PRAYER OF ALPHA SIGMA PHI FRATERNITY-PHILIPPINES, INC.

edit

ETERNAL FATHER, bless this fraternity that our brothers may come together with unity and understanding that will bind us into one common aspiration. Strengthen our will with sincerity as brothers in the Alpha Sigma Phi and help us Lord to unite us against untruth and dishonor. Let the rays of your grace enlighten those who seek to destroy our brotherhood in the midst of all afflictions and adversities. Bequeath on us Lord, the gracious speech of love not hate because words that condemn others can inflame anger and destroy our brotherhood. Guide us Almighty Father, lead us the path of righteousness when we are about to step off into the hole of darkness. Protect us from danger and shower us the light that will brighten our hearts and minds. Confer on us Lord , a brotherhood that is pure and honest. A spirit of brotherhood that is full of love, dignity and courage. As we put trust on you Lord, provide us with knowledge and wisdom in order for us to make this fraternity a better today and tomorrow. Amen...

AUTHENTIC HISTORY OF ALPHA SIGMA PHI IN THE PHILIPPINES

edit

Alpha Sigma Phi-Philippines, Inc. was originally founded on March 11, 1952 at Araneta University-Foundation, Metro Manila. It is also noted that in 1959, the same name was also founded at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Medical College, Manila which is considered to be an exclusive fraternity for medical students. On December 12, 1965, another Alpha Sigma Phi General Fraternity was founded at Silliman University, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental by six college students; Manuel M. Momongan, Ceasar Repollo, Ceasar Severino, Arlindo Santos, Peter Balbuena and Rodney Baquiran. The name which was originally coined as ALPHA DELTA PHI FRATERNITY and SORORITY, in view of the policy and culture of the university administration, pursuing a non-coed registration of organization; separating male and female student groups, the original name of Alpha Delta Phi was split into two naming Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and Delta Sigma Phi Sorority. The change of name at Silliman University, ensued the first significant merging on December 15, 1965 between Wilfredo Taguba, a transfereee from ASP-Araneta University 1952 and Manuel M. Momongan, ASP-Silliman University 1965. The significant historical event of the two fraternities gave way of acclaiming ASP-Araaneta University as the true and original fraternity existence in the Philippines. The Principal Founder of ASP-Silliman University, Manuel M. Momongan who is from Cebu City, spread the name Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and Delta Sigma Phi Sorority in 1966 to several universities in the city; Southwestern University, University of the Visayas, University of Southern Philippines, University of San Jose Recoletos, University of San Carlos, Cebu Technological University, Cebu Institute of Technology-University and University of Cebu. Manuel M. Momongan, being away from his original fraternity at Silliman University, was not aware that the national leadership of ASP at that time headed by Kalunsiang Demalin, initiated the holding of the so-called First National Convention in 1972 aimed at uniting all Alpha Sigma Phi in the Philippines. Protocol system of coordinating with the Principal Founder was not properly observed in providing him a copy of the National Agenda. It incited then ASP from Central Mindanao University to participate, a fraternity known to be with dubious historical existence Founded by Ramon del Carmen, a member of Upsilon Sigma Phi, an exclusive fraternity only for U.P. Dilliman, Quezon City and U.P. Los Banos, in Laguna. In the so-called national convention, only three ASP, separate and distinct with each other; ASP-Silliman University 1965, ASP-Central Mindanao University 1959 and ASP-Leyte Institute of Technology 1970 in Tacloban City. ASP-Araneta University 1952 and ASP-UERMMC 1959 both from Manila, being skeptical of its drastic formation, did not attend. The failure of the two most older ASP Fraternities to attend, did not serve its purpose to pursue the significant event of uniting all Alpha Sigma Phi in the Philippines. In haste, the merging of the two ASP-Silliman University and ASP-Central Mindanao University even to the extent of excluding ASP-Leyte Institute of Technology was pursued which was strongly opposed by ASP-S.U. Founder, Manuel M. Momongan, claiming that a conclusive deliberations can not be attained in the absence of the two old ASP. A suggestion by him was to hol in abeyance and status quo has to be observed and maintained until such time a real unification is realized and by which a compounded and a conclusive deliberation is reacched. In the absence of ensuring a Real National Unification and hastily pursued, ASP-Silliman Founder, Manuel Momongan have sensed a conspired actions of Kalunsiang Demalin who hails from Mindanao and the participants of ASP-CMU. ASP-Silliman Founder maintained that proper and legal procedures of the merging must be absolutely followed and observed; 1. The merging was not incorporated in the National Agenda of the Convention, 2. No proper deliberations in the Plenary Session, 3. No prepared draft of the Merging Agreement, 4. No signing by both parties considering that there was no Merging Agreement being drafted, 5. Not notarized by a Public Attorney to ensure the validity of the Merging and therefore considered to be binding and legal. The conspiracy of Kalunsiang Demalin by showing his disrespect to the ASP-Silliman Founder and the participation of ASP-CMU, Manuel M. Momongan and the rest of ASP-Cebu Alumni consistent with the Rule of Law,decided to severe their relations by refusing to acknowledge and be a part of that dubious and illegal national merging altogether tainted with malicious and evil scheme. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approvedManny asp1965 (talk) 07:06, 19 May 2014 (UTC) the name formed by Manuel M. Momongan, ASP National Alumni and Undergraduate Association of the Philippines, Inc. under Registration Nos. CN200627696.Manny asp1965 (talk) 05:47, 19 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
