Questions

Hi Mschel. Thanks for welcoming me! How do I get a user page like yours/ What is a user box? Is there a page with tags that I can use to tag articles? Thanks! Cooliocheck1 00:50, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey! Thanks for asking! I have answered your questions below.
  • Getting a cool userpage is hard, mine took a long time and it is not even very good. If you like I could help you make your userpage and model it after mine.
  • A userbox is a little box that goes on your userpage that should tell something about you.
  • I do not think there is a list of all article tags, as that would be a HUGE list. What kind of tags are you looking for? You can find lists of certain types of tags.

Yaiy!

Thanks for the welcome back. :D The situation's still pretty much the same, but I realised that I was spending time on WP anyways. I even started a new account on the Tamil language Wikipedia... Can you imagine?! Anyways, doing some NP patrolling... RC is boring these days cos vandalism is down. :( aJCfreak yAk 13:34, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

I wanted to ask you - why'd u change your sign? I liked the colourful thingy. Anyways, a quick question. I wanted to infect you with the love cabal but the heart icon clashes with the Viginia Tech ribbon that you've got. Any idea on a workaround for this? aJCfreak yAk 15:14, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
I changed my sig because I have NO artistic eye, and there seemed to be general consensus that it was dorky, so I took their word for it. I figured out a way to have them both there, but then decided that you can just remove it anyway. :) --Mschel 15:36, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

How do you...

How do you use Trace Bitmap in Inkscape???  Jonjonbt   22:29, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

In your menu go to "Path" --> "Trace Bitmap...". In the window that opens, select "Colors", make sure "Smooth" is not checked. Set the number of scans to the number of colors you want to have in the image. Click "OK" to make it trace the bitmap. It will probably take a few tries to get what you want. In the "Trace Bitmap" dialog you can optimize the trace by changing things in the options tab. --Mschel 23:21, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! I have seen you around for a long time, but I never really got ot say hi. So, Hi! I am assuming you noticed me at the CVU Task Force? --Mschel 23:42, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

A question about Inkscape...

How do you crop? I'm working on converting the Macy's logo into SVG. help please!!! Thanks! Jonathan (formerly Jonjonbt) 22:29, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

This is a little cryptic, so I will not be offended if you do not understand: Go to File --> Document Properties, and find the part that says "Custom Size". Adjust the height and width till you get what you want (you will probably need to move the objects around on the document to get it right). Alternatively if you just want to eliminate blank space around the edges, you can select all objects you wish to be in the picture and click "Fit page to selection". Was this what you wanted? --Mschel 22:55, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
OK, I just uploaded this image as an SVG and it's still has the "Show Picture" thing when you try to look at it...help!!!!! Jonathan (formerly Jonjonbt) 03:14, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
O no. That problem is the bane of my vector existence, to be honest, I don't know how to fix it. But as for that image, I noticed that the vector version is much larger then the PNG is is a version of which defeats the whole purpose of vectorization. With an image that complicated it is not possible to make a good vector version. Sorry.:( --Mschel 12:35, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

StatusBot

About a week ago, I added the StatusBot category to a few userpages of members of the CVU taskforce, for the purpose of adding the {{ustatus}} template to the list on the member page. Some users have disagreed with this, so I am going through the user talk pages of people I added the category to. Would you mind keeping the category, or would you prefer it to be removed? If you want it removed, you may delete your subpage of User:StatusBot/Status, in this case, User:StatusBot/Status/Mschel, and remove the category from your userpage. This will hide the ustatus template and stop it being re-activated. Thanks! Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 01:30, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

I don't think I understand the question. Sorry. --Mschel 02:15, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Reminder to Mentor

Hola Mentors!

Im sending you this reminder because you volunteered to mentor my students in English Advanced B as they become contributing members of the Wikipedia community. We start working with Wikipedia in earnest next week. I ask you to take a look at your entry in the Mentor Table at Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Mentors

Please update the information, esp. with what your technical and informational expertise is or, if you have decided that you no longer want to participate, please remove your information from the table. Please watch the pages associated with the project. Students will contact you via your user page and as soon as my students have user pages, I will put them on the navigation bar associated with the project.

I don’t need to remind you that your job is NOT to write their assignments for them, of course. I certainly will tell my students that… and the fact that you are volunteers that don’t have to help them… so they need to be nice. If any students misbehave (tho I don’t expect it) don’t hesistate to contact me and I will take care of it. The goal of this project is to integrate successfully into the Wikipedia community. Anyway… what I really need your help with is helping students get oriented to Wikipedia, make appropriate changes and write about appropriate topics (see Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Syllabus for assignments). I also need your technical expertise… I am only an English teacher after all! I appreciate what technology does for us but I am no technical expert!

Again, thank you for volunteering and you will hear from us again soon! Thelmadatter 19:34, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Thelmadatter

Vandalism

Me placing suspected sockpuppet tag on that person's talk page is not vandalism, you removing the tag is vandalism. It's not my job to prove anything to anyone here, it's you believe it or you don't believe it. I am much older than you, meaning I'm more wize, I know things that you don't.--Khan1982 19:12, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

look for a sunken war ship aroud the area then click on it and follow the link.
then click the link "view in google earth" save it.
then go to file open on your main toolbar at the top of google earth and open the file.
if the overlay isn't up go to the red sid bar and put a check in the box next to appropriate file. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ANOMALY-117 (talkcontribs) 22:41, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, but it can not be used for legal reasons. Bots are automated accounts, basically an account that is just a program, automatically editing. See Wikipedia:Recent changes patrol and Help:Reverting to learn how to patrol for vandalism. --Mark (Mschel) 16:04, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
