Yabdas of Altava

(Response to the comment you left after your edit on the Kingdom of Altava article) Iaudas (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iaudas) was not a King of Altava, but of a separate Moorish kingdom centered in Aures it seems. It also appears that he was a contemporary with the Altavan king Masuna. I have no source for a "King Yabdas" of Altava, but the name was featured in the article before I edited it so I kept it in. This king Yabdas never existed, either in Altava, or in the Aures, it must be removed from the article.

The user before you confused Yabdas with Iaudas, who was a king of the Aures, and for some unknown reason, he put Yadbas in the article while this king never existed, and never ruled Altava.

And thank you for adding content to the article. This period in the history of the Maghreb is quite unknown, and it interests me a lot. :)

Yeah, I assumed something was wrong with it since I could not find anything on a "King Yabdas" anywhere. I have removed "Yabdas" from the article. It is indeed a very interesting period, it is a shame that there is not that many sources left from Altava and the other Moorish kingdoms. Ichthyovenator (talk) 15:42, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

Hello, I apologize for disturbing you once more, but are you sure that Volubilis would have been the capital of the kingdom of Moors and Romans? this question has been on my mind for a while, because the city of Volubilis seems not to have ever been integrated into the kingdom of Altava, and is not mentioned in the article Marcel Baron (talk) 12:23, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

I am not sure, the previous article on the "Mauro-Roman kingdom" listed Volubilis as a capital: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mauro-Roman_kingdom&oldid=819972766, and stated that "Berber rulers created a small independent kingdom, centered around the capital Altava and the fully romanised city of Volubilis" and that the area around Volubilis was one of the first parts abandoned under Diocletian. Interestingly, this was unsourced just like "King Yabdas". Ichthyovenator (talk) 13:42, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

I strongly doubt that Volubilis has been integrated into the Altava kingdom, but that it has been a capital, impossible. Garmul is noted by Vega as beeing the master of a kingdom whose capital was Altava and not Volubilis (who is located in the east of present-day Morocco, which has never been under the domination of this kingdom)

Also, the reign of Kahina ended after his death, around 702-703, and not in 708, unless I'm wrong, in this case do not hesitate to lend me books. Marcel Baron (talk) 15:33, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

It is of course possible that Volubilis was the capital, with the capital later being moved to Altava. Either way, I removed Volubilis from the "capital" part of the infobox since there is no source stating that it was capital, or as you say, even part of the kingdom.

The years of the reign of Queen Kahina are slightly wrong, as are some of the others, which I will fix soon. Ichthyovenator (talk) 19:28, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

Ok, and about Kahina, are you sure she was at the head of this kingdom? No source mention her at the head of any kingdom of altava Marcel Baron (talk) 20:43, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

I am unsure if Kahina was necessarily at the head of Altava in particular, she is mentioned as having succeeded Caecilius as the central military leader of the Berbers against the muslims in her article here on Wikipedia (unsure on the source). Ichthyovenator (talk) 22:36, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
