Speedy deletion nomination of User:Michaelmcallen/sandbox edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Michaelmcallen/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. — O Fortuna semper crescis, aut decrescis 10:01, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Regarding Speedy Deletion
Hello, Michaelmcallen. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia.
I'm sorry, but this has been deleted as meeting WP:CSD#G11. "This applies to pages that are exclusively promotional and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to conform with Wikipedia:NOTFORPROMOTION." These must be rewritten from scratch from "reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject." See WP:RS.
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see Wikipedia:Citing sources . Template:cite has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{references}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there.
YOU CAN ASK FOR HELP AT THE TEAHOUSE
Any deficiencies should be remedied before reposting as they can lead to repeated deletions.
If you want to try again, please use the Article Wizard to guide you through the creation process.

Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Michaelmcallen. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. — O Fortuna semper crescis, aut decrescis 10:37, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

edit

As has been mentioned above, if you are employed by or are otherwise paid by the subject of a Wikipedia page that you are contributing to, you are obliged under the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use to disclose this relationship (the easiest way to do this is to place the {{paid}} template on your userpage). If you continue to edit without addressing this issue, you will be blocked from editing. Yunshui  12:35, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

So if i put this on my user page, will the page i created last be okay to stay? both images on the page i created were my own photos?

No, the content you added was blatant advertising (and it's unclear whether the subject even meets Wikipedia's requirements for inclusion) - there's no way that text is going back on Wikipedia, even in a sandbox. The images are on Wikimedia Commons, which is a separate project, so I can't speak for those, but this one is certainly out of scope - this may be useable, but you'll need to follow the process for copyright donation first. All I can guarantee is that if you post a {{paid}} template, you won't be blocked for undisclosed paid editing (administrators may still block you for other reasons, of course). Yunshui  12:51, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

The one thing i don't get is if you read any other companies who do the same as we do, their wiki's are almost identical which the knowledge they provide. Thanks yunshui

If you find examples of other pages on Wikipedia with the same promotional tone, please feel free to either edit the articles to provide a neutral perspective or tag them by adding {{advert}} at the top of the page so that other editors can remove the promotional language. Yunshui  13:02, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I'll do that. Can someone edit this for me at all please? Michaelmcallen (talk) 13:07, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Article edit

I will look at creating an article. You need to help though. I need you to find articles that discuss the company. The articles must be written by someone that is not associated with the company. That means no press releases or articles that rely solely on press releases. The sources must provide significant coverage of the company. That means they cannot just mention the company in passing. Add them to this section. They also need to be from reliable sources. After you have 3 or 4 sources that meet this criteria you can leave me a message on my talk page or or copy {{ping|GB fan}} ~~~~ and place it at the bottom of the section and save the page. It will alert me to come look here. ~ GB fan 13:20, 1 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
