wolf, if you had clicked on James Earl Rudder's name, the link would have taken you to his biography on Wikipedia, which clearly states that he retired from the US Army Reserve as a Major General, after commanding the 90th Infantry Division. I have included both that link and another link to his biography on the Texas A&M University website as references for his correct rank. Similarly, Samuel V. Wilson's Wikipedia biography verifies that he served with Merrill's Marauders, and even has a picture of him wearing his Ranger tab. I have added both that link and another one to his obituary in the Washington Post as references for the correct information that I have posted yet again. Hello, Srich32977. After reviewing my edits, I must acknowledge that you are technically correct. Manning, who was still known as Bradley Manning at the time of his sentencing, was convicted by military court martial of multiple violations of the Espionage Act, not treason. Therefore, Manning is a convicted spy, not a convicted traitor. However, since spying against the United States is a form of betraying it, I felt that was a case of unnecessary hair-splitting. Also, being a retired Army officer, I have personal knowledge that Manning was stripped of all awards and decorations as part of his conviction by court-martial. It happened in conjunction with him being reduced to the rank of Private (E-1). As soon as I can find a reference online to corroborate that, I'll repost it.
