their members - they mention they are a member of AITO) or "ABTA" - the Association of British Travel Agents which is a very similar body, they are all present on the site. Can you please explain why AITO is not able to be featured? thanks.

Your talk page edit

NCurse said: Thank you for that correction on my talk page! It's always great to feel that others watch your page to remove mistakes like that.

You're very welcome. I have a ton of links I look out for to revert, mostly from anonymous users, and sometimes they occur on user talk pages. Hopefully this doesn't happen very often where established members are concerned. Bobo. 20:02, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

NCurse said: Wow! A real soldier of Wikipedia. We can't appreciate enough editors like you. Keep it up!

It doesn't look to have happened since I last contacted you so I'm imagining that it shouldn't happen again. Normally the editors attack the user pages and are done with it but unfortunately you were stuck with the New messages bar instead. Not a problem. Bobo. 20:41, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Association of Independent Tour Operators edit

Hi, Many thanks for your time & message earlier regarding why the AITO article was deleted. I have spent some time working on it and have entered: AITO (The Association of Independent Tour Operators) is a trade organisation of over 150 independent and specialist Tour Operator companies. Each member of AITO must adhere to a strict code of conduct known as the Quality Charter. (Official Website)

{{Tourism-stub}} Category:Organisations based in England Category:Transport Associations

But this seems to be sent to deletion too. Please can you explain why? I am using the article on ABTA as an example and I can't see why the above can't be ok if the ABTA one is fine. I would be very grateful if you could have a look at the above and explain what I am doing wrong. Many thanks in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beckycraig10 (talkcontribs)
