- Start slowly and work your way up. Have a look at the links in the welcome message above - particularly the tutorial. Then, if your image is not on Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Commons already, you need to upload it - but you can only do that if it's freely licensed (e.g. not copyrighted). Then, you just type
[[File:IMAGENAME.EXT|thumb|A caption goes here]]
to insert it in the article, replacing IMAGENAME.EXT with your uploaded image's filename. However, only free images are allowed (and free doesn't just mean you don't need to pay money for them) and they should only be uploaded for use in articles - Wikipedia is not a webspace provider, or a social network - this is not a place to post stuff about yourself or create a homepage. Your user page is intended for you to tell other editors about yourself as an editor, not as a social profile. —Vanderdecken∴ ∫ξφ 19:40, 4 June 2009 (UTC)- Hi - I noticed you trying to add this image to your userpage. You pasted in the address of the image (the \Users\olivertaubman\... part) on your own computer into the page. That is the address on your hard drive of the image file on your desktop - you haven't uploaded it to Wikipedia, so it can't appear on your userpage, because it's still only on your computer. See Wikipedia:Uploading images for help on how to upload your image and Wikipedia:Picture tutorial for how to insert it in a page. —Vanderdecken∴ ∫ξφ 11:39, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
