Placing an image
editHi Mientkiewicz5508! To place the image you would use code like:
[[Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg|thumb|right|100px|A logo]]
Which looks like (the image should appear below on the right):

regarding Pony Posse
editThe article Pony Posse has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This happened because the article seems to be about a person or group of persons but it does not indicate how or why that person or group is notable. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You might also want to read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 19:01, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Cool (aesthetic)
editOr something spelt like that...You sent a message to my IP account, (I apparently forgot to log in) that I had changed something on the "Cool" page...Unless it was my brother which is highly unlikely, I don't think it was I who changed it, as I have never visited that page on Wikipedia. And this edit appears under a page Stillwater Area High School. What cool has anything to do with it, I'm not sure. Hi. I'm assuming your IP address is 71.215.253.129 - if not, I'm afraid I don't know what the above relates to. I don't know what you might have written about Stillwater Area High School, but if you check the history of Cool (aesthetic), someone at your address made two changes on 26 June (both about some bloke called Ryan Aldridge). For obvious reasons, they count as vandalism (and the article gets a lot of that). Hope that helps in working out what all this is about! garik 09:00, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oh well I've never heard that name in my life. I highly doubt that that's my IP because I've seen my IP before and I remember that being shorter. Anyways thanks for clearing it up, hope the glitch or mixup or whatever doesn't happen again.
No problem. It must be your IP though, or how would you have read the message about Cool? I didn't post it on this page. It might be worth checking who's been using your PC, or doing a virus scan for Trojan Horses and stuff (though I don't know if that's really a possibility). Anyway, all the best! garik 21:01, 27 June 2006 (UTC) (PS Please sign your messages with ~~~~ ! Thanks)

Hugo Chavez
editHi Mientiewicz,
I noticed your comment on Chavez and Venezuela on the North Korea Bomb test page, and I have to say, you have a fairly distorted view of the situation in Venezuela. You might be interested in watching this video: Chavez:Inside the coup. Lord Seabhcán of Baloney 09:51, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Stillwater Area High School
editEDIT (Boardndave): Mientkiewicz5508, let's face it: In school activities have far more importance than extra-curricular events. A school's main purpose in operating is to provide education to the students which attend that school. Therefore, categories regarding in-school academia take precedence over athletics and other extra-curricular events such as sports. Now that I have explained myself, I should see no further edits to the location of the Music Program section of Stillwater Area High School page. I suppose I can leave the Theatre program info below the sports section since, while they do have a class dedicated to theatre, they're a bunch of weird kids anyways. Hopefully you can come to a realization that in an article about school, academia takes precedence over athletics. Regarding the music article: While I do not currently have time to commit to completing the rest of the info regarding the music program section (due to AP homework, etc...) I will fill the rest of the section out completely. -You should also note that the Alumni area is reserved for people who have done things above and beyond as ALUMNI. You may want to look at other schools for examples of how to properly use this section.
SAHS (Again)
editSorry about that... Never had to talk directly to somebody on Wiki. You may be surprised, but there ACTUALLY is a drama class at SAHS, therefore it technically has more importance than sports... I'm not a big fan of drama though, so I could care less where it goes.
Only in America?

Can you explain why you have insisted on replacing a number of changes, none of which was explained or sourced, and the re-inclusion of a piece of micro-trivia that has been thoroughly discussed on the Talk page? --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 21:32, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- "They were leaked from CBS so you can assume they're true" is not adequate; see WP:CITE. Your opinion of the importance of a handful of disgruntlesd people on the Internet is also not relevant. Pleasestop adding this stuff; if you continue, you face being blocked from editing for duisruption. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 08:43, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
First, please familiarise yourself with WP:MOS. Secondly, if someone doesn't warrant a Wikipedia article, why do you insist that she's notable? Thirdly, a list of rehearsal times, etc., is not acceptable use of an article; it's not a noticeboard for schools but an encyclopædia article. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 23:09, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- But an encyclopædia article is not a place to put termcards, etc. — that's been established over many discussions of this sort. A link to the school's website should be enough (such information should be there somewhere).
- As for the notability issue: again, if he's not worth an article, then he's not notable enough; if he is worth an article, why not create one? I mean, if it matters enough for you to spend time and energy insisting on including him in this list, why not spend it on creating an article (a reasonable stub that won't qualify for speedy deletion is enough).
- I'm not sure what your final comment referred to, but if it's the {{NPOV}} template, I think that it's obvious; the article is full of language more suited to a school magazine than an encyclopædia article, with teams triumphing or dominating, "has long been known for its excellence in music", etc. The tone is also wrong — much too slangy and journalistic. In fact, all the stuff about recent sports performance is inappropriate for an encyclopædia article. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 13:16, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
This is an encyclopædia, not your school's yearbook; an article here isn't the place for detailed accounts of the performances of its sports teams. You seem to prefer to take my editing as personally aimed at you. There is, of course, no basis for that. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 10:13, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- The amount of time that you've spent on it is irrelevant, I'm afraid, as is my being the only person to raise the issue. Looking at the Talk page, I see that very few people have commented at all, in fact — unsurprising, given the subject of the article. You say: "Under your logic, no College Football, Basketball, or any other sports seasons should be detailed on Wikipedia either." It's not "my logic" (whatever that means), and yes, the reasons that I give do certainly apply to articles on all schools. This isn't the place to advertise your school's sporting achievements. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 20:26, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- You might find Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools useful as a guide to what belongs (and doesn't belong) in an article on a school. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 20:36, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
How can you interpret "Mention the sports team(s) of the school and what is notable about them" as "Give full details, in gushing, school-journalism language, of the performances of the teams year by year"? --Mel Etitis (Talk) 23:01, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
--- It apears that, being unable to defend your edits, you're simply and dumbly making them, with no explanation, no attempt at justification, not even edit summaries. This is simply disruptive editing. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 20:11, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- I've explained my edits at each stage — at least with an edit summary, and generally with something more here. I've also given the relevant guidelines; you've yet to explain how you think your material fits what's said in those documents. As soon as I challenged you on that you stopped discussing the issue, but not reverting to your version.
- Your article on Chris Engler didn't even say what he did, much less what made him significant. You seem to think that the mention of parochial acronyms is enough; I have no idea what "NBA" means. I assume that it's some sort of U.S. sports organisation, but that's all. If you think that this person is important, then you should explain why, not assume that your reader already knows and agrees. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 13:10, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
You seem (unsurprisingly, perhaps, given the weakness of your position) unwilling to respond to what I said about Wikipedia guidelines; instead you choose to make personal attacks. When you choose to discuss the issues, I'll respond. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 21:28, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Sanjaya NPOV tag
editCould you comment on Talk:Sanjaya_Malakar about your reason for adding the NPOV tag to that article? (I've started a discussion topic there.) I'd like to get the POV issues resolved quickly so we can remove the tag. Thanks. Gnixon 14:25, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello, Mientkiewicz5508. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:GoPonies.gif) was found at the following location: User talk:Mientkiewicz5508. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 06:00, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Non-free use disputed for Image:GoPonies.gif
editThis file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:GoPonies.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:19, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Valleyfair Fansite
editHi... It's generally frowned upon to add your own website to a Wikipedia article. Other fan sites have been removed as linkspam in the past. Generally I'm not opposed to a few popular cites being added to an article. Your site looks great, and I wish you luck with it. But it's only a week or two old and has hardly any content yet. As such, it's going to be hard to call it "the number one fansite", etc. when you have no history to back that up... I wish you luck with your website, but please don't add it back to the article without first discussing it on the article's talk page. Thanks! --Rehcsif 22:23, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
editThanks for uploading Image:Pony.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:11, 17 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jusjih 17:11, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Baseball has a history unlike any other sport. It has been played in countless countries throughout the decades, and it will undoubtedly continue play for many more. On this eve, some the finest players the sport has to offer will take the field at the Yankee Stadium. Four popes spoke there, Pelé scored goals there, "The Greatest [football] Game Ever Played" was battled out there, John Philip Sousa lead a band there, George Costanza worked there; but what do all these events have in common? They fail to reach the level of greatness that the baseball that was played there did. In 1923, a man named Babe Ruth decided to build a new house, and over the years, that house was a home to some of the greatest baseball ever played. If I were to list out all of these great moments, it would be longer than the bill for the New Yankee Stadium. So I'll sum it up by saying that we can remember these great moments by adding them to this place we've gathered at for future generations to read about, to learn about, to dream about; but more importantly we can watch tonight and we can remember how baseball is unlike anything else that we will encounter in our lives. — Blackngold29 |

Speedy deletion of Kevin Gullikson
editA tag has been placed on Kevin Gullikson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. A new name 2008 (talk) 00:39, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:PonyMascot.gif
editThanks for uploading File:PonyMascot.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 15:23, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
